Comedian Kathy Griffin lashed out at CNN anchor Anderson Cooper for failing to defend her to the network, after she posed for a photo with a fake Donald Trump severed head.
In an interview with the Daily Beast, where Griffin also outlined her feud with celebrity lawyer Lisa Bloom, Griffin called Cooper a “spineless heiress,” a quip she says she got “from my gays.”
Cooper is a member of the Vanderbilt family, the son of fashion designer Gloria Vanderbilt, hence the “heiress” part. The “spineless” part probably refers to Cooper’s comments about Griffin’s “joke” video, which ultimately cost her her New Year’s Eve co-hosting gig — a job she and Cooper had shared since the mid-2000s.
Cooper slammed Griffin for her beheading gag. “For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate,” the anchor wrote on Twitter.
CNN fired Griffin almost immediately after.
Griffin has been on a tear as of late, following a few months of silence, attacking Bloom over her “astronomical” legal fees and Bloom’s “attention-whoring.” In an extended interview, Griffin claims Bloom essentially bilked her out of thousands of dollars and “exacerbated” her situation with Donald Trump.
Bloom fired back Tuesday, saying her version of events differs dramatically from Griffin’s.
