Singer Chappell Roan backtracked on offering condolences for deceased French film actress Brigitte Bardot after finding out she had conservative views. 
Bardot passed away on Sunday at the age of 91, prompting Roan to share on her Instagram stories, “Rest in peace Ms. Bardot. She was my inspiration for red wine supernova.” 
However, her sorrow was short-lived. The 27-year-old recording artist later deleted the post and explained herself in a follow-up post on Monday. “Holy sh** I did not know all that insane shit Mr. Bardot stood for. I do not condone this. Very disappointing to learn.”
Roan’s song “Red Wine Supernova” mentions the French movie star, with one of the lines saying, “She was a playboy, Brigitte Bardot / She showed me things I didn’t know.”
Per <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/brigitte-bardot-tribute-france-split-far-right-views/">CBS News</a>, the citizens of France were “split” on how to honor the star because of her views. 
Bardot became a breakout star after appearing in the 1956 film &#8220;And God Created Woman.&#8221; Her career flourished after that. She quit the industry in 1973 and became an animal rights activist.

She was also openly conservative. The outlet noted that she was convicted five times for “hate speech,” including critical comments about Muslims infiltrating France. She <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7434193.stm">was fined</a> €15,000 (about $23,000) in 2008 after posting on her website that Muslims were &#8220;destroying our country by imposing their ways.” Multiple outlets also accused her of homophobic and racist rhetoric.
Bardot was also critical of the #MeToo movement, <a href="https://apnews.com/99bc10dfab2047dbb824671f4a9602bf">saying</a> in 2018 she thought it was “charming to be told that I was beautiful or that I had a nice little ass.”
Bardot married Bernard d’Ormale in 1992. He was a former advisor to Jean-Marie Le Pen, founder of France’s conservative National Front party.

Country artist Kelsea Ballerini has struck a chord with “I Sit In Parks,” a song about yearning for motherhood after being told that chasing career success would deliver deep and lasting happiness.
“I Sit in Parks” feels less like a song and more like a mirror held up to an entire generation of women who were told they could have it all if they chased achievement first and dealt with the marriage and family stuff later. It gives voice to the quiet grief of realizing the consequences of that choice.
And while Ballerini hasn’t said the song was autobiographical, that’s how many fans are seeing it.
Her lyrics begin with the image that many women know well but rarely speak about:
“I sit in parks, it breaks my heart, ’cause I see / Just how far I am from the things that I want / Dad brought the picnic, Mom brought the sunscreen / Two kids are laughing and crying on red swings.”
These lyrics aren’t about envy of another woman’s designer clothes or corner office. They speak of a deep, vulnerable ache for motherhood and family life.
“We look about the same age / But we don&#8217;t have the same Saturdays,” the song goes on. “Did I miss it?/ By now, is it/ A lucid dream? Is it my fault/ For chasing things a body clock/ Doesn&#8217;t wait for? I did the damn tour/ It&#8217;s what I wanted, what I got/ I spun around and then I stopped/ And wonder if I missed the mark.”

Ballerini’s frank admissions have emboldened women to weigh in on social media.
“Wow. The picture painted by Kelsea Ballerini in this song is tragic. How many hearts has feminism broken with its lies?” one person <a href="https://x.com/biblicalbeauty/status/1986955863370715335?s=43">observed</a>.
“This is grim,” another commenter <a href="https://x.com/IndieLauraSDG/status/1987218755211104468">said</a> of the song. “I feel so sad for the girls who got duped into putting off the most important things in life.”
“My gosh, this is one of the saddest things I’ve ever read. I’m 45 with a 15-month-old, so this almost became my reality. An entire generation of women has been sold a bill of goods under false pretenses,” a third commenter <a href="https://x.com/Babelfish80/status/1987157480879604153">replied</a>.
“As a single girl in her thirties, I’ve never related to a song more,” a popular comment on the YouTube music video for the song says. 
“I wasn’t prepared for this. As a single girl at 39 this song hits so deep,” another person wrote.
Predictably, there were plenty who shot back, saying they were perfectly content in their choice not to have kids. But the marvel of Ballerini’s song isn’t just the message, but also that it’s coming from a mainstream artist.
It’s telling that at the same time this single started gaining traction, the radical pro-abortion Center for Reproductive Rights began circulating an <a href="https://x.com/ReproRights/status/1986939347250143385">old interview</a> with singer Stevie Nicks discussing how her abortion in the 1970s &#8220;allowed her to continue her career at the height of Fleetwood Mac.&#8221;
Nicks described her unexpected pregnancy as a “nightmare scenario” that would have “destroyed” the band. During that interview, she spent no time reflecting on how her life would have unfolded if she hadn’t decided to sacrifice her child on the altar of fame. It’s a much more common outlook that other celebrities have spoken of, while Ballerini’s wistful reflection on what could have been is almost never heard.
“So, I sit in parks, sunglasses dark, and I/ Hit the vape, hallucinate a nursery with Noah&#8217;s Ark/ They lay on a blanket, and God d*** it, he loves her/ I wonder if she wants my freedom, like I wanna be a mother/ But Rolling Stones says I&#8217;m on the right road/ So I refill my Lexapro, thinking…” she sings. 
Interestingly, Ballerini was married young and got divorced within five years because her husband, Morgan Evans, wanted to have children right away while she preferred to freeze her eggs and delay becoming a mom, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kelsea-ballerini-claims-her-marriage-ended-when-morgan-evans-wanted-kids-while-she-pursued-egg-freezing-route">reported</a>.
“That was something that we had talked about early on, and that was something that I was changing on,” the singer said during a 2023 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. &#8220;Cause he was ready. He was like, ‘I don’t want to be an old dad,’ is what he kept saying. And I was like, ‘I’m not there yet, and I can’t do that to save this and give you something that I’m not ready for.&#8217;”
Ballerini said she “wasn’t ready for kids” and decided to visit a doctor to discuss egg freezing, which she planned to do before turning 30. She didn’t discuss the appointment with Evans until later.
“It was not a good day,” Ballerini said of telling her husband about her plan. “And I think that was when I was like, there’s a fundamental difference here that has happened, that has shifted. And it’s no longer like, I don’t see this person, I miss this person, I’m alone, I’m lonely. It’s like, he wants something out of life … [and] I’m not there.”
The “Half of My Hometown” singer said she filed for divorce not long after that conversation in August 2022. 
There’s a chance Ballerini wrote the song to make money, knowing it would make headlines and she could capitalize on the buzz it would generate. There’s a chance she doesn’t regret her decision to chase a career rather than becoming a mom sooner.
But either way, based on the reactions and comments, there is a group of women who feel duped by the subtle yet relentless messaging to build their careers and identities first and worry about marriage and family later… or never.
In practice, biology never agreed to that timeline. These women were told that motherhood was a detour from fulfillment, not part of it, and that it was equally if not more noble to collect passport stamps. 
They were told motherhood was a cage. That freedom was the goal. Yet in this song, the woman with all the freedom and fame is also the one with a broken heart.

The newly-named Trump-Kennedy Center is not letting a performer off the hook for bailing on a concert over politics.
In a letter, the president of the Trump-Kennedy Center, Ric Grenell, tells the jazz musician who pulled out of a Christmas concert at the last minute over the center&#8217;s &#8220;Trump&#8221; name-change that it will seek $1 million in damages for the abrupt cancellation.
&#8220;Your dismal ticket sales and lack of donor support, combined with your last-minute cancellation has cost us considerably,&#8221; Grenell said in a letter to musician Chuck Redd. &#8220;This is your official notice that we will seek $1 million in damages from you for this political stunt.&#8221;
&#8220;This institution remains dedicated to excellence and accessibility for generations to come, and we will not yield to the pressure tactics being directed at us from political performers on our stages,&#8221; Grenell said. &#8220;True artists perform for everyone regardless of the political affiliation of audience members.&#8221;
Redd was scheduled to host the “Christmas Eve Jazz Jam&#8221; on December 24 — a show he&#8217;s performed annually since 2006. He pulled out days before the performance, citing Trump&#8217;s name addition to the iconic center. He has admitted that he cancelled the concert because the center&#8217;s board voted to change the name from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to the Donald J. Trump and the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.
&#8220;When I saw the name change on the Kennedy Center website and then hours later on the building, I chose to cancel our concert,&#8221; Redd <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kennedy-center-christmas-eve-jazz-concert-canceled-after-trump-name-added-to-building/">told</a> the Associated Press.

Roma Daravi, the top spokeswoman for the center, slammed Redd for his &#8220;selfish&#8221; and &#8220;intolerant&#8221; decision to pull out of the performance.
&#8220;Any artist cancelling their show at the Trump Kennedy Center over political differences isn’t courageous or principled—they are selfish, intolerant, and have failed to meet the basic duty of a public artist: to perform for all people,&#8221; Daravi told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;Art is a shared cultural experience meant to unite, not exclude,&#8221; Daravi said. &#8220;The Trump-Kennedy Center is a true bipartisan institution that welcomes artists and patrons from all backgrounds—great art transcends politics, and America’s cultural center remains committed to presenting popular programming that inspires and resonates with all audiences.&#8221;

Grenell similarly said Redd&#8217;s abrupt cancelation &#8220;is classic intolerance and very costly to a non-profit Arts institution.&#8221;

Legendary recording artist Barry Manilow revealed that he’s been diagnosed with lung cancer and will need to reschedule some of his upcoming concerts.
The 82-year-old “Copacabana” singer gave an update to fans with a statement posted to Instagram.
&#8220;The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed,&#8221; Manilow wrote in the statement.
&#8220;It&#8217;s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early,&#8221; he went on. &#8220;The doctors do not believe it has spread, and I&#8217;m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis.&#8221;
The singer said he is &#8220;going into surgery to have the spot removed,&#8221; which means he’ll have to reschedule the January shows on his “Christmas: A Gift of Love” series. He promised to return to the stage on Valentine’s Day weekend in 2026.

Manilow apologized for the inconvenience, telling fans, &#8220;We were all looking forward to the January shows and hate having to move everything around.” He also urged his followers to stay vigilant when it comes to their health.

A recent video claims that the Christmas song &#8220;Jingle Bells&#8221; is racist. And lest you think that&#8217;s absurd, let me say that no less a philosopher than Joy Reid retweeted the video, because she had nothing better to do since MSNBC canceled her show when they found they couldn’t fit a camera into her padded cell. To be fair, MSNBC also canceled MSNBC, changing its name to MS-NOW, which caused the MSNBC audience to sit up and say, “Where the hell am I?” before she sank back into the marijuana-fueled haze she’s been in since 1969. 
The idea that &#8220;Jingle Bells&#8221; is racist emanates from the work of a Boston University professor who says &#8220;Jingle Bells&#8221; isn’t racist. The professor does say the song may have been first performed in a nineteenth century minstrel show, where white people dressed up as black people in the hope of tricking the audience into thinking they had musical talent. The author of &#8220;Jingle Bells&#8221; wrote songs for such black-face shows, and also fought in the Civil War on the side of the Confederacy, but he’s dead now so he got his. 
What’s left is the song itself. And yes, it certainly is a sinister anthem of racist bigotry with such offensive lyrics as “Now the ground is white,” which clearly suggests white supremacy to anyone who is so google-eyed crazy they wear their baseball cap backwards just in case someone should try to sneak up behind them. The very lyrics, “Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way,” constitute an obvious and vicious attack on the aspirations and dignity of a race of oppressed people whose suffering cries out so loudly and persistently that it is inexplicable how I managed to fall asleep before I even finished writing this sentence. 
Thus, &#8220;Jingle Bells&#8221; joins other foul expressions of Christmas wickedness like “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” That song recreated the age-old ritual of flirtation and seduction that has given both men and women some of the most pleasurable moments of their lives. It thereby angered feminists by reminding them how unfair it is that no one ever flirts with them because their scrunched-up faces and shrill falcon-like voices would shrivel the desire of a satyr, not to mention the fact that squeezing even fifteen seconds of desirable femininity out of those shrikes is barely worth the trouble of lighting their cigarettes, so who cares how cold it is, go home already.

Now, of course, I don’t mean to make fun of the ridiculous clowns who bring these matters to our attention. After all, it’s deeply important not to turn our eyes away from anything about this season that we can pretend is offensive. Otherwise, people might drift off into a state of complacent holiday cheer, humming merrily as they greet one another on the snowy streets with a reawakened sense of fellowship and well-being brought about by the knowledge that the savior of the world was born on Christmas Day to save us all from Satan’s power with his everlasting love and forgiveness. What a waste of our brief time on earth it would be to focus on that, when instead we could be dredging up centuries-old acts of unkindness that may or may not have been committed by people who, anyway, are now long dead — so they got theirs.
We must never allow ourselves to become so immersed in feelings of good will towards men that we miss the opportunity to poison the pleasure of seasonal merry-makers by twisting the facts until we can append some imaginary crime or other to yet another facet of what used to be the happiest season of the year. We must always remember that if we can manage to make even one person feel guilty for something he never even dreamed of doing, it will make us seem like virtuous culture warriors instead of the useless jerkwads we so obviously are.
So remember…. Kristin Cabot, the woman who went viral over the summer after being caught in an intimate moment with her boss Andrew Byron on the kiss cam at a Coldplay concert, has some harsh words for Gwyneth Paltrow.
The former HR exec gave multiple interviews this week and went over some details about the event and aftermath. Cabot was shocked at the level of public outrage over her alleged infidelity, and seemed especially offended that Paltrow joined in the fray.
&#8220;I was such a fan of her company [Goop], which seemed to be about uplifting women,” Cabot told The Times U.K. “And then she did this. I thought, ‘How dare she after the beating she got for all the conscious uncoupling stuff.’ What a hypocrite.”
Cabot said she got rid of all her Goop products as a form of protest.
The former Astronomer employee was referring to Paltrow’s relationship with her ex-husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and how she referenced their separation using unique terminology.
Cabot also made other revelations during the interviews, including insisting that it was her first time ever kissing her former boss and claiming that their relationship was never sexual. The New Hampshire native also revealed that her then-husband, Andrew Cabot, was at the infamous concert. He said in a statement that the couple was estranged at the time of the incident.
Both Cabot and Byron left their positions at the tech company in the wake of the scandal.

Paltrow <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/astronomer-hires-gwyneth-paltrow-to-be-temporary-spokesperson-after-kiss-cam-drama">put out a commercial</a> for the company just days after the kiss cam drama blew up on social media. “I’ve been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer,” the &#8220;Avengers: Endgame&#8221; actress said in the video.
“We’ve been thrilled so many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation,” she went on, poking fun at how the company had gone viral overnight.
Astronomer became a household name after Cabot, the former Chief People Officer for the company, was spotted embracing the CEO. After getting caught on the kiss cam, the two quickly stepped away from each other and out of frame after realizing they were being broadcast to the entire stadium at the July 16 Coldplay show in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
That moment became a pop culture sensation and led to multiple spoofs on social media and at professional sporting events.
Cabot claims she’s been stalked, harassed, doxxed, and has received death threats after the scandal. &#8220;My kids were afraid that I was going to die and they were going to die,&#8221; she <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/style/coldplay-concert-couple-kiss-cam-woman.html">told</a> The New York Times.

Singer Sabrina Carpenter is not happy that her song “Juno” is being used by the Trump administration in a video highlighting illegal immigrants being deported. 
“This video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda,” the pop star wrote on X.
The video in question, which was posted by the official White House X account yesterday, includes clips of ICE agents detaining various people. “Have you ever tried this one? Bye-bye,” the post caption says, referencing the lyrics to the song.

Not long after Carpenter&#8217;s meltdown, the White House clapped back, doubling down on the original sentiment. “Here&#8217;s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: we won&#8217;t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country,” the reply <a href="https://ew.com/white-house-responds-sabrina-carpenter-calling-out-juno-video-11860422">said</a>.  &#8220;Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?&#8221; the response went on, referring to another one of the singer&#8217;s hit songs.
The Trump administration has been using popular songs and lyrics for social media and other promos, and only some of the celebrities have taken public issue with it. Carpenter is well-known for pushing a progressive agenda to her fans. She made her values clear in September during a trans-themed performance at the VMAs featuring drag stars holding picket signs. The Trump administration has taken a strong stance on immigration, with ICE agents doing sweeps of major cities to arrest and deport illegal aliens. This has led to extreme pushback from Democrats and commentary from outspoken leftist celebrities.

Country artist Kelsea Ballerini has struck a chord with “I Sit In Parks,” a song about yearning for motherhood after being told that chasing career success would deliver deep and lasting happiness.
“I Sit in Parks” feels less like a song and more like a mirror held up to an entire generation of women who were told they could have it all if they chased achievement first and dealt with the marriage and family stuff later. It gives voice to the quiet grief of realizing the consequences of that choice.
And while Ballerini hasn’t said the song was autobiographical, that’s how many fans are seeing it.
Her lyrics begin with the image that many women know well but rarely speak about:
“I sit in parks, it breaks my heart, ’cause I see / Just how far I am from the things that I want / Dad brought the picnic, Mom brought the sunscreen / Two kids are laughing and crying on red swings.”
These lyrics aren’t about envy of another woman’s designer clothes or corner office. They speak of a deep, vulnerable ache for motherhood and family life.
“We look about the same age / But we don&#8217;t have the same Saturdays,” the song goes on. “Did I miss it?/ By now, is it/ A lucid dream? Is it my fault/ For chasing things a body clock/ Doesn&#8217;t wait for? I did the damn tour/ It&#8217;s what I wanted, what I got/ I spun around and then I stopped/ And wonder if I missed the mark.”

Ballerini’s frank admissions have emboldened women to weigh in on social media.
“Wow. The picture painted by Kelsea Ballerini in this song is tragic. How many hearts has feminism broken with its lies?” one person <a href="https://x.com/biblicalbeauty/status/1986955863370715335?s=43">observed</a>.
“This is grim,” another commenter <a href="https://x.com/IndieLauraSDG/status/1987218755211104468">said</a> of the song. “I feel so sad for the girls who got duped into putting off the most important things in life.”
“My gosh, this is one of the saddest things I’ve ever read. I’m 45 with a 15 month old, so this almost became my reality. An entire generation of women has been sold a bill of goods under false pretenses,” a third commenter <a href="https://x.com/Babelfish80/status/1987157480879604153">replied</a>.
“As a single girl in her thirties, I’ve never related to a song more,” a popular comment on the YouTube music video for the song says. 
“I wasn’t prepared for this. As a single girl at 39 this song hits so deep,” another person wrote.
Predictably, there were plenty who shot back, saying they were perfectly content in their choice not to have kids. But the marvel of Ballerini’s song isn’t just the message, but also that it’s coming from a mainstream artist.
It’s telling that at the same time this single started gaining traction, the radical pro-abortion Center for Reproductive Rights began circulating an <a href="https://x.com/ReproRights/status/1986939347250143385">old interview</a> with singer Stevie Nicks discussing how her abortion in the 1970s &#8220;allowed her to continue her career at the height of Fleetwood Mac.&#8221;
Nicks described her unexpected pregnancy as a “nightmare scenario” that would have “destroyed” the band. During that interview, she spent no time reflecting on how her life would have unfolded if she hadn’t decided to sacrifice her child on the altar of fame. It’s a much more common outlook that other celebrities have spoken of, while Ballerini’s wistful reflection on what could have been is almost never heard.
“So, I sit in parks, sunglasses dark, and I/ Hit the vape, hallucinate a nursery with Noah&#8217;s Ark/ They lay on a blanket, and God d*** it, he loves her/ I wonder if she wants my freedom, like I wanna be a mother/ But Rolling Stones says I&#8217;m on the right road/ So I refill my Lexapro, thinking…” she sings. 
Interestingly, Ballerini was married young and got divorced within five years because her husband, Morgan Evans, wanted to have children right away while she preferred to freeze her eggs and delay becoming a mom, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kelsea-ballerini-claims-her-marriage-ended-when-morgan-evans-wanted-kids-while-she-pursued-egg-freezing-route">reported</a>.
“That was something that we had talked about early on, and that was something that I was changing on,” the singer said during a 2023 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. &#8220;Cause he was ready. He was like, ‘I don’t want to be an old dad,’ is what he kept saying. And I was like, ‘I’m not there yet, and I can’t do that to save this and give you something that I’m not ready for.&#8217;”
Ballerini said she “wasn’t ready for kids” and decided to visit a doctor to discuss egg freezing, which she planned to do before turning 30. She didn’t discuss the appointment with Evans until later.
“It was not a good day,” Ballerini said of telling her husband about her plan. “And I think that was when I was like, there’s a fundamental difference here that has happened, that has shifted. And it’s no longer like, I don’t see this person, I miss this person, I’m alone, I’m lonely. It’s like, he wants something out of life … [and] I’m not there.”
The “Half of My Hometown” singer said she filed for divorce not long after that conversation in August 2022. 
There’s a chance Ballerini wrote the song to make money, knowing it would make headlines and she could capitalize on the buzz it would generate. There’s a chance she doesn’t regret her decision to chase a career rather than becoming a mom sooner.
But either way, based on the reactions and comments, there is a group of women who feel duped by the subtle yet relentless messaging to build their careers and identities first and worry about marriage and family later… or never.
In practice, biology never agreed to that timeline. These women were told that motherhood was a detour from fulfillment, not part of it, and that it was equally if not more noble to collect passport stamps. 
They were told motherhood was a cage. That freedom was the goal. Yet in this song, the woman with all the freedom and fame is also the one with a broken heart.

“Walk My Walk” by Breaking Rust currently holds that honor despite not being attached to any human artist. There’s not much information available about the “musician” beyond an artist’s bio on Linktree that says, “Music for the fighters and the dreamers.”

Breaking Rust has more than 39,000 followers on Instagram. The <a href="https://www.instagram.com/breakinrust/?hl=en">profile</a> includes videos and stills of a man in a cowboy hat standing in the rain.
News of the song topping the Billboard chart got mixed reactions on social media.
“80% of songs are auto-tuned, single-beat, 2-minute tracks. No sympathy there. But for the remaining 20% of artists who can actually sing, challenge, and surprise listeners? This is tragic,” one person <a href="https://x.com/paraclete06/status/1988295441612750968">wrote</a> in response to the news. 
“I have a feeling that Spotify might be PRO AI as they won’t have to pay royalties or any other fees in case the music is AI generated,” another <a href="https://x.com/hrishikesshhhh/status/1988550471074668883">observed</a>. “But it’s bad for listeners. Bad for artists.”
“A lot of people like AI music, and I don&#8217;t think any amount of shaming is gonna change that,” a third <a href="https://x.com/LegionOThought/status/1988299847678783533">argued</a>. “Just ask the vegans.”
The debate over using AI in creative endeavors has been raging for years and is back in the spotlight as it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish between AI-generated content and human-generated content.
The media labor union SAG-AFTRA recently spoke out against a 100% AI-generated “actress” being touted by its creators as “the next Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman.”
The “synthetic performer,” which goes by the name Tilly Norwood, was concocted by the U.K.-based production studio Particle6.
Tilly Norwood’s creator, Eline Van der Velden, argued that the AI-generated character “is not a replacement for a human being, but a creative work — a piece of art.”
“I see AI not as a replacement for people, but as a new tool, a new paintbrush,” Van der Velden said, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hollywood-actors-union-slams-ai-synthetic-performer-pitched-as-the-next-scarlett-johansson">reported</a>. “Just as animation, puppetry, or CGI opened fresh possibilities without taking away from live acting, AI offers another way to imagine and build stories. Charlotte Jones, daughter of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and current executive vice president and chief brand officer for the team, just weighed in on the Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime show controversy.
The Cowboys exec praised the decision to showcase the Puerto Rican artist, saying, “Our whole society is based on immigrants.”
However, Bad Bunny is not an immigrant. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, a U.S territory, he is a U.S. citizen by birth.
“I think it’s awesome, and I think our Latina fan base is amazing. And I think when you think about the Super Bowl, you want the No. 1 performer in the world to be there,” Jones said during an appearance on “The Katie Miller Podcast.”
She added, “We’re on a global stage and we can’t ever forget that. Our game goes out to everybody around the world, and to get the premier entertainer to want to be a part of our game, I think, is amazing… We have a mixed culture. Our whole society is based on immigrants that came here and founded our country. I think we can celebrate that. I think the show’s going to be amazing.”

The artist’s selection, made in conjunction with Jay-Z’s company Roc Nation, was controversial because of his past anti-ICE statements, including his refusal to schedule any tour stops in the United States due to alleged fears that his fans might be taken into ICE custody at his shows. Miller pressed, asking whether Jones thought it was a political statement, given Bad Bunny’s negative comments about ICE agents.
“I don’t think our game’s about politics,” Jones insisted. “I don’t think people tune in to look at politics. We do everything we can to avoid politics. And I think in that moment, people will be watching the game, they’ll be celebrating music, and nobody will be thinking about what comments on the left side, what comments on the right side. That this is about bringing people together.”
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed last month that there are no plans to replace Bad Bunny as the halftime performer despite the mounting backlash.
“It’s carefully thought through,” Goodell said of the performance, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nfl-commish-gives-update-on-bad-bunny-super-bowl-halftime-show-amid-backlash">reported</a>. “I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching.”
“We’re confident it’s going to be a great show,” the commissioner added. “He’s one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world. That’s what we try to achieve. It’s an important stage for us. It’s an important element to the entertainment value.”
Bad Bunny has called ICE agents “motherf***ers” and “sons of bitches.” He also angered many NFL fans after addressing the backlash that none of his songs were in English, advising them to learn Spanish if they didn’t like it.

For the first time in thirty-five years, there are no rap songs listed among the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart, representing the most popular singles in America.
This occurred after the track “Luther” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA dropped out of the top 40 following a 13-week run at number one.
Currently, the highest-ranking songs in the rap genre are “Shot Callin” by YoungBoy Never Broke Again at number 44, “Safe” by Cardi B at 48, and “Hell at Night” by BigXthaPlug at 49.
The last time there were no rap songs in the Billboard Top 40 was in February 1990, according to <a href="https://www.billboard.com/music/rb-hip-hop/no-rap-songs-hot-100-top-40-first-time-since-1990-1236100625/">Billboard</a>.
Part of the reason for the change is new rules that say descending songs are “recurrent” and removed from the chart if they have appeared for certain durations on the chart while falling below prescribed thresholds. That’s what happened to “Luther,” which dropped to number 38 after being on the chart for 46 weeks. 
Currently, the top song is Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia,” which has been on the chart since its release three weeks ago. Out of the top 40, twelve of the songs are from the pop star’s “The Life of a Showgirl” album. 
Other top ten songs include “Golden,” featured in the hit Netflix series “KPop Demon Hunters,” and the single “Ordinary” by Alex Warren, along with “Daisies” by Justin Bieber and Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need.”
Billboard noted that many rap artists are in an “in-between” period, with fans eagerly awaiting Drake’s upcoming “Iceman” album and with his rival Kendrick Lamar being “somewhat dormant” after years in the spotlight. But <a href="https://www.sfchronicle.com/entertainment/article/no-rap-songs-billboard-21129466.php">per</a> The San Francisco Chronicle, the market share for hip-hop music was almost 30% in 2020 but slipped to 24% this year. Five years ago, there were 16 rap songs in the top 40, while two years ago, that number decreased to 8 songs.

Even those who do not understand his lyrics recognize his artistry and marketing brilliance. He has become a global symbol of Latino influence.
My admiration, however, stops there. As the world prepares to watch his Super Bowl halftime show next February, my heart aches. For all his brilliance, Bad Bunny misunderstands both Puerto Rico and America. His refusal to stand for “God Bless America” during the Major League Baseball playoffs at Yankee Stadium was not an act of protest, it was a moment of detachment. Millions of us who cherish both the island and the mainland felt that sting. We love America; We appreciate its Christian foundation, promise, and opportunity. Simply stated, we believe God has blessed this nation.
Unfortunately, much of what Bad Bunny stands for and espouses in his music not only fails to resonate with many Hispanics in America, but it also fails to honor and understand the community’s deep love for this country.

I will be the first to acknowledge that America is not perfect. But despite that, it remains blessed. This nation is not anti-immigrant. It supports legal immigration.
Hispanics know this better than anyone. Many of us lived that journey or watched our parents walk it. We support borders and order not out of cruelty but out of conviction. We believe in compassion expressed through law. <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/06/26/trump-harris-latino-voters-2024-election-pew" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.axios.com/2025/06/26/trump-harris-latino-voters-2024-election-pew&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1761311002633000&amp;usg=AOvVaw197pP1ngxt9G7_phoNF8Bb">Nearly half of Hispanic voters supported President Trump in 2024</a>. More than half of Hispanic men did the same. That was not betrayal. It reflected deeply held values.
These traditional Hispanic values — faith, family, and freedom — stand in contrast to much of what Bad Bunny promotes. His embrace of transgender ideology and sexually explicit performances does not represent the Latino family gathered around the table after Sunday church. We love God. We honor family. We understand freedom as responsibility, not rebellion. The Latino vote has not drifted to the Right, it has returned home to convictions that have always defined us.
Hispanics also see dissonance in Bad Bunny’s condemnation of capitalism, given that he lives from its blessings. He has praised socialist regimes such as Venezuela, yet his success story could not exist without the free market. He thrives in a system that rewards risk, creativity, and persistence. One cannot criticize capitalism while enjoying everything it provides.
The Hispanic future in America is not secular, cynical, or socialist. It is spiritual, hopeful, and devoted to freedom. We pray. We protect our families. We work hard. We still believe that God blesses nations that honor Him.
But before all of this, Bad Bunny must recognize one fundamental truth: He is an American. Every Puerto Rican is. We are born citizens of the United States. We do not need a passport to enter this nation, but we do need humility to understand what a privilege that is.
Bad Bunny may not need a passport, but he needs perspective. He needs humility. He needs clarity about what America truly represents for Puerto Ricans and for every dreamer who still believes this country offers the chance to rise.
America is not flawless. Yet it remains the most transformative and opportunity-rich nation in human history. My prayer is that when Bad Bunny steps onto that stage, gratitude will replace defiance — gratitude for a nation that gave a kid from Puerto Rico the chance to conquer the world.
