“Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinski warned viewers on Wednesday that if Democrats were not successful in the upcoming 2024 election, the “mini-Trumps” would be sure to continue in the same vein as former President Donald Trump.
Brzezinski made the comments during a conversation with Molly Jong-Fast, during which they argued that Democrats needed to do a better job of attacking Trump — and warning that if they didn’t, Republicans would be able to control the narrative.
“There’s always the issue. ‘We don’t want to go negative. We don’t want to go ugly.’ When you’re running against Donald Trump, just go real,” Brzezinski said, as Mediaite reported, arguing that the smartest thing Democrats could do is just highlight the things that Trump himself has said and done.
“Just use what material Donald Trump has provided, put it in proper context, and give people information about what will be happening if he gets another term. I think that would be enough, and I think Democrats need to pound away at the dangers of Donald Trump, using Donald Trump’s own words against him, and actions,” she said.
Jong-Fast agreed, saying that media had to be careful to cover everything — and then work to counter everything Trump said on social media as well.
“When mainstream media does not cover a subject, there becomes a vacuum. And Trump and his people get into social media and they spread stuff. And if there isn’t a fair amount of debunking, you will see these lies go again and again and again,” she claimed.
“And talk about spreading. You can also cover the mini-Trumps,” Brzezinski replied, suggesting that Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-NC) and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) fell into that category.

“They’re all mini-Trumps, all Republicans caught in a cult that honestly, Republicans that you know in your life, you can’t recognize these Republicans,” she continued. “This is all out there, and it’s accurate information that can be used against him that Trump has amassed over the course of 4 to 8 years, and he has given the Democrats on a silver platter. Take it and run with it!”
