Matthew McConaughey discussed his return to acting in the upcoming “Yellowstone” spinoff and made it clear after several years away from the business, he’s looking forward to having a more structured schedule.

During the 53-year-old actor’s recent appearance on “Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard,” McConaughey welcomed the opportunity to be on set again after spending the last four years focusing more on public service and writing his book, “Greenlights.”

“To go have some structure like, ‘I got a call time, I’ve got lines, I’ve got scenes, I’ve got a character,'” McConaughey told the host. “That sounds like a vacation right now to me.”

“The last few years I had a really wonderful time getting rid of a lot of those filters that come with acting,” he added.

The “Dallas Buyer’s Club” star didn’t share information about the spinoff’s possible title or what his role will be on the show. However, he did talk about being anxious to see how much his strength as an actor has grown following all his work off-screen. McConaughey was last seen on the big screen in 2019’s “The Gentlemen.”

“I am now becoming more interested in actually going to play another character in a movie or a TV show because all of the last four years of culminating and writing and getting these things together and getting more into some public service,” McConaughey said.

“The idea of going to act in the right role or the right movie, film or series right now, I’ll be a different or improved actor in my own right after these last three years,” he added.

News of McConaughey’s inclusion in the “Yellowstone” franchise comes amid rumors that Kevin Costner could leave the show due to scheduling conflicts.
