The Mandalay Bay security guard who confronted the Las Vegas shooter moments before he began firing on a country music concert went missing Thursday night as he was set to break his silence with a string of TV interviews.
Jesus Campos, who was shot by gunman Stephen Paddock, disappeared moments before he was set to go on camera. He reportedly bolted, and “as of early Friday morning, it wasn’t immediately clear where he was,” Fox News reported.
Campos’ union president supposedly told reporters: “We were in a room and we came out and he was gone.”
Fox News’ Sean Hannity tweeted last night that Campos cancelled his scheduled Thursday night appearance on Hannity.
Recent conflicting reports from authorities on the timeline of events leading up to the shooting has put Campos in the spotlight.
Originally, officials said that Campos was shot after Paddock was finished attacking the concert at approximately 10:18 p.m. That timeline changed this week when authorities said that Campos was shot at 9:59 p.m. — approximately six minutes before Paddock attacked the concert.
The change in the events leading up the shooting led many to ask why authorities did not respond sooner to Paddock before he executed his plans.
