The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recovered intelligence during their raid of the Al-Shifa hospital complex in Gaza this week that reportedly provided key information about the hostages Hamas kidnapped during their October 7 attack.
The IDF told BBC that items recovered during the raid included photos and videos of the hostages and hand-written notes.
“We uncovered a lot of computers and other equipment which could really shed light on the current situation, hopefully regarding hostages as well,” said Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus.
Numerous firearms, explosives, vests, and other military combat gear was recovered from the hospital, according to videos that were posted by the IDF.
Conricus said that Hamas had been in that location of the hospital not too long before the IDF raid and that the gear that was recovered was what they were forced to leave behind.
He said that there was “much more” that Israel would still find in the hospital complex, and special forces commandos continued to search the area. “At the end of the day, this is just the tip of the iceberg,” he added.
Hamas terrorists kidnapped more than 240 Israelis during the October 7 attack while they also murdered 1,200 and wounded more than 5,300.
One of the most underreported aspects of the October 7 attack was who all participated, as it was not just Hamas terrorists who carried out the atrocities.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that eyewitnesses they interviewed recalled seeing not just male and female civilians participating in the terrorist attacks, but young children.
The report said that eyewitnesses followed the Hamas terrorists around and laughed and mocked victims that were being massacred by Hamas. One of the eyewitnesses provided photographs of the children who were involved.
“They were like young, young kids,” said Eran Smilansky, a farmer who defended his home and his kibbutz for more than six hours during the attack. “They were going in front of the terrorists, laughing with their friends and looking very calm. I remember thinking, What the f***?”
The report said that more than a dozen eyewitnesses confirmed to the publication that “boys or women from the Gaza Strip” participated by “looting the kibbutz, helping the armed terrorists, and apparently enjoying themselves.”
