Kid Cudi made good on his threat to leave the stage on Friday when fans kept throwing water bottles at him during his set at the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami

The 38-year-old rapper, whose real name is Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, was performing as the headliner in place of Kanye West, who pulled out at the last minute. NBC News reported that during his fourth song, audience members started throwing water bottles, leading the “Pursuit of Happiness” singer to stop the show and address the crowd.

“Yo, I will walk off this stage if you all throw one more f***ing thing up here, I will leave, I will leave right now,” Cudi said after getting pelted.

“Throw one more f***ing thing on this stage and I’ll walk off, I’m not f***ing playing. I’m not f***ing playing, you will ruin it for everybody,” he promised.

Almost immediately after warning of those consequences, another water bottle got hurled onstage. The rapper quickly walked off and refused to continue performing.

West had canceled just days before the show but did appear for a cameo during Lil Durk’s set that night to perform “Hot S***.” The pair also sang “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1,” which NBC News noted is a song featuring Cudi.

Rolling Loud Festival issued a statement responding to the incident. “Rolling Loud is a family. Our fans, the artists, and everyone involved need to look out for each other. Share the love and be respectful to everyone. We love you, Cudi. Please take care of each other and let’s have an amazing day 2!”

The promoters had previously responded to West pulling out and leaving so many fans disappointed. “We were looking forward to Ye headlining Rolling Loud Miami 2022. We spent months working with him and his team on the performance. Unfortunately, Ye has decided that he will no longer be performing.”

“This is the first time a headliner has ever pulled off our show and though we don’t take it lightly, we wish him the best,” the statement continued. “We look forward to welcoming Kid Cudi as a headliner in Miami and we can’t wait to see what he has in store.”

Twitter had all kinds of reactions to the incident, with most insisting that Rolling Loud should have offered refunds.

“Rolling Loud announces Kanye as headliner, people pay a months salary for tickets/flights/hotel/etc. Kanye then pulls out, no partial refund given. Replaced with Cudi, who then walks off stage in the middle of the show. How tf don’t these festivals get sued by everyone?” one person wrote

“I don’t agree with the throwing things at him, but rolling loud definitely should’ve offered people a refund once they knew Kanye was not coming,” someone else agreed
