Marvel actress Evangeline Lilly has spoken out against what she described as the recent push to make men less masculine and women less feminine.

The 43-year-old took to Instagram accusing Hollywood of pushing a double standard where masculine men are trashed, but women who exhibit the same traits are considered “cool.”

“Why are we only applauding masculinity in women and [villainizing] it in men?” Lilly wrote. “And why are we only applauding femininity in men and debasing it in women? Why can’t we just allow for all of it?”

“Why do we feel the need to vilify a man wearing s***-kicker boots, driving a pick-up truck who’s not afraid to punch someone in the face, but if they were a woman, they would be the epitome of cool?” she added. “Why is a man who loves make-up, cries easily and stays at home to tend to the domestic responsibilities valiant, but a woman who does the same is pathetic?”

The “Ant-Man” star said it’s time we return to the old rule, “Do not judge…Let each be who they are and let us teach grace and charity above all things.”

Lilly concluded her lengthy post by writing: “Grace and charity are cornerstones of a thriving society and should not be abandoned. We need them like we need democracy, justice and peace. And, without them, we can’t have democracy, justice or peace.”

She made headlines earlier this year after saying both Disney and Marvel supported her after she protested against vaccine mandates in her home country of Canada, Fox News noted.

“I’ve had direct conversations with them that I have instigated, and they’ve always said, ‘That’s not our business. That’s not for us to tell you how to live your life or what opinions to have,'” the actress said.

“And I actually even got a really supportive phone call from Peyton Reed [Marvel director] at one point and just saying like, ‘Just so you know, there’s some rumors spreading about Marvel ditching you or canceling you. And that didn’t come from Marvel and that didn’t come from us, so just ignore that,” she added.
