James Woods Notes SCOTUS Leak Violated Court’s Sanctity. That Makes Him Wonder How Far Dems Will Go.

On the heels of someone leaking the draft of the Supreme Court decision which would revoke the infamous Roe v. Wade decision, actor James Woods pointed out that the nefarious nature of the leak and disrespect for the Constitution made him wonder exactly how far such advocates would go.

Woods tweeted sardonically, “When they start violating the sanctity of the Supreme Court, it makes you wonder if they could even fix an election someday.”

It was unclear about whether Woods was referring to past or future elections.

Texas GOP Senator Ted Cruz told reporters on Tuesday, “The fact that this draft was leaked, as someone who spent an entire career litigating before the Supreme Court, I’m utterly horrified. I’ve never seen anything remotely like this.”

“I am certain that all nine justices right now are unsure how the court can continue to proceed, unsure of how the court can be able to decide cases if the vicious partisan politicking that categorizes today’s Democrat Party now becomes how employees of the court operate, that is an incredible threat to our independent judiciary,” he added.

“Until now, a leak of this kind would have been unthinkable,” former New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Peter Verniero told The New York Times. “The protocol of our highest court has been seriously ruptured. The leaking itself reflects another sad step toward casting the court as a political body, which, whatever your preferred jurisprudence, is most unhealthy for the rule of law.”

The draft, marked “opinion of the court” and thus approved by at least five justices, leaked Monday night and was reported by Politico. It was created by Justice Samuel Alito on February 10, prompting questions as to why it was leaked nearly three months later. Other drafts have likely been created since that date.

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts confirmed the authenticity of the draft and also slammed the leak, calling it a betrayal, stating, “To the extent this betrayal of the confidences of the Court was intended to undermine the integrity of our operations, it will not succeed. The work of the Court will not be affected in any way. I have directed the Marshal of the Court to launch an investigation into the source of the leak.”
