A former Hollywood actor and model has accused George Takei of taking his pants off and sexually assaulting him after he passed out from drinking too much alcohol.
Scott R. Burton told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview that the alleged assault happened in 1981 when he was 23 and Takei was in his mid-forties.
According to Burton, the two men met each other at Greg’s Blue Dot bar, exchanged phone numbers, and spoke to each other from time to time. Burton says that when he broke up with his boyfriend, Takei invited him out to dinner and a show.
“He was very good at consoling me and understanding that I was upset and still in love with my boyfriend,” Brunton told The Hollywood Reporter. “He was a great ear. He was very good about me spilling my heart on my sleeve.”
After the date, Burton said the two went back to Takei’s place to have drinks, which is when the alleged assault happened.
“We have the drink and he asks if I would like another,” Brunton said. “And I said sure. So, I have the second one, and then all of a sudden, I begin feeling very disoriented and dizzy, and I thought I was going to pass out.”
Burton said that he went to lie down and that when he woke up from “pass[ing] out” Takei was sexually assaulting him:
“The next thing I remember I was coming to and he had my pants down around my ankles and he was groping my crotch and trying to get my underwear off and feeling me up at the same time, trying to get his hands down my underwear,” Brunton recalled. “I came to and said, ‘What are you doing?!’ I said, ‘I don’t want to do this.’ He goes, ‘You need to relax. I am just trying to make you comfortable. Get comfortable.’ And I said, ‘No. I don’t want to do this.’ And I pushed him off and he said, ‘OK, fine.’ And I said I am going to go and he said, ‘If you feel you must. You’re in no condition to drive.'”
The actor said he left Takei’s place as soon as he felt well enough to drive.
When THR spoke with “four longtime friends of Brunton,” they told the outlet that they were aware of the story from years before.
Takei strongly denied the allegations Saturday morning on Twitter:
