Macaulay Culkin decided to legally change his middle name, and in this age of the internet, he (of course) decided to let fans choose his new name.
Late last month, the star of the “Home Alone” movies, now 38, posted on his Bunny Ears website that he didn’t much like his middle name. “My middle name is something dumb. Larry? Orange? Honestly, I can’t even remember it,” he quipped.
Culkin’s current middle name is Carson.
“So I asked you all to send some better options so I can go down to the courthouse and explain to a judge why I need to change my middle name to something cool,” the actor said.
The whole process went about as you’d guess.
Four of the top five fan choices were “Publicity Stunt,” “TheMcRibIsBack,” “Kieran” — his younger brother’s name — and “Shark Week.”
But the winner was his full first and last name — Macaulay Culkin – which earned nearly 61,000 votes.
On Christmas Day, Culkin announced on Twitter that he’ll legally change his name in 2019 to Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin.
But it couldn’t have been worse: Fans could’ve chosen McMacauley McCulkinface.
Fans also had some other good names.
