Another viral story that was allowed to trend on Twitter this week that demonized law enforcement officials has been debunked by law enforcement officials.
Leftists falsely claimed that a 13-year-old boy was shot 19 times by law enforcement officers from the New York Police Department (NYPD) on Tuesday night when, in fact, the person was a 34-year-old man who police say had shot another man and was coming toward them with a firearm and ignored repeated calls from them to drop his weapon.
An apparent supporter of the far-left Black Lives Matter organization tweeted out the video which was viewed millions of times and retweeted over 40,000 times, and received no warning label from Twitter for spreading false information.
The account wrote: “this video keeps getting deleted around twitter so here’s the video of a 13yo boy getting shot 19 times by NYPD.”

One of the initial accounts that spread misinformation about what happened was Rachel Millman, who Chief Terence A. Monahan, NYPD Chief of Department, responded directly to, writing: “This is inaccurate information. The armed man who was shot by police was 34-years-old and had just shot another man.”

NBC New York reported:
Cops were responding to reports of shots fired in Crown Heights just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night, according to Chief of Department Terence Monahan. As they were conducting their search in the area around the intersection of Bergen Street and Rochester Avenue, they found a man who had been shot and had crawled away after suffering the injury, a senior NYPD official said.
Officers went to look for the shooter, and discovered he was hiding behind a tree between a nearby playground and a fence, Monahan said. The gunman came out and was coming toward the cops with the gun raised, according to police. After instructing the suspect to drop the gun for around a minute, Monahan said, approximately 10 cops then opened fire, striking the suspect multiple times.
Other leftists used the situation to try to falsely portray the police as racist, even though there is little evidence that is true, by comparing other situations to the false portrayal of what happened last night.
One Twitter user wrote: “A 13 year old ‘had a gun’ and the NYPD shot him 19 times but when a white man walks around in public with a huge ass gun they don’t do jack shit. NINETEEN TIMES!!! And republicans still wonder why there’s protests in all 50 states.”

Far-left Democrat Abdul El-Sayed posted a picture of protesters at the Michigan state capitol who were armed and wrote: “Remember when the police shot these guys 19 times because they ‘had a gun’? Oh, wait…that was a Black man in New York.”

El-Sayed’s tweet was false because the protesters in Michigan were legally allowed to have firearms with them at the state capitol.
