Eric Trump on Monday offered a first look at plans for the Trump Presidential Library, a massive structure that he said would be built on the waterfront in Miami, Florida.

The design, according to the video posted by Trump, was attributed to the renowned Miami-based architecture firm Bermello Ajamil, a Woolpert Company. The single tower stretched tall above the Miami skyline and included a base large enough to accommodate a presidential jet on the main floor.
The name &#8220;TRUMP,&#8221; in all caps, was emblazoned on the side of the tower, and interior mock-ups showed an auditorium with a large golden statue of President Donald Trump, along with replicas of the Oval Office, the still-in-progress ballroom, and other parts of the White House.
&#8220;Miami deserves this building. It will be a masterpiece, the likes of which have never been seen in Florida or really anywhere,” Eric Trump told The Miami Herald. Trump has been involved in the library&#8217;s design and planning from the start and has been instrumental in lobbying the state of Florida to provide the land for his father&#8217;s foundation.
Miami Dade County Commissioner Roberto Gonzalez was also a fan of the project, responding to the president&#8217;s son in an X <a href="https://x.com/RobJGonzalezFL/status/2038780540896067804">post</a>, congratulating him on a job well done so far.

The University of Miami Health System appears to have scrubbed references to radical gender and racial ideologies from its website. That doesn’t mean it’s abandoned those principles.
UHealth recently deleted webpages highlighting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and so-called gender-affirming services, information obtained by Consumers&#8217; Research and shared with The Daily Wire shows. The move comes as the Trump administration ramps up pressure on hospitals and other institutions to scale back transgender medicine and abandon DEI initiatives.
But UHealth’s facelift may just be for show. The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine operation — which once <a href="https://news.med.miami.edu/miller-school-recognized-for-diversity-and-inclusion/">boasted</a> that “diversity is not just a goal, it’s essential to the business of health care” — still maintains racial quotas for both staff and medical school applicants. And while UHealth <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230320180241/https://umiamihealth.org/treatments-and-services/lgbtq-services">deleted</a> a public page outlining its transgender procedures, it still offers everything from hormone treatments to surgeries, sometimes to children as young as 12.
Advocates say nonprofit hospital systems receiving taxpayer support have a responsibility to focus on patient care rather than political activism. 
“Nonprofit hospitals receive massive taxpayer subsidies to care for the sick and keep us healthy, not to bankroll activist agendas,&#8221; Consumers&#8217; Research executive director Will Hild said. His organization is publishing evidence of UHealth&#8217;s ideological priorities as part of its <a id="m_380556438124433728m_-3045006689688549635OWAf2c5d792-40c8-ff0b-b285-5674e35360ac" href="https://consumersresearch.org/badmedicine/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://consumersresearch.org/badmedicine/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1773363826991000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3HkgqO57wRtJMEqYn7H99Q">Bad Medicine</a> initiative, which &#8220;targets nonprofit health systems across the country who are prioritizing political ideology over patients.&#8221;
Should UHealth continue to do so, it could put it in the government&#8217;s crosshairs as the Trump administration ramps up scrutiny of hospitals accused of prioritizing ideological programs over patient care.
“President Trump took swift action to protect children from harmful transgender ideology through executive orders to halt transgender interventions for kids,” O. H. Skinner, executive director of the Alliance for Consumers, told The Daily Wire. &#8220;The message is clear: taxpayer money should not subsidize life-ruining gender procedures on children.&#8221;
UHealth has scrubbed <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230320180241/https://umiamihealth.org/treatments-and-services/lgbtq-services">sites</a> detailing the wide range of transgender procedures it offers — everything from specialized hormone treatments to referrals for surgical procedures and voice treatments.
<a href="https://umiamihealth.org/en/treatments-and-services/infectious-diseases/uhealth-rapid-access-wellness-clinic">All of those services</a> are still very much available at UHealth — to almost all patients.
The UHealth Rapid Wellness Clinic <a href="https://umiamihealth.org/treatments-and-services/infectious-diseases/uhealth-rapid-access-wellness-clinic#:~:text=The%20RAPID%20Program%20offers%20services%20such%20as:,care%20at%20community%20sites%20in%20Miami%2DDade%20County">continues to offer</a> transgender services, offering “personalized, holistic care for transgender people to enhance mental and physical well-being,” including prescriptions for “feminizing and masculinizing hormones” and referrals for surgical consultations.
According to <a href="https://doctors.umiamihealth.org/provider/lydia-ann-fein/1094992?_gl=1*1ifi9es*_ga*MTQ0MTcxMTA0MC4xNzcxNDQ3OTAw*_ga_JCW15RZR91*czE3NzMyMzQ0MzckbzEyJGcwJHQxNzczMjM0NDM4JGo1OSRsMCRoMA">program materials</a>, those services are available to patients as young as 12.
Dr. Lydia Ann Fein, who leads the Gender Affirmation Program at the University of Miami Health System, said in an interview with the <a href="https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/gay-south-florida/article244097007.html">Miami Herald</a> that a significant portion of the clinic’s patients are teenagers.
“Thirty percent of my transgender patients are teens,” Fein said. “I’m seeing a shift to younger patients.”
Fein attributed the increase in younger patients to greater visibility of transgender identities. “In general, with transgender and gender nonconforming people being more visible in society and the media, younger people are identifying this within themselves and parents are more aware,” she said. “It’s more accepted.”
The UHealth LGBTQ Services clinic, which houses the Gender Affirmation Program, sees hundreds of patients annually. Fein said the program coordinates with specialists across multiple fields, including plastic surgery, urology, and more.
“We also have an ear, nose, and throat surgeon and a speech pathologist for voice training and modification surgery,” she said.
Fein also emphasized the importance of psychological support for patients seeking gender-related treatments. “For those patients, it’s extremely important that they are connected to mental health care in some fashion and community organizations that offer social support,” she said.
The medical school also <a href="https://news.med.miami.edu/miller-school-and-miami-dade-college-partner-on-pathways-program/">partners</a> with Miami Dade College to increase the number of minority medical school applicants through mentoring programs, MCAT preparation, and financial stipends for participants.
“Diversity, or the lack of it, among medical professionals affects care delivery, clinical decision-making, and participation in clinical trials,” the University of Miami says. “Most importantly, it impacts patient outcomes.”
Archived materials show the medical school also hosted a <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20210222190245/https:/med.miami.edu/en/offices/diversity/about-us/task-force">“Task Force on Racial Justice,”</a> which recommended increasing recruitment of Black faculty members and encouraging more students from underrepresented minority groups to pursue training at the school. The school also launched a <a href="https://med.miami.edu/about-us/culture-change#:~:text=The%20Miller%20School%20of%20Medicine%20has%20a,*%20**History**%20*%20**Offices**%20*%20**Community%20Outreach**">“Culture Change”</a> initiative featuring faculty committees focused on improving institutional culture to create an “affirming and energizing environment.&#8221;
The University of Miami’s medical system has also embraced environmental activism through the university’s GreenU sustainability program. The initiative promotes policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, encouraging<a href="https://greenu.miami.edu/initiatives/food-and-well-being/index.html"> reduced meat consumption</a>, and shifting school food systems toward what administrators describe as more <a href="https://greenu.miami.edu/initiatives/food-and-well-being/sustainable-food/index.html">“sustainable”</a> options.
The health system has also faced questions about oversight and leadership. In one case, a UHealth physician was fired after posting graphic photographs of transgender patients’ genitalia on a personal Instagram account. More recently, the Department of Health and Human Services <a href="https://www.hhs.gov/press-room/hhs-decertifies-miami-organ-agency-reforms-transplant-system.html">announced</a> plans to decertify and shut down a University of Miami organ procurement organization after investigators cited “years of unsafe practices, poor training, chronic underperformance, understaffing, and paperwork errors.&#8221;
The University of Miami did not respond to a request for comment.

A nation once dismissed as ungovernable is suddenly at the center of regional attention, reminding the world that bold ideas grounded in free markets can reshape national destiny. The discussions will also test whether Argentina can sustain reform momentum amid political resistance at home.

YPF’s nationalization back in 2012 was another failed experiment of Argentina’s Peronist past – one that resulted in major fallout for American investors. If the government honors that judgment and turns this costly dispute into a milestone of legal redemption, it would signal that the old habits of expropriation are truly over.
Refusing to honor that decision would risk undermining the very revival Milei seeks. It would chill investment just as confidence begins to return and cast doubt on Argentina’s reliability as a trading and financial partner. Upholding accountability, by contrast, would not only calm financial markets but also energize entrepreneurs at home, eager to build without fear of arbitrary intervention. It would confirm to foreign investors that Argentina’s new age of reform is anchored in institutions, not personalities.
The United States has already shown its faith in Argentina’s reform course. President Trump‘s $20 billion swap line was more than financial aid — it was a vote of confidence that free people and free markets can succeed where socialism failed. That confidence, however, will last only if Argentina maintains predictable legal and economic rules.
Milei has shown rare determination by slashing spending, ending price controls, and dismantling the bureaucracies that choked private enterprise. But lasting success depends on consistency: clear rules, sound money (hence the need for dollarization), and dependable institutions. Property rights are the oxygen of capitalism. When governments confiscate, investment dies. When they keep their word, growth flourishes.
The temptation to cut corners in the name of short-term relief always lurks nearby. But the only sustainable path forward is steady adherence to economic liberty and institutional reliability. The meetings in Miami and New York offer the ideal stage for Milei to affirm those values — and to show that Argentina’s new direction is not a passing wave but a permanent shift in national character.
If Argentina stays this course — resolving old debts, deepening ties with the United States, and proving that freedom and responsibility are inseparable — it can once again become a beacon of prosperity in the Western Hemisphere. The world is watching, and this time Argentina has a real chance to prove that freedom works.

When Trump takes the stands with Secretary of State Marco Rubio at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Monday night, it will only be the latest instance of this administration embracing sports. This season alone, Trump has attended the Army-Navy game, an NFL matchup between the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders, and, with most of his cabinet in tow, a UFC fight last June.

Before the game in Miami, Trump took time to reflect on the history of the sport.
&#8220;For more than 150 years, college football has been a cherished fixture in American culture,&#8221; Trump wrote. &#8220;Every fall and winter, massive crowds flock to stadiums in college towns all across our Nation to witness the epic display of loyalty, rivalry, tradition, and regional identity erupting throughout the stands and on the field below.&#8221;
&#8220;From the very first collegiate matchup in 1869, our country’s love of this storied Saturday ritual has been passed down from one generation to the next and endured as an iconic American institution,&#8221; the president added.
Both Trump and Rubio are connected to the Canes. Trump&#8217;s granddaughter, Kai Trump, will be playing golf at the University of Miami next year. Rubio has a law degree from The U, and was raised near the campus, just like Indiana&#8217;s quarterback, Fernando Mendoza. Like Rubio, Mendoza is a proud Cuban-American who credits his drive to their roots.
While Trump did not say which team he was backing in his National Championship message, he emphasized what college football means to Americans.

Indiana is the No. 1 seed and heavy favorite in the title game. Miami comes in as the No. 10 seed in the 12-team playoff, with the Hurricanes eager for a victory on their home turf. Kickoff is at 7:30 eastern.
The president has inserted himself into several sports narratives by praising on-field talent, endorsing players in the NFL Draft, and vouching for coaches. Most recently, Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hire-john-harbaugh-fast-trump-weighs-in-after-ravens-fire-longtime-nfl-coach">went to bat</a> for recently fired NFL coach John Harbaugh. The longtime Baltimore coach just landed a job with the New York Giants after Trump suggested they hire Harbaugh.
“The New York Football Giants should hire, without question, John Harbaugh,&#8221; Trump wrote on Truth Social. &#8220;And John, a great guy, should TAKE THE JOB!!!”
Then there&#8217;s the history-making part of Trump&#8217;s fandom: last NFL season, he became the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl. Right after taking office for the second time, he was in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.

President Donald Trump on Monday sued the BBC over a documentary in which it edited the president’s January 6, 2021, Washington address to create a “false, defamatory, deceptive, disparaging, inflammatory, and malicious depiction” of the president.
Trump sued the British broadcaster for a total of $10 billion for both defamation and a violation of Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act over the documentary about the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. The lawsuit was filed in a federal court in Miami.
“This instance of doctoring–in the form of distortion of meaning and splicing of entirely unrelated word sequences–is part of the BBC’s longstanding pattern of manipulating President Trump’s speeches and presenting content in a misleading manner in order to defame him, including fabricating calls for violence that he never made,” the lawsuit states.
“The BBC, faced with overwhelming and justifiable outrage on both sides of the Atlantic, has publicly admitted its staggering breach of journalistic ethics, and apologized, but has made no showing of actual remorse for its wrongdoing nor meaningful institutional changes to prevent future journalistic abuses,” it continues.
The documentary spliced together two small parts of a lengthy speech to “make it appear that President Trump explicitly called for violent action and rioting,” the lawsuit states. The two clips are separated by 55 minutes in Trump&#8217;s original speech, and the documentary also left out Trump’s explicit calls for supporters to protest “peacefully and patriotically.”

Last month, two BBC executives <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bbc-execs-resign-after-j6-doc-twists-trump-footage-out-of-context">announced</a> their resignations after controversy erupted around the broadcaster over an internal memo that said the documentary characterized the president of the United States dishonestly. The memo was written by a former outside editorial standards adviser, Michael Prescott, and leaked to the media, throwing the BBC into turmoil as members and allies of the Trump administration blasted the U.K.-backed media outlet with accusations of bias.
The BBC later apologized to Trump for his portrayal in the documentary.
“[W]e accept that our edit unintentionally created the impression that we were showing a single continuous section of the speech, rather than excerpts from different points in the speech, and that this gave the mistaken impression that President Trump had made a direct call for violent action,” the statement said.
“The BBC would like to apologize to President Trump for that error of judgement. This programme was not scheduled to be re-broadcast and will not be broadcast again in this form on any BBC platforms,” it added.

A Democrat won the Miami mayoral race for the first time in nearly 30 years, beating the Trump-backed Republican by almost 20 points. 
Democrat Eileen Higgins defeated GOP challenger Emilio Gonzalez in a run-off election on Tuesday, <a href="https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/miami-mayoral-runoff-election-see-the-complete-results-here/3731997/">winning</a> 59% of the vote to her opponent’s 41%. Higgins, a 61-year-old former county commissioner, is the first Democrat to win the mayoral race in Miami since 1997 and the first woman ever elected to lead the city.
“Together, we turned the page on years of chaos and corruption and opened the door to a new era for our city — one defined by ethical, accountable leadership that delivers real results for the people,” she said.
Higgins said her victory was partly due to Miami residents being “done” with &#8220;dehumanizing and cruel” rhetoric against migrants. Throughout the campaign, she has been critical of Trump&#8217;s crackdown on illegal immigration. 
While officially a non-partisan election, Gonzalez was <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115562700432868071">endorsed</a> by President Donald Trump and Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis, while former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Rahm Emanuel, a former Obama chief of staff, campaigned in support of Higgins. 
Higgins&#8217; campaign page said that as mayor, she would address the “permitting process to get our government moving for small businesses and homeowners, protect tax dollars, and make City Hall work for us by building safer neighborhoods and a more affordable future.”
Gonzalez congratulated Higgins on Tuesday evening and wished her the best as she leads the city.

“Grateful beyond words for the thousands of Miami residents who stood with us for integrity, safety, and putting families first,” Gonzalez <a href="https://x.com/Emilioformiami/status/1998580897084252352">said</a>. “While this election didn’t end the way we hoped, our fight for accountability, transparency, and a city that works for residents, not insiders, continues. May God bless Miami and our future.”
Democrats said that Higgins’ victory was a positive sign for their party. 
“Mayor-elect Eileen Higgins’ win is a testament to what we can accomplish when we organize and compete everywhere,” Democrat National Committee Chair Ken Martin <a href="https://x.com/kenmartin73/status/1998549377405616146">said</a> on X. “Democrats have now flipped a seat that was in Republicans’ hands for nearly 30 years.”
Democrats have 8,000 more registered voters in the city, which backed former Vice President Kamala Harris over Trump during the 2024 presidential election. As a whole, the state of Florida has shifted to the right in recent years, with Trump defeating Harris by more than 13 points. 
The city’s current mayor, Republican Francis Suarez, was term-limited.

MIAMI, Florida — President Donald Trump warned Americans that they face two options after Tuesday night&#8217;s election losses to Democrats: communism or common sense.
The president spoke on Wednesday at the America Business Forum, where he accused Democrats of purposefully blocking American progress. He touted the results of his administration thus far: lifting 600,000 Americans off food stamps, employing 1.9 million more American-born workers than the day he took office, more American workers than any time in the history of the United States, wages for factory workers up by $1,300, construction worker wages up to $2,200 dollars, Thanksgiving meals 25% lower than a year ago, egg prices down 85 percent, energy prices down, interest rates down, and more.
&#8220;Yet as we speak,&#8221; he warned, &#8220;the Democrats in Congress are trying to put all of this progress at risk — and drag us back to the Biden policies of soaring prices, crushing energy costs, massive spending, open borders, and rampant inflation.&#8221;
&#8220;The Radical Left Democrats are causing millions of Americans who depend on food stamps to go without benefits, they’re forcing federal workers to go without paychecks, and they are stranding thousands of travelers at the airports &#8230; All because they want to return to the failed Biden policies, and also Obama policies,&#8221; he warned the crowd, joking about former President Barack Obama&#8217;s criticisms of him.

&#8220;If you want to see what Congressional Democrats wish to do to America, just look at the results of yesterday’s election in New York — where their party installed a communist as the mayor of the largest city in the nation,&#8221; Trump warned, and in response, the audience booed aggressively.
The president joked that Miami, where he was speaking, would soon become the refuge of those fleeing New York City and Mamdani&#8217;s communist policies.

A jury in Miami found that Tesla was partly to blame for a fatal 2019 crash that killed a young woman and severely wounded her boyfriend. It was the first federal trial involving a fatal crash linked to Tesla&#8217;s Autopilot mode.
The verdict, which came down on Friday, found that Tesla and its self-driving technology were 33% responsible for the crash, with the remainder of the blame falling on the driver, George Brian McGee, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/01/business/tesla-autopilot-federal-trial-verdict.html">reported</a>. Tesla could be forced to pay as much as $243 million to the parents of the deceased woman, Naibel Benavides, and her boyfriend, Dillon Angulo — but Elon Musk&#8217;s electric vehicle company said it would appeal the jury&#8217;s verdict.
“Today’s verdict is wrong and only works to set back automotive safety and jeopardize Tesla’s and the entire industry’s efforts to develop and implement lifesaving technology,” Tesla said.
“Florida law is explicit that punitive damages have been all but eliminated in product liability cases such as this one,” the company added. “We are confident that the punitive damage award at a minimum, and likely this whole verdict, will be overturned by the appellate court.”
The crash at the center of the case took place on April 25, 2019, when McGee was driving his Tesla Model S near Key Largo, Florida, and blew through an intersection at 62 mph, crashing into a black SUV that was legally parked on the side of a dirt road near the intersection. The Tesla was in Autopilot mode at the time of the crash, but McGee had his foot on the accelerator, which overrides Autopilot mode. Before he reached the intersection, McGee dropped his phone and bent down to look for it, and told police that he did not see the intersection or the stop sign.
McGee said on the stand that he thought Tesla&#8217;s Autopilot mode would protect him from a crash.
Lawyers representing the plaintiffs in the federal trial argued that Musk and Tesla have exaggerated Tesla&#8217;s Autopilot technology.
“The Tesla car is a good car,” attorney Brett Schreiber said, according to the <a href="https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/florida-keys/article311553847.html">Miami Herald</a>. “It’s the Autopilot that will kill you.”
During the trial, Schreiber also quoted Musk, who has said that Tesla&#8217;s autopilot system is safer than a human driver.
Tesla&#8217;s lawyers pinned the entire blame for the crash on McGee, who was on his phone for 13 minutes before the crash, and was driving at varying speeds. Joel Smith, a lawyer representing Tesla, said McGee was &#8220;reckless&#8221; and &#8220;aggressive,&#8221; adding that “no car could have prevented” the crash. Smith also pointed to Tesla&#8217;s owner&#8217;s manual, which states, “It is the drivers’ responsibility to stay alert, drive safely and be in control of the vehicle.”
The jury&#8217;s verdict comes as Tesla looks to roll out self-driving robotaxis on American streets. The first robotaxis <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tesla-shares-soar-after-first-robotaxis-hit-the-road">hit the road</a> for testing in Austin, Texas, in June.

Florida high school students were drilled for being straight, asked to consider being gay, and told that straight people are to blame for overpopulation, according to course materials obtained by The Daily Wire.
During a course for high school children in Miami-Dade County, students were assigned to complete a sexuality-focused questionnaire that asked a series of bizarre questions such as: &#8220;What do you think caused your heterosexuality?&#8221;; &#8220;Is it possible that being straight is just a phase you may grow out of?”; and, “Considering the menace of hunger and overpopulation, could the human race survive if everyone were straight like yourself?”
Parents were shocked to learn that a professor made their children answer questions like this as part of a Miami-Dade College course being offered to high schoolers. The<a href="https://www.mdc.edu/asa/documents/competencies/pdf/SLS1510%20Preparing%20for%20Student%20Success.pdf"> course</a>, called &#8220;Preparing for Student Success,&#8221; was designed for students to develop academic goals and come up with strategies to succeed in college and offered in Miami-Dade County, an area that has<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/floridas-miami-dade-county-flips-red-in-voter-registration-for-first-time-in-history"> turned red</a> in recent years. 
“It&#8217;s not normal. I mean imagine if a person, anyone, goes close to your son and asks him these questions, I’d call the police,” a concerned mother whose son was enrolled in the class told The Daily Wire. “It&#8217;s perversion. Why are you talking about their sexuality to 15-year-old boys or girls? It&#8217;s absolutely sick. It’s sick.”
Other questions posed to the children included, &#8220;To whom have you disclosed your straight tendencies?&#8221; and &#8220;Why do you insist on showing off your heterosexuality?&#8221; The questionnaire ended by asking students what their reaction to it was and &#8220;about the assumptions you hold about what others are like.&#8221;
The questions come from the textbook &#8220;POWER: Strategies for Success in College and Life&#8221; by Robert Feldman, a senior research associate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The textbook was printed by McGraw Hill, one of the largest academic publishers in the United States whose products are used in 13,000 K-12 school districts across the country.
After being contacted by The Daily Wire, Miami-Dade College said that it had reviewed the assignment and determined that it would no longer be used.
&#8220;Miami-Dade College is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and academically sound learning environment for all students,&#8221; the college told The Daily Wire. &#8220;In response to concerns raised about a classroom assignment, we have conducted a thorough review of the assignment, and it will no longer be used. We expect all those who teach to uphold these standards and will ensure any necessary adjustments are made.&#8221;
The other questions on the assignment were as follows: &#8220;when and how did you decide you were straight?&#8221;; &#8220;is it possible that your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same sex?&#8221;; &#8220;There seem to be many unhappy heterosexuals. Techniques have been developed that might enable you to change your sexual orientation. Have you considered changing?&#8221; and, &#8220;why do straights place so much emphasis on sex?&#8221;
According to the textbook, the questionnaire was adopted from the work of Martin Rochlin, a gay rights activist and founding member of the Gay and Lesbian Center of Los Angeles who developed the &#8220;Heterosexual Questionnaire&#8221; in 1972.

The concerned mother whose son was forced to take the quiz told The Daily Wire that the questionnaire was included in the textbook as means of indoctrination.
She noted that dual enrollment classes are typically recommended for students looking to receive Florida&#8217;s Bright Futures Scholarship, a lottery funded-scholarship for top performing high school academic achievers. She said that teachers should avoid discussing issues of sexuality altogether.
&#8220;You don&#8217;t talk about these things, especially with kids. If you are a math teacher, you teach math,” she said. “These types of courses shouldn&#8217;t exist.”
She also voiced concerns about another questionnaire featured in the textbook on its chapter on diversity. One activity encourages students to determine the diversity of their campus by getting statistics of how many racial minorities attend their school, while another encourages them to &#8220;check your stereotype quotient.&#8221; That includes questions like, &#8220;If you found out that a star professional football player is gay, would you be surprised?&#8221;
The mother told The Daily Wire that she was contacted by the office of the president of Miami-Dade College and assured her that concerns would be addressed. They said the school told them that the quiz would no longer be administered and indicated that they would focus their teaching on what was academically appropriate.
Some parents believe that the content in the quiz may violate<a href="http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&amp;URL=1000-1099/1006/Sections/1006.31.html"> Florida law</a> requiring content to be &#8220;accurate, objective, balanced&#8221; and &#8220;noninflammatory.&#8221;
In its statement to The Daily Wire, Miami-Dade College said that it would continue to provide education that follows state requirements.
&#8220;We are committed to creating a learning environment where students are successful and have the support to achieve academic excellence through fair and unbiased grading practices. We appreciate the engagement of our students, families, and school partners as we remain focused on delivering high-quality education that adheres to state guidelines,&#8221; the college said
The controversy over the curriculum comes as Miami-Dade County has shifted significantly to the right electorally in recent years. President Donald Trump won the county by over 10 points in 2024. The number of registered Republicans in the county also<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/floridas-miami-dade-county-flips-red-in-voter-registration-for-first-time-in-history"> just eclipsed</a> Democrats for the first time in history.

For the first time in history, there are more registered Republicans than Democrats in Florida&#8217;s Miami-Dade County.
Florida’s Voice <a href="https://flvoicenews.com/historic-first-miami-dade-county-flips-red-as-democrats-sink-further/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported </a>464,370 Republicans and 440,790 Democrats are now registered to vote in Miami-Dade County, one of Florida&#8217;s blue strongholds, as of Monday morning. That means a whopping 59 of 67 counties in Florida are now red.
“Miami-Dade County has completed its off-year voter roll maintenance, and this morning, it shed 172,747 voters from its active rolls,” Michael Pruser, Decision Desk HQ’s director of data science, stated. “The change netted Republicans more than 38,000 voters compared to Democrats, and the county has now flipped to Republican by registration. Today marks Republicans’ first-ever lead in voter registration in Miami-Dade.”
Florida’s remarkable change from an evenly divided state to a red one is largely attributed to the success of Florida&#8217;s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis. In 2021, a <a href="https://thecapitolist.com/desantis-posts-strong-approval-in-latest-florida-chamber-poll/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">poll</a> conducted by the Florida Chamber of Commerce showed that the 14.5 million registered voters in Florida were almost exactly split between Republicans and Democrats. According to the <a href="https://dos.myflorida.com/elections/data-statistics/voter-registration-statistics/voter-registration-reportsxlsx/voter-registration-by-county-and-party/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Florida Department of State</a>, there were 5,290,465 registered Democrats, 5,185,744 Republicans, 3,832,070 independents with no party affiliation (NPAs), and 247,108 voters affiliated with another party.
By November 2021, fully one year before the reelection of DeSantis, who had narrowly won the governorship in 2018, <a href="https://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2021/11/04/no-million-dollar-checks-democratic-governors-may-sit-out-florida-1392319">POLITICO</a> reported that the Democratic Governors Association would not give any significant financial aid to any Democrat opposing DeSantis’ re-election in 2022, choosing to focus on races it thought Democrats could win. On October 31, POLITICO <a href="https://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2021/10/31/florida-democrats-anxious-as-desantis-seems-unbeatable-1392147" target="_blank" rel="noopener">admitted</a>, “Gov. Ron DeSantis appears unstoppable.” Indeed, he was, winning virtually 60% of the vote in November 2022 in a landslide.
President Donald Trump, who won the state narrowly in both 2016 and 2020, ran away with it in 2024, ultimately winning by double-digits. The Associated Press said it was comfortable calling the race when it saw that Trump was on track to win Miami-Dade County. Trump built on the success of DeSantis, who two years earlier became for first Republican to carry Miami-Dade in a statewide contest in two decades.
Last week, the Florida Department of State <a href="https://dos.fl.gov/elections/data-statistics/voter-registration-statistics/voter-registration-reports/voter-registration-by-party-affiliation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that there were now 5,578,457 registered GOP voters in Florida and 4,329,271 registered Democrats. That means that the GOP went from 50.5% of registered voters in 2021 to 56.3%, a massive 5.8 point shift in less than four years, with virtually all the time being during a Democratic presidential tenure.
In his tenure as governor, DeSantis has governed as a staunch conservative; he took massive heat for keeping the state open during the COVID pandemic, signed legislation requiring government employers and contractors to use E-Verify, terminated cooperation with a program to relocate illegal immigrants, advocated for more school choice, banned the teaching of Critical Race Theory in schools, banned China from buying land in the state, handled disasters such as Hurricanes Ian and Nicole with aplomb, for which he was widely praised, banned men from competing in women’s sports as far back as 2021, and introduced a $5,000 signing bonus for those wanting to be Florida police officers.

President Donald Trump will speak at a Saudi Arabia-backed summit on Wednesday in Miami, just a day after Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Russian officials in Riyadh.
The FII Priority Summit is hosted by Saudi Arabia&#8217;s sovereign wealth fund and attended by global tech executives and financiers, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-poised-attend-saudi-backed-conference-miami-february-sources-say-2025-02-12/">Reuters first reported</a>. The president will deliver remarks at the summit, several people with knowledge of the event told Reuters. FII describes itself as a &#8220;global non-profit foundation&#8221; with interests in AI and robotics, education, healthcare, and more.
According to White House scheduling, Trump will participate in the summit at 5:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday and will return to the White House Wednesday evening.
It&#8217;s not immediately clear what the president will speak on, but the event comes only a day after Rubio <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-team-meets-russian-officials-in-saudi-arabia-to-discuss-ending-ukraine-war">met</a> with Russian officials in the Saudi capital to discuss an end to the war in Ukraine, as well as foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom, as well as the European Union&#8217;s High Representative for Foreign Affairs. Trump&#8217;s appearance, like Rubio&#8217;s meeting, could signal the Trump administration&#8217;s interest in forging a strategic partnership with the Saudis.
Trump&#8217;s Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff will also participate in a session moderated by Jared Kushner, Trump&#8217;s son-in-law and the CEO of Affinity Partners, a private equity firm.
That session will deal with the question: &#8220;Is a new era of US-Middle East economic cooperation dawning?&#8221;

Trump&#8217;s remarks also come as he seriously considers plans to relocate around two million Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt, Jordan, and other Arab countries, allowing for the United States to “take over&#8221; the region and to create an economy that would “supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area.”
Trump has also said that America would work “with great development teams from all over the World” to rebuild the territory that has been controlled by Hamas terrorists, adding that no American troops would be needed on the ground.
“With the United States being in control of that piece of land … you can have stability in the Middle East for the first time,” Trump <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx2jz020ny0o" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> reporters at the White House earlier this month. “And the Palestinians, or the people that live now in Gaza, will be living beautifully in another location.”
