A spokesperson for MGM Resorts told the Daily Wire Tuesday night that the most recent claims by law enforcement officials about the timeline leading up to the Las Vegas massacre might not be accurate.
Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo announced Monday that the timeline of events leading up to the shooting had changed. The change involved the security guard, Jesus Campos, and when he was supposedly shot by gunman Stephen Paddock. Originally, the story was that Paddock shot Campos at approximately 10:18 p.m., three minutes after the Paddock quit shooting at the concert. However, Lombardo said that Campos was shot six minutes before Paddock started shooting at the concert at 9:59 p.m.
The new timeline instantly raised new questions centered around the response time of law enforcement officials and first responders.
However, MGM Resorts indicated Tuesday evening that the new timeline of events presented by law enforcement might not be accurate.
In an email to The Daily Wire, MGM Resorts spokesperson Debra DeShong wrote:
This remains an ongoing investigation with a lot of moving parts. As evidenced by law enforcement briefings over the past week, many facts are still unverified and continue to change as events are under review. We cannot be certain about the most recent timeline that has been communicated publically, and we believe what is currently being expressed may not be accurate.
We understand the public’s desire for information and the importance of getting our community and the public at large the information they deserve, and we are doing everything we can to support law enforcement’s efforts to do so. Therefore, it is not appropriate for us to comment further at this time on what remains an open matter for law enforcement.
Another new piece of information came to light on Tuesday as CBS News reported that Paddock supposedly used the hotel’s freight elevator in the days leading up to the attack.
Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino refused to comment to The Daily Wire on whether guests were allowed access to the freight elevator. One employee, who was not authorized to talk publicly on the matter, said that guests were not allowed to use the freight elevator.
