Leave it to Judge Judy to explain exactly what needs to take place in the he-said, she-said case of Supreme Court nominee and an accuser who claims he tried to sexually abuse her 35 years ago.
The popular TV judge, who’s handled hundreds of cases both on her show and as a real-life judge in a family law court, thinks everyone needs to take a breath and wait to hear from the players, Judge Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford.
Already, Republicans are saying they don’t believe Ford — who claims Kavanaugh tried to force himself on her when she was 15 and he 17 — while Democrats declare they believe Ford, even though there’s been no testimony under oath about the allegations.
TMZ caught up with the famous judge in Beverly Hills for a street interview, which you can watch here.
The highlights:
“One hopes that people wait and don’t rush to judgment and listen to both of an argument before they make a decision. That’s what’s supposed to happen in a fair judicial process,” said Judge Judy Sheindlin.
“There’s always the hope that reasonable people will listen to both sides of an argument before they make a judgment. That’s what people are supposed to do. They’re not supposed to rush to judgment, they’re supposed to listen to the evidence and then make a judgment. And if that doesn’t happen, then the end result is not fair. Right?”
Then she summed it all up: “If you don’t listen to both sides of an argument, very often you don’t get the right results.”
Such simple common sense. No wonder Judge Judy makes $47 million a year.
