<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/matthew-mcconaughey">Matthew McConaughey</a> admitted he considered quitting Hollywood altogether — and finding another vocation like teaching — during a time in his career when he was only getting romantic comedy roles.
Speaking to actor Glen Powell for <a href="https://www.interviewmagazine.com/film/glen-powell-and-matthew-mcconaughey-tell-the-truth-about-movie-stardom">Interview magazine</a>, the 54-year-old actor said he left Hollywood for two years to figure out what he wanted to do when he only seemed able to get roles in movies like the “Wedding Planner” and “How to Lose a Guy in 10 days.”
&#8220;I’ve usually zigged when I felt like Hollywood wanted me to zag,&#8221; McConaughey said. &#8220;When I had my rom-com years, there was only so much bandwidth I could give to those, and those were some solid hits for me. But I wanted to try some other stuff. Of course, I wasn’t getting it, so I had to leave Hollywood for two years.&#8221;
&#8220;Dude it was scary. I had long talks with my wife about needing to find a new vocation,&#8221; he added.&#8221;‘I think I’m going to teach high school classes. I think I’m going to study to be a conductor. I think I’m going to go be a wildlife guide.’&#8221;

“The Gentlemen” star said leaving was scary but looking back he can see that the departure was necessary to make Hollywood miss him.

&#8220;I don’t know about you, but for me, going back to &#8216;<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/samuel-l-jackson-says-scenes-cut-from-a-time-to-kill-cost-him-oscar">A Time to Kill,</a>&#8216; after I first had a big success in a major studio picture and became famous, I remembered that the Thursday before that movie opened, there’s 100 scripts out there that I would’ve done, and 99 of them I could not book,” McConaughey said. 
“Over that one weekend, 99 noes became 99 yeses. I was like, ‘What? Three days ago, I’d have done any of these! And now you’re asking me which one I want to do?’ he added. “It was a hell of a shocking thing.&#8221;
After his last rom-com in the 2009 “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past,” he started getting more serious roles like “The Lincoln Lawyer” in 2011 and won his first Oscar in 2014 for his part in the &#8220;Dallas Buyers Club.&#8221; 
Powell, the “Top Gun: Maverick” star recently talked about moving out of the “fishbowl” to be closer to his family because he’s gotten to “this point in Hollywood” that he can leave, saying it’s like he’s “earned the ability to go back” to his family and home in Texas, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-gun-star-explains-why-hes-moving-away-from-hollywood-after-15-years">reported</a>.
McConaughey, who lives in Texas with his wife Camila and their three kids, told Powell he could relate.
&#8220;Once I felt like I was in Hollywood, I felt comfortable enough to go back home,” the actor said. “You can really be an honest observer of humans in Texas.”
“It’s tough to do that in Hollywood, because everyone’s a voyeur,” he added. “Instead of going someplace to eat, a lot of Hollywood’s going to that place to see who’s coming to that place to eat.&#8221;

During their joint appearance in an upcoming episode of &#8220;Your Mama&#8217;s Kitchen&#8221; <a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/your-mamas-kitchen/id1675546694">podcast</a>, the &#8220;Interstellar&#8221; star told the host how the couple often uses food to handle marital squabbles, <a href="https://people.com/matthew-mcconaughey-camila-alves-mcconaughey-reveal-same-morning-routine-in-disagreement-your-mama-kitchen-podcast-8547470">People magazine</a> reported.
&#8220;In the middle of that disagreement,  if I was to say,[be] the cook that night and I was doing my steak sushi dinner, if I&#8217;m gonna give you — slice you off another bite, and then go serve you, there&#8217;s an invisible dissipation to the disagreement that happens in my service to her,&#8221; McConaughey told the host in a clip obtained by the outlet.

&#8220;That I handed her a gift,&#8221; he added. &#8220;Of something that we were already really enjoying. That I continued.&#8221;
The &#8220;Dallas Buyers Club&#8221; star said just because they were not always in agreement, that didn&#8217;t mean they would ever &#8220;quit serving&#8221; each other.
&#8220;I&#8217;m still going to serve my lady [at] my steak sushi because I know she loves it, even though we may be in a disagreement,&#8221; he added, noting that &#8220;a sweet food&#8221; can also &#8220;de-escalate some things, even if it&#8217;s a nice piece of chocolate or some ice cream.&#8221; 
McConaughey said little things really make a difference in marriage, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/matthew-mcconaughey-isnt-pulling-parachute-marriage-when-has-disagreement-wife-camila?intcmp=tw_fnc">Fox News</a> noted.
&#8220;I don&#8217;t make my tea as good as you,&#8221; Matthew said to his wife, the outlet noted. &#8220;But the fact that you make my tea and serve me my tea in the morning makes me go: &#8216;It just tastes better.'&#8221;
&#8220;Even if you and I are in a disagreement, the fact that you still make my tea in the morning, serving my tea &#8230; it&#8217;s the difference between being married and dating,&#8221; he added.
&#8220;Yeah. Trust me, ladies, some mornings I do not want to serve that tea,&#8221; Alves quipped. 
&#8220;But she still will make it for me anyway!&#8221; McConaughey replied.
&#8220;[When you&#8217;re] dating somebody and suddenly you get in disagreement [you think] &#8216;oh, this is a sign of things to come. Better get out now,'&#8221; he added. &#8220;But you&#8217;re married and you disagree. You&#8217;re like, &#8216;I&#8217;m not pulling the parachute. This is part of it. I&#8217;m going to work through this. I&#8217;m still going to serve my man his tea. I&#8217;m still gonna serve my lady her steak sushi because I know she loves it.&#8217; Even though we may be in a disagreement.&#8221;
Camila and Matthew tied the knot in 2012, and the couple share three children together.

A judge issued the protective order for the 53-year-old actor after he told the court that the woman had inundated him with &#8220;unhinged letters, emails, and frivolous lawsuits designed to lure me into court,&#8221; the <a href="https://theblast.com/547879/matthew-mcconaughey-granted-5-year-restraining-order-unhinged-obsessed-fan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Blast</a> reported.
&#8220;These lawsuits were designed to lure me to court and come into contact with me,&#8221; McConaughey said, adding that the obsessed female believed the two were involved in a romantic relationship.

The &#8220;Dallas Buyers Club&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/matthew-mcconaugheys-wife-says-his-laid-back-and-getting-high-image-is-false" target="_blank" rel="noopener">star</a> filed the restraining order ahead of several up-and-coming meet-and-greets the actor was having that he discovered the woman was planning to attend. He told the court one of the events he was specifically worried about was after she purchased a ticket that would have &#8220;afforded a photo opportunity which would place her in close contact with&#8221; him.
&#8220;She has purchased tickets to attend promotional events I am scheduled to appear at the week of 9/11/23,&#8221; he added. &#8220;She is delusional and poses a threat to all that attend.&#8221;
The &#8220;Interstellar&#8221; star also told the court that he had the person investigated and through that &#8220;investigation and her own admission, I learned that (she) has a past history of mental health issues and has spent time at a mental health hospital. My representatives have acted professionally and have advised her to stop contacting me,&#8221; the Blast noted.

&#8220;Notwithstanding clear requests, she continues to send letters, emails, and other disturbing communications to my team as well as other third parties who are concerned about her next moves,&#8221; he added. &#8220;This includes her intentions when she shows up at public events at their establishments.&#8221;

Authorities informed her about the restraining order and she was led off the premises without further incident.

Retired talk show host Maury Povich said he&#8217;d be willing to make a comeback if actors Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson would agree to take a DNA test and confirm once and for all whether they are half brothers.

News interview and said he&#8217;d happily come out of retirement to solve the mystery.

At the time, McConaughey said he wasn&#8217;t sure he&#8217;d want to take a test to find out for sure whether he and Harrelson actually shared a father. &#8220;It’s a little harder for me because he’s asking me to take a chance to go, &#8216;Wait a minute, you’re trying to tell me my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing that?&#8217; I got a little more skin in the game.&#8221;
But by the time Povich posed the question, the &#8220;Lincoln Lawyer&#8221; star appeared to have come around to the idea. &#8220;I don’t know if we’re going to be calling you to do it on your show, but I like the way you’re thinking,&#8221; he said.

On the topic of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">celebrity</a> possibly running for office in the future, Behar <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQLcw_h4qBM" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, &#8220;Do you think you can get elected in Texas, being <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/gun-control" target="_blank" rel="noopener">anti-gun</a>?&#8221;
McConaughey took a pause and repeated the question out loud before responding, &#8220;One thing about me and politics is, to give you a direct statement right there is me playing a game I&#8217;m not interested in playing.”
Behar told him not to say anything if he didn&#8217;t want to.
Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in later in the segment, saying, &#8220;I did want to say that I&#8217;ve done a lot of research in terms of your advocacy, and I don&#8217;t know that you&#8217;re anti-gun, I think you&#8217;re pro-gun responsibility and legislation.”
The 53-year-old Uvalde, Texas, native has been outspoken about advocating for gun reform, especially following the school shooting in his hometown in 2022.
McConaughey previously argued that gun control didn’t have popular support because of how it was framed. During an August interview on ABC News&#8217;s &#8220;This Week,&#8221; he discussed comments he made at a White House press conference following the Uvalde school shooting.

“Control sounds like a mandate and nobody wants a mandate,” he continued. “No one wants to be controlled. But responsibility is still something that we can all go, yeah, ‘I’ll take responsibility,’ and a lot of the far-right or the Republicans, they almost feel like responsibility is a value that they have ownership of and it’s a sense of almost pride and honor to be responsible.”
During a 2018 March For Our Lives rally, the “Interstellar” actor said gun owners should “take one for the team” and voluntarily give up some of their gun rights. 
“One, let’s ban the assault weapons for civilians. This is a no-brainer,” McConaughey said at the time. “And to my friends out there, that are responsible owners of these assault weapons that they use for recreation, please let’s take one for the team and set it down.”

&#8220;My mom&#8217;s 91 and she said, &#8216;That&#8217;s not just for kids. You even reminded me of some things in there,'&#8221; the superstar actor said.
&#8220;Just being a dad, I mean, you&#8217;re thinking about your kids all the time [and] I think that afternoon, I&#8217;d been having conversations with my children about certain new things that they were crossing for the first time or, &#8216;Well, this happened and I&#8217;m not sure how to feel about it. And I wanted to do this, but I felt I needed to do this, and I was confused,'&#8221; he added.
&#8220;Evidently it was in my subconscious … Once I knocked all the couplets down in the rhythm, it sort of wrote itself,&#8221; McConaughey continued.
The &#8220;Dallas Buyers Club&#8221; star said his kids have already given their seal of approval.
&#8220;They liked it,&#8221; McConaughey said. &#8220;Vida is very visual, so she loved the pictures that [illustrator] Renée [Kurilla] did. I ran it by my kids. We went through scenarios [explored] in it.&#8221;
The Hollywood star said one of the parts that they connected to was a section that read,  &#8220;Just because you&#8217;re wailing, doesn&#8217;t mean you&#8217;re a crier. Just because you lied, doesn&#8217;t mean you’re a liar.&#8221;
&#8220;We talked about that one quite a bit because my kids have seen it,&#8221; he added. &#8220;We do it all the time: We label somebody. Somebody fibs to you: &#8216;Oh, you&#8217;re a liar.&#8217; Well, that&#8217;s a big blanket to put on somebody. If you call someone a liar, they get defensive: &#8216;Whoa, my whole being? You mean I&#8217;m all about untruths?'&#8221;
&#8220;But if you say, &#8216;No, that was a lie,&#8217; that person has the choice now to go, &#8216;I know, I&#8217;m sorry about that,'&#8221; McConaughey continued.

Camila and Matthew tied the knot in 2012 and the couple share three children together, <a href="https://people.com/matthew-mcconaughey-s-wife-camila-says-his-getting-high-image-isn-t-real-7775486?utm_campaign=people&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=instagram&amp;utm_content=likeshop" target="_blank" rel="noopener">People</a> noted.
Alves previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/matthew-mcconaugheys-wife-opens-up-on-their-decision-to-leave-malibu-for-a-life-that-embodies-their-belief-system-in-texas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">talked</a> about the couple&#8217;s decision to move out of California to Texas to raise their three kids in a life that &#8220;embodies&#8221; their &#8220;belief system.&#8221;
&#8220;It really embodies our belief system, especially the ones I grew up with, like going to church every Sunday, saying &#8216;yes ma&#8217;am&#8217; or &#8216;no, sir,'&#8221; Camila said.
&#8220;I grew up saying those things coming from a family of farmers,&#8221; she added. &#8220;For me, being from Brazil and then coming to Texas, I discovered a lot of similarities in terms of what families practice here, especially going to church on Sundays, and being very into the outdoors. It&#8217;s been a great transition.&#8221;
&#8220;We lived in Malibu for many years and having the paparazzi outside our door every day — every single day — when that becomes your normal, you don&#8217;t realize how much that&#8217;s actually affecting the things you do until you actually leave and get out of it,&#8221; the superstar actor&#8217;s wife continued. &#8220;The kids get to have a private way of growing up. So from that perspective, it was very important.&#8221;
Alves also talked about the challenges of making time for date nights with her husband, which she said sometimes means the couple just steals away for a minute to reconnect.
&#8220;Sometimes it&#8217;s as simple as a staycation,&#8221; Camila said. &#8220;Or, &#8216;I&#8217;m sending the kids over to a family member, so we can stay home and have a drink together.’
&#8220;I have this thing — we have a tree on our property,&#8221; she added. &#8220;I sometimes say to Matt, &#8216;Let&#8217;s meet today before dinner and watch the sunset under the tree.&#8217; We&#8217;ll just sit under the tree and have a drink together. It&#8217;s about sharing those simple little moments together in between everything that&#8217;s going on. It&#8217;s about those little moments to keep reconnecting.&#8221;

Model Camila Alves recently revealed just how far her mother-in-law went to &#8220;test&#8221; her when she and Matthew McConaughey first started seeing each other.
Alves made the revelation during Tuesday&#8217;s episode of the &#8220;Southern Living: Biscuits and Jam&#8221; <a href="https://www.southernliving.com/biscuits-and-jam-camila-alves-mcconaughey-s4-ep19-7574422" target="_blank" rel="noopener">podcast</a>, saying that although she now has a very close relationship with Mary McCabe, things weren&#8217;t always as easy between them.
&#8220;She did all these things when I first came in the picture, right? She was really testing me,&#8221; Alves said. &#8220;I mean, really testing me.&#8221;
&#8220;She would call me by all of Matthew’s ex-girlfriends’ names, she would start speaking Spanish with me in a very broken way, kind of putting [me] down a bit. I mean, all kinds of stuff,&#8221; Alves — who hails from Brazil — explained.
Alves said that things finally came to a head when the two traveled together to Istanbul — a trip she had to take for work – and had invited McCabe to come along in an effort to reach out to her.
&#8220;I got a job to go to Istanbul to go do a fashion show there. And that job, comes with the perks of you get another first class ticket, you get another night&#8217;s hotel room, you get this, you get the driver. And I was like, &#8216;Ma Mac, you&#8217;re gonna come with me.&#8217; The whole way there, the whole plane ride to Istanbul, she was telling me all these stories and putting all these things in my head. Enough that, when we landed, I was like, &#8216;Okay, all right. Let me buckle up. Let me get ready for this situation.'&#8221;
It wasn&#8217;t until a few days into the trip that she saw another side of &#8220;Ma Mac,&#8221; and suddenly everything changed. &#8220;About day three, I was taking her to her room, and she got into this whole other thing that it&#8217;s not my place to share, and she starts crying, and I&#8217;m like, &#8216;Oh my gosh!&#8217; You know, &#8216;Ma Mac!&#8217; and feeling so sorry. And as I put her to bed, I look at her and I&#8217;m like, &#8216;Oh my gosh. She&#8217;s full of s***.'&#8221;

&#8220;So I just flip it on her and brought my spicy Brazilian, Latin side, and I let her have it. So I went back at her, and we had it back and forth, back and forth,&#8221; the model continued, noting that it soon became apparent that McCabe had simply been waiting for her to show some spine and give as good as she got. &#8220;And then at the end, she just looked at me and she was like, &#8216;OK. Now you’re in.'&#8221;
&#8220;You passed the test,&#8221; interviewer Sid Evans replied with a laugh, and Alves agreed.
&#8220;All she wanted was for me to fight back. And then from that day on, that night on, we have the most amazing relationship, and I have so much respect for her. She has so much respect for me. I mean, it can get tricky sometimes, you know? But we always end with a good laugh and a joke,&#8221; she said.

Actor Matthew McConaughey said during an interview over the weekend that he thinks that gun control activists should use the term &#8220;gun responsibility&#8221; instead of &#8220;gun control&#8221; in order to win support from Second Amendment advocates.
McConaughey, who was vocal in advocating for change after the Uvalde, Texas, shooting, made the remarks during an <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/week-transcript-7-30-23-gov-chris-sununu/story?id=101818441">interview</a> on ABC News&#8217; &#8220;This Week&#8221; with Jonathan Karl.
McConaughey announced his new Green Lights Grant Initiative that he founded with his wife Camilla to help schools access federal grant money for safety and security.
He said that despite Congress passing the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) last year, which approved funding for mental health services and school security in response to the Uvalde shooting, the money has not gone out to the schools.
He said that 12 schools in the area had applied for the funding but none had received it.
&#8220;What are we doing?&#8221; McConaughey said. &#8220;That’s a zero percent success rate. One, way too few applications. Number two, the 12 applications, we went zero for twelve?&#8221;
&#8220;The government admits that it shouldn’t be this complicated. You got 14,000 something schools,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;This grant initiative is going to connect those districts to those billions of dollars that’s there, available, and wants to be used to make our kids safe.&#8221;
McConaughey said that the reason that more gun control has not been implemented after tragedies was because of the way that the debate was being framed.
&#8220;Well, one of the things — it was just one word,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I went in there and flipped, seemed to get those hard second amendment defenders&#8217; ears to at least listen and that was — I changed the word from &#8216;control&#8217; to &#8216;responsibility.'&#8221;
&#8220;Control sounds like a mandate and nobody wants a mandate,&#8221; he said. &#8220;No one wants to be controlled. But responsibility is still something that we can all go, yeah, &#8216;I&#8217;ll take responsibility&#8217;, and a lot of the far-right or the Republicans, they almost feel like responsibility is a value that they have ownership of and it&#8217;s a sense of almost pride and honor to be responsible.&#8221;
McConaughey <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/matthew-mcconaughey-mulls-tx-governor-run-previously-suggested-people-take-one-for-the-team-give-up-some-gun-rights">said</a> at a 2018 rally for the anti-gun March For Our Lives group in Austin, Texas, that law-abiding gun owners needed to “take one for the team” and give up some of their gun rights, including the ability to own semi-automatic long guns and magazines that have the ability to carry certain amounts of ammunition.
“One, let’s ban the assault weapons for civilians. This is a no-brainer,” he said. “And to my friends out there, that are responsible owners of these assault weapons that they use for recreation, please let’s take one for the team and set it down.”

Matthew McConaughey Wants To Change The Term ‘Gun Control’ To Pass More Gun Control

Actor Woody Harrelson confirmed that there was &#8220;some veracity&#8221; to fellow actor and friend <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/topic/matthew-mcconaughey/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Matthew McConaughey&#8217;s</a> claim that the two could be half-brothers — possibly sharing the same father – during a Tuesday interview.
Harrelson appeared on Tuesday&#8217;s broadcast of &#8220;The Late Show with Stephen Colbert&#8221; and he told the host that McConaughey&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/matthew-mcconaughey-says-woody-harrelson-might-be-his-biological-brother-theres-possible-receipts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent suggestion</a> might not be too far off the mark.

Colbert mentioned the &#8220;Dallas Buyers Club&#8221; actor&#8217;s comments, prompting a response from Harrelson.
&#8220;Well, I&#8217;ll just say there is some veracity to that thought, because we talked to Ma Mac, Matthew&#8217;s legitimate mother, and she let us know one time — it&#8217;s crazy, we were in Greece. We were watching the U.S. team win the World Cup, and I don&#8217;t know, I mentioned something about regrets,&#8221; Harrelson explained. &#8220;And I said, &#8216;You know, it&#8217;s odd that my father has no regrets.&#8217; And I&#8217;ve known Ma Mac a long time, and she goes, &#8216;I &#8230; knew &#8230; your father.'&#8221;
&#8220;It was the ellipses I found a little troubling or interesting,&#8221; Harrelson continued. &#8220;&#8216;I knew your father.'&#8221;
Harrelson described McConaughey&#8217;s mother&#8217;s pause at that particular point as &#8220;filled with innuendo.&#8221;
&#8220;A pregnant pause, perhaps,&#8221; Colbert joked. Harrelson went on to add to the story — saying that &#8220;Ma Mac,&#8221; as he calls her, had been &#8220;on a sabbatical&#8221; from her relationship with McConaughey&#8217;s father during the time that she might have conceived him. That, coupled with the very suspicious manner in which she claimed she &#8220;knew&#8221; Harrelson&#8217;s father, had given both actors pause.
&#8220;The thing is we want to go and test. But for him, it&#8217;s a much more big deal. I mean, he feels like he&#8217;s losing a father. But I&#8217;m like, &#8216;No you&#8217;re gaining a different father and a brother,&#8221; Harrelson added.

McConaughey made the revelation just a week earlier while talking with television host Kelly Ripa for her Sirius XM &#8220;Let&#8217;s Talk Off-Camera&#8221; podcast, adding that the furor surrounding their possible relationship was just an extension of their friendship.
&#8220;You know, where I start and where he ends, and where he starts and I end, has always been like a murky line. And that’s part of our bromance, right?&#8221; McConaughey said at the time.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/matthew-mcconaughey">Matthew McConaughey</a> and Woody Harrelson are close friends, and now McConaughey claims there’s a chance they’re related by blood, too.
The “True Detective” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">star</a> broached the topic during an <a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/lets-talk-off-camera-with-kelly-ripa/id1676166337?i=1000608544162">episode</a> of Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast while promoting the new <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">Apple TV+</a> series, “Brother From Another Mother.”
“You know, where I start and where he ends, and where he starts and I end, has always been like a murky line,” McConaughey said of his close friendship with Harrelson. “And that’s part of our bromance, right? My kids call him Uncle Woody. His kids call me Uncle Matthew. And you see pictures of us and my family thinks a lot of pictures of him are me. His family thinks a lot of pictures of me are him.”
“In Greece a few years ago, we’re sitting around talking about how close we are and our families,” McConaughey continued. “And my mom is there, and she says, ‘Woody, I knew your dad.’ Everyone was aware of the ellipses that my mom left after ‘knew.’ It was a loaded K-N-E-W.”
McConaughey has already discussed his parents’ on-again, off-again relationship in his memoir, “Greenlights.”
His parents, Kay McCabe and Jim McConaughey, were married and divorced twice before remarrying a third time. It was shortly after that third marriage that McCabe found out she was pregnant with the future Hollywood star. 
McCabe previously <a href="https://www.today.com/parents/matthew-mcconaughey-s-mom-shares-mantra-guided-her-parenting-t156751">said</a> she named her son Matthew because he was a “gift from God.” After giving birth to her oldest son, Michael, she struggled to get pregnant for years due to Jim&#8217;s low sperm count. She adopted their son Patrick and was surprised to find herself pregnant with Matthew.
His mother’s insinuation made McConaughey think about digging into his family history.

McConaughey said, “We went on to unpack what this ‘knew’ meant and did some math and found out that [Harrelson’s] dad was on furlough at the same time that my mom and dad were in their second divorce. Then there’s possible receipts and places out in West Texas where there might have been a gathering, or a meeting, or a ‘knew’ moment.”
The actor said he isn’t sure about doing a DNA test to confirm these suspicions.
“Look, it’s a little easier for Woody to say, ‘Come on, let’s do [DNA tests],’ because what’s the skin in it for him?” McConaughey said during the podcast interview. “It’s a little harder for me because he’s asking me to take a chance to go, ‘Wait a minute, you’re trying to tell me my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing that?’ I got a little more skin in the game.”
McConaughey’s father died in 1992. His mother is an actress.

During the 53-year-old actor&#8217;s recent appearance on &#8220;<a href="https://armchairexpertpod.com/pods/matthew-mcconaughey-returns">Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard</a>,&#8221; McConaughey welcomed the opportunity to be on set again after spending the last four years focusing more on public service and writing his book, &#8220;Greenlights.&#8221;
&#8220;To go have some structure like, &#8216;I got a call time, I&#8217;ve got lines, I&#8217;ve got scenes, I&#8217;ve got a character,'&#8221; McConaughey <a href="https://twitter.com/nypost/status/1645818586173145088?s=20">told the host</a>. &#8220;That sounds like a vacation right now to me.&#8221;
&#8220;The last few years I had a really wonderful time getting rid of a lot of those filters that come with acting,&#8221; he added.

The &#8220;Dallas Buyer&#8217;s Club&#8221; star didn&#8217;t share information about the spinoff&#8217;s possible title or what his role will be on the show. However, he did talk about being anxious to see how much his strength as an actor has grown following all his work off-screen. McConaughey was last seen on the big screen in 2019&#8217;s &#8220;The Gentlemen.&#8221;
&#8220;I am now becoming more interested in actually going to play another character in a movie or a TV show because all of the last four years of culminating and writing and getting these things together and getting more into some public service,&#8221; McConaughey said.
&#8220;The idea of going to act in the right role or the right movie, film or series right now, I&#8217;ll be a different or improved actor in my own right after these last three years,&#8221; he added.
News of McConaughey&#8217;s inclusion in the &#8220;Yellowstone&#8221; franchise comes amid rumors that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kevin-costner">Kevin Costner</a> could leave the show due to scheduling conflicts.
