Newly unsealed court documents revealed an email written by convicted sexual offender Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein suggesting actress Jennifer Aniston be “killed.”
“Jen Aniston should be killed,” Weinstein wrote in an email dated October 31, 2017, Variety reported Tuesday.
The Hollywood heavyweight was reportedly responding to a press inquiry from the National Enquirer about an allegation that Weinstein had groped Aniston.
According to Aniston, the groping allegation is untrue.
“In October 2017, the National Enquirer reached out for comment from Weinstein’s then-rep Sallie Hofmeister, a crisis management expert he had hired shortly after the reports of sexual harassment and assault broke in the New York Times and New Yorker in October 2017,” Variety explains.
“The National Enquirer claims are false,” Stephen Huvane, a rep for the “Friends” star told Variety on Tuesday. “Jennifer has not been harassed or assaulted by Harvey.”
As noted by The Daily Wire, Weinstein “was found guilty of a first-degree criminal sex act and third-degree rape, but was acquitted on two counts of predatory sexual assault, the most serious charges.”
More than 1,000 pages of documents concerning the criminal case against the disgraced movie producer, which included the email about Aniston, were dumped on Tuesday, a day before the Democratic megadonor is set for sentencing.
According to the BBC, Weinstein could face 29 years behind bars, though his legal team has already appealed for a shorter stint.
“Weinstein’s lawyers have asked Judge James Burke to consider his poor health, age and young children while sentencing him,” the report said, noting that the legal team has asked for the minimum punishment of five years, “citing his ‘accomplishments’ and ‘charitable endeavours’ over the years.”
“He has lost his means to earn a living,” Weinstein’s legal team said in a letter, The Daily Wire noted. “Simply put, his fall from grace has been historic, perhaps unmatched in the age of social media.”
“The grave reality is that Mr. Weinstein may not even outlive that term,” the team added.
Weinstein was known for pledging support for liberal causes, such as abortion giant Planned Parenthood, and donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democratic politicians, including twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Representatives for Weinstein have emphasized the Hollywood figure’s supposed health issues since the start of the trial.
According to a report from Page Six, spokesperson Juda Engelmayer said “miserable” Weinstein took a bad fall at Rikers Island earlier this week. The 67-year-old was transferred to Rikers Island on March 5.
“He’s miserable but trying to be optimistic as best he can,” Engelmayer said. “He has had a lot of time to think about his life and be humbled, but he thinks it’s going to be a long, uphill battle from here.”
“It’s a prison cell,” the spokesman told Page Six. “It has a sink and toilet, all stainless steel and open.”
“He fell on his head and thinks he has a concussion” on Saturday, Engelmayer added. “His head has been pounding since yesterday.”
“Weinstein has a wheelchair but finds it difficult to use, the spokesman said,” the report noted.
