The former Miss Universe who is being used as a Hillary Clinton suroogate and has claimed Donald Trump “fat-shamed” her allegedly helped a would-be murderer and allegedly threatened to kill a judge.
Alicia Machado, named Miss Universe in 1996, claims that Trump called her “Miss Piggy” after she gained weight, mocked her by saying she “loves to eat,” and disparaged her Latino accent, calling her “Miss Housekeeping.” Trump doubled down on Tuesday, saying “she gained a massive amount of weight.”
After Trump’s comments, Machado was interviewed, and said, in part:
I have been sharing this story, my story, with all of my fans and all of the communities from the beginning. And I have been talking about this for 20 years, this really bad experience working with Mr. Donald Trump. I know very well what’s he’s capable of, this man. And that’s why I am fighting to make the community understand, now more than ever, that Latinos need to support the US, that we need to return all the beautiful and grand things the US has provided for us. Basically by sharing my experience and focusing on abuse against women, the disrespect to women, violence against women, must end.
But on Tuesday, revelations about Machado’s past were brought to light: AP reported in 1998 that Machado had been accused in court documents in Cadacras of driving her boyfriend, Juan Rodriguez Reggeti, after he shot his brother-in-law, Francisco Sbert Moukso, at the funeral of Moukso’s wife, Reggeti’s sister Maria Rodriguez
AP reported that Moukso’s lawyer stated Reggeti believed Moukso had driven his sister to suicide; she was eight months pregnant when she jumped to her death off a fifth-floor balcony. Moukso’s lawyer alleged that witnesses saw Machado drive her boyfriend away from the scene of the crime, and Reggeti had kidnapped Rodriguez’s 11-month-old son.
Machado’s lawyer, Ricardo Koesling, responded that the charges were false, asserting, “She wasn’t even present at the site of the incident.” Machado was not indicted.
“She would make sure, using her friendship with the president (Rafael Caldera), that my career as judge is ruined and then she would kill me.”
Judge Maximiliano Fuenmayor on threat from Miss Universe Alicia Machado
One month after the trial, the judge, Maximiliano Fuenmayor, stated on national television that Machado had threatened to kill him if he indicted her boyfriend.
Reuters reported that Fuenmayor stated “she would make sure, using her friendship with the president (Rafael Caldera), that my career as judge is ruined and then she would kill me.”
The Economist reported that she admitted making the call but argued the call was to thank him for “his unbiased pursuit of justice.”
