Michigan gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon, a Republican, announced over the weekend that if she becomes the state’s next governor she will sign legislation that criminalizes involving children in drag shows.
Dixon’s remarks come after a gay bar in Dallas generated national outrage over the weekend for hosting a drag show for children, “where kids were invited onstage and tipped performers in front of a neon sign bearing an obscene message,” The Daily Wire reported. “Outside the club, protesters gathered to complain that the event was grooming children.”
Tudor responded to the event on Twitter, writing, “As Governor, I will sign a bill that creates severe criminal penalties for adults who involve children in drag shows.”
“This type of behavior is criminal child sexually abusive activity,” she continued. “We will make Michigan the toughest state in the country on child sex abusers.”
Dixon made the remarks in response to a tweet from journalist Andy Ngo, who documents far-left extremism. “The drag event for children at a gay bar in Dallas, Texas was called ‘Drag the Kids to Pride’,” Ngo wrote. “It was held at the Mr. Misster gay bar & club. Children & transvestites danced in front of an electronic sign that read, ‘It’s not gonna lick itself.'”

Tudor was one of several Republican candidates running to unseat Democrat governor Gretchen Whitmer. Two of the top candidates, former Detroit police chief James Craig and businessman Perry Johnson, were recently thrown off the ballot due to alleged issues with their candidacy petitions.
Tudor also has secured an endorsement from the American Conservative Union, which hosts CPAC.
“Pleased to announce that @CPAC is supporting @TudorDixon an inspiring, conservative, new voice in MI politics,” CPAC chairman Matt Schlapp tweeted. “Tudor will make an outstanding Governor who will help bring MI back.”
