American singer Demi Lovato is completing her metamorphosis with the announcement of a new album and tour, “HOLY F***.”
The 29-year-old singer announced the name of the album, plus tour dates, this week. A teaser video shows a fresh vibe completely different from the pop image Lovato cultivated years ago. The album cover features latex, bondage, and a cross-shaped mattress, Rolling Stone reported.
“I’m pissing people off by living my truth,” she shared in a TikTok post. “And I’m f***ing okay with it.”
Lovato announced a 32-date tour just one day after revealing the album name and lead single “Skin of My Teeth,” which will debut on Friday, June 10, with the rest of the album debuting on August 19. A teaser video clip includes lyrics from the new album that say, “Get your tickets to the freak show, baby/Step right up to watch the freak go crazy.”
“The process of making this album has been the most fulfilling yet, and I’m grateful to my fans and collaborators for being on this journey with me,” Lovato shared in a statement. “Never have I been more sure of myself and my music, and this record speaks that for itself. To my Lovatics who have been rocking out with me since the beginning and those who are just now coming along for the ride, thank you. This record is for you.”
The tour is set to kick off with two state fair appearances in the midwest before heading to Espaço das Américas in São Paulo, Brazil, on August 30.
“I’m so excited to get back on the road after four years without touring, and even longer since I’ve toured in South America,” she said. “We’re working so hard to deliver an incredible show for all my fans and I can’t wait to see them in person to celebrate this new music.”
Earlier this year, Lovato held a “funeral” for her pop sound, indicating she was moving on to a new genre of music.
Lovato has been hyping the release for weeks like when she shared a custom newspaper front page with the headline “Demi Leaves Rehab Again!”
Two other headlines said “Demi Lovato, 29, Seen With Mysterious Substance In The City of Angels” and “Freak Demi Lovato Screams Eat Me To Paparazzi.”
The singer has been changing many things about herself, including coming out as non-binary and changing her pronouns to they/them, before changing them again on Instagram to include she/her again and describing herself as a “Daddy’s girl.”
