Here’s a little-covered story from the Harvey Weinstein case. Dr. Barbara Ziv, a psychiatrist who gave crucial testimony for the successful prosecution of Weinstein on rape charges, was hit by a car shortly afterward while crossing a street. She was hospitalized with multiple broken bones. There is no evidence that this was an act of revenge for Ziv’s testimony. And, of course, only the craziest of crazy conspiracy theorists could ever conceive that a person connected to a sex offender with ties to the Clintons would be violently attacked.
Still, let’s say someone was looking to get even with Ziv. Who would the suspects be? My suggestion: every single cultural leftist in the country. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were all in the car, every damn one of them, like clowns in a circus Volkswagen.
Why do I say so? Well, Ziv’s testimony was meant to explain to the jury why the women Weinstein raped continued having friendly relations with him, sometimes including consensual sex. Historically, it’s been hard for prosecutors to get a conviction when a woman who claimed she was raped continued in relationship with her rapist. That’s what made Ziv’s testimony crucial to the prosecution’s case.
Most rape victims — at least 85% of them — are raped by someone they know, Ziv told the court. “It is very rare that when women have been sexually assaulted by someone they know that they go to the police… Sometimes women will have subsequent contact with the perpetrator because they can’t really believe that this happened to them… They’re hoping that this is just an aberration. You hear that all the time.” Sometimes, she said, the victim fears the rapist will ruin her reputation or her career.
There’s something else, though, too. Both Jessica Mann and Miriam Haley — the women Weinstein was convicted of raping — had histories of childhood abuse. Women who are abused as children are several times more likely to be re-victimized as adults. Studies differ, but I’ve read that children who are abused are two, three — even seven — times more likely to be raped as adults.
As I understand it, being sexually abused as a child can send all your social systems into dysfunction. It causes you to confuse pain and pleasure, abuse and affection. It causes you to hold on to those who hurt you because you fear losing the bonds that give life meaning. Being sexually abused as a child sets you up for later victimhood.
So my question is this. Who’s been messing with our children’s sexuality?
I’m not talking about individuals who commit crimes. I know there are individual leftist and conservative abusers both. No one is righteous. But that’s not the point. I’m talking about ideas.
Who sells the idea that children can rightly be sexualized by adults?
Who cheers for child drag queen Desmond as his parents send him out to parade in women’s clothes in front of slavering men? ABC’s Good Morning America did a lavishly enchanted feature on the poor kid. That’s ABC — where they spiked the story about Jeffrey Epstein and his abuse of underage girls just as NBC spiked the Weinstein story.
Where do people go when they want to preach that children should be sexually butchered if they express any doubts about their gender? The New York Times is one place. Who passes laws requiring that children who haven’t even learned what normalcy is must be schooled in sexual abnormalcy by agents of the state who should be teaching them grammar and math? The Democrats in New Jersey did that.
And oh yeah — where did Weinstein do his thing? Hollywood. Where they make movie after movie normalizing or excusing the sexual use of children: “Towelhead,” “The Reader,” “Doubt,” “The Woodsman,” “Notes on a Scandal,” “Birth,” on and on.
This is the same Hollywood, where — led by Harvey Weinstein — they signed a successful petition for the release of director Roman Polanski so he wouldn’t be extradited back to the U.S. to face justice for drugging and sodomizing a 13-year-old girl. “Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion,” Weinstein explained.
They all worked with Polanski, even after they knew. They gave him an Oscar, after they knew. They all worked with Harvey. They all knew.
Sending a little boy out to do drag shows is child abuse. Irreparably changing a child’s body is child abuse. Teachers teaching sex to children without their parents to supply values — child abuse. An adult having sex with a child — that’s rape per se — a child can’t give consent. It’s child abuse.
Women who were abused as children are much more likely to be raped and more likely to stay with their rapists afterward.
The left is helping to create the future victims of the future Harvey Weinsteins.
