House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) is investigating special prosecutor Nathan Wade, the lawyer who has been working on the Georgia RICO case against former President Donald Trump, over his ties to the White House and the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

Jordan is asking for documentation of any communications between Wade and the Fulton County DA’s office, the Department of Justice, and the White House. Jordan said he believed that Wade has information on “coordination of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office (FCDAO) with other politically motivated investigations and prosecutions and the potential misuse of federal funds.” Wade has been accused of having an “improper” relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

“The Committee has serious concerns about the degree of improper coordination among politicized actors—including the Biden White House — to investigate and prosecute President Biden’s chief political opponent,” Jordan wrote in a letter to Wade on Friday.

The letter cited a recent court filing from one of Trump’s co-defendants who said that Wade had been paid over $650,000 from Fulton County at the same time as he was going on luxurious vacations with Willis, with whom he is in an alleged romantic relationship.

According to Jordan, Wade has also met with Democrats several times in Washington, D.C., including meetings with the Democrat-run January 6 Committee and at the White House prior the launch of the Georgia election case against Trump.

Jordan also noted that there was a possibility that funds from Biden’s DOJ were being used to prosecute Trump in Georgia.

“The FCDAO reportedly compensated you using a concoction of comingled funds, including monies confiscated or seized by the FCDAO and monies directed from Fulton County’s ‘general’ fund. The Committee has information that the FCDAO received approximately $14.6 million in grant funds from the Department of Justice between 2020 and 2023  and, given the enormous legal fees you have billed to the FCDAO, there are open questions about whether federal funds were used by the FCDAO to finance your prosecution,” Jordan wrote.

The Judiciary Committee is asking for all relevant documents, including those from meetings with the White House, by January 26.

Willis was subpoenaed this week in the divorce case of between Wade and his wife Joycelyn Wade. The Wades initially filed for divorce in November 2021.

The subpoena was reportedly delivered by a process server mere hours before former Trump campaign official Michael Roman, who’s a co-defendant in the RICO case, filed a motion alleging misconduct by Willis and Wade, in part for their “improper, clandestine personal relationship during the pendency of this case.”
