Paramount is dramatizing the story of the Branch Davidians religious sect — noteworthy for the 1993 siege in Waco, TX — in a six-part miniseries entitled, “Waco.”
Starring Michael Shannon, Taylor Kitsch, and John Leguizamo, the minseries is scheduled for release in January 2018.

IMDB describes “Waco”: The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) seize religious leader, David Koresh’s Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas in the spring of 1993.
The Waco siege resulted in 82 deaths among Branch Davidians; 4 ATF agents were killed in the raid.
Paramount’s CEO, Jim Gianopulos, acknowledges being a “big Democrat”; via a June interview with The Hollywood Reporter:
THR: You’re a big Democrat. What have you learned from Trump’s election, and has it influenced your job?
GIANOPULOS: try to keep my politics and my work separate. We’re not making movies that I want, we’re making movies that an audience wants. Having said that, I’m really proud of the fact that one of the films we’re about to release next month is the sequel to An Inconvenient Truth. I’ve had the opportunity recently to get to know Vice President Gore, and it has been very gratifying in light of recent developments politically. It’s no secret that I’ve had a long commitment to the Democratic Party. But we’re in the movie business, and we have to be cognizant of social changes and the way people are thinking out there.
Gianopulos joined other Hollywood figures in fundraising for Democrats during a 2013 dinner — costing between $10,000 and $32,400 per person — featuring then-President Barack Obama.
Paramount will also be producing a dramatization of Anders Breivik, a Norwegian political terrorist who murdered 77 people — mostly children attending a socialist summer camp — in Oslo in 2011.
Paramount has not produced any films or TV series focusing on and dramatizing stories of prominent Islamic terrorists or Islamic terrorist Incidents.
