Jim Clyburn: Shut Down Primaries, Debates To Protect Biden From Saying Something He ‘Cannot Overcome’
House Majority Whip Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) called for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to cancel the remaining 2020 primaries and debates if Joe Biden performed strongly on Tuesday night in order to protect him from saying something that he “cannot overcome.”
Clyburn told NPR, “I think when the night is over, Joe Biden will be the prohibitive favorite to win the Democratic nomination, and quite frankly, if the night ends the way it has begun, I think it is time for us to shut this primary down, it is time for us to cancel the rest of these debates — because you don’t do anything but get yourself in trouble if you continue in this contest when it’s obvious that the numbers will not shake out for you.”
Clyburn later added that as the process continues to drag on that Biden will get “himself into trouble” and will say something that he “cannot overcome.”
He says prolonging the primary process only makes it more likely that the favorite, Biden in his eyes, "gets himself into trouble" and hurts himself for the general election

Clyburn publicly endorsed Biden a couple of days before the South Carolina primaries, which proved to be a turning point for the Biden campaign after he performed poorly in the previous contests.
“Biden handily won South Carolina, bested chief rival Bernie Sanders on Super Tuesday and bumped rivals Tom Steyer, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Mike Bloomberg and Elizabeth Warren out of the contest in one of the most muscular comebacks in presidential campaign history,” The Associated Press reported. “Political endorsements at times aren’t thought of as carrying significant heft, used by candidates and endorsers alike for a momentary media bounce that quickly fades to another name on a list. But the backing of Clyburn seems to have been the endorsement that brought Biden’s candidacy back from the brink following lackluster performances in other early states. It was an awaited signal for many black voters in South Carolina that Biden would be the candidate to stand up for their interests. He scored a blowout margin of victory of nearly 30 points.”
Clyburn’s remarks come after Biden had a combative interaction with a factory worker earlier in the day that went viral after Biden made nasty and threatening remarks to the man, who called out Biden’s extreme anti-Second Amendment agenda.
“You’re full of sh*t,” Biden responded.
Biden repeatedly put his finger in the man’s face and the man told him that it was “not okay.”
Biden snapped in response, saying, “Don’t tell me that, pal, or I’m going to go out and slap you in the face.”
“You’re working for me, man,” the worker responded.
“I’m not working for you,” Biden responded back. “Don’t be such a horse’s ass.”
Today, Joe Biden yelled in the faces of blue collar Union autoworkers from Michigan.
Biden said:
– “You are full of shit”
– “Shush!”
– “You don’t need an AR-14”
– “Don’t be a horses ass”
– “An AR is a machine gun!”

“Although Biden now presents himself as a moderate, centrist figure, the totality of his political career, overall, suggests that he is a firm leftist,” The Daily Wire reported last year. “Biden has dabbled at times in moderation, including previous support for tough-on-crime legislation and his longstanding stance that he is ‘personally pro-life’ despite his support of legalized abortion. However, he has long been a progressive on legal issues, economic issues, and foreign policy issues, and even preempted President Obama’s ‘evolution’ when, in 2012, he confirmed that he was ‘absolutely comfortable’ with same-sex marriage.”
