<p><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/matthew-mcconaughey-discusses-his-return-to-acting-in-upcoming-yellowstone-spinoff" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Matthew McConaughey&#8217;s</a> wife <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/camila-alves-says-matthew-mcconaugheys-mom-tested-her-called-her-by-his-exs-names" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Camila Alves</a> said the image many people have of her superstar husband as a &#8220;laid back,&#8221; &#8220;getting high&#8221; guy is false and said he&#8217;s completely opposite of that person.</p>
<p>During the 41-year-old model/entrepreneur&#8217;s appearance on &#8220;<a href="https://www.southernliving.com/biscuits-and-jam-camila-alves-mcconaughey-s4-ep19-7574422" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Southern Living&#8217;s Biscuits &amp; Jam</a>&#8221; podcast, the 53-year-old actor&#8217;s wife said that he&#8217;s not at all like who fans think he is and is much more like his mom, actress Kay McConaughey, than anything.</p>
<p>&#8220;When we first start dating, it was this image of Matthew of getting high, laid back, no shirt, whatever,&#8221; Alves told the host.</p>

<p>&#8220;Which I&#8217;m like, &#8216;The guy doesn&#8217;t even smoke. What is this vision coming from?'&#8221; she added.</p>
<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s actually the opposite, and he&#8217;s like his mom,&#8221; McConaughey&#8217;s wife continued. &#8220;She&#8217;s very organized, very minimalistic, very on time, very prepared, and he gets a lot of those traits from her.&#8221;</p>
<p>Camila and Matthew tied the knot in 2012 and the couple share three children together, <a href="https://people.com/matthew-mcconaughey-s-wife-camila-says-his-getting-high-image-isn-t-real-7775486?utm_campaign=people&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=instagram&amp;utm_content=likeshop" target="_blank" rel="noopener">People</a> noted.</p>
<p>Alves previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/matthew-mcconaugheys-wife-opens-up-on-their-decision-to-leave-malibu-for-a-life-that-embodies-their-belief-system-in-texas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">talked</a> about the couple&#8217;s decision to move out of California to Texas to raise their three kids in a life that &#8220;embodies&#8221; their &#8220;belief system.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;It really embodies our belief system, especially the ones I grew up with, like going to church every Sunday, saying &#8216;yes ma&#8217;am&#8217; or &#8216;no, sir,'&#8221; Camila said.</p>
<p>&#8220;I grew up saying those things coming from a family of farmers,&#8221; she added. &#8220;For me, being from Brazil and then coming to Texas, I discovered a lot of similarities in terms of what families practice here, especially going to church on Sundays, and being very into the outdoors. It&#8217;s been a great transition.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;We lived in Malibu for many years and having the paparazzi outside our door every day — every single day — when that becomes your normal, you don&#8217;t realize how much that&#8217;s actually affecting the things you do until you actually leave and get out of it,&#8221; the superstar actor&#8217;s wife continued. &#8220;The kids get to have a private way of growing up. So from that perspective, it was very important.&#8221;</p>
<p>Alves also talked about the challenges of making time for date nights with her husband, which she said sometimes means the couple just steals away for a minute to reconnect.</p>
<p>&#8220;Sometimes it&#8217;s as simple as a staycation,&#8221; Camila said. &#8220;Or, &#8216;I&#8217;m sending the kids over to a family member, so we can stay home and have a drink together.’</p>
<p>&#8220;I have this thing — we have a tree on our property,&#8221; she added. &#8220;I sometimes say to Matt, &#8216;Let&#8217;s meet today before dinner and watch the sunset under the tree.&#8217; We&#8217;ll just sit under the tree and have a drink together. It&#8217;s about sharing those simple little moments together in between everything that&#8217;s going on. It&#8217;s about those little moments to keep reconnecting.&#8221;</p>
