Hard-left Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) praised fellow leftist Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) — who may be censured by the House of Representatives — calling her “loving and protective.”
On October 11, Rep. Jack Bergman (R-MI) filed a censure resolution against Tlaib, saying she has a “long history of making anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli remarks.”
Tlaib had released a statement following the murderous October 7 Hamas attack on Israel in which she refused to condemn Hamas. Bergman stated, “While we don’t all have to see eye-to-eye on every issue, I’d hope we can all agree that the terrorists raping women, murdering festivalgoers, and decapitating babies is a crime against all of humanity, and we must be able to call out that kind of unbridled evil in the world.”
“As Hamas terrorists beheaded infants, paraded dead Jewish teenagers through town, and attacked innocent concert goers in the most deadly day for Jews since the Holocaust, Rep. Rashida Tlaib chose to place the blame solely on Israel and the Jewish people,” he added. “There is no moral equivalence between Israel defending itself and Hamas attacking innocent Israeli civilians. Tlaib’s long history of anti-Semitic tropes and blatant anti-Jewish propaganda is both disturbing and evil – and should have no place in the halls of Congress.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) introduced a resolution on Thursday censuring Tlaib, saying, “Members of Congress who denounce the United States while praising terrorist organizations are unfit to hold office.”

Omar tweeted, “We lovingly call @RashidaTlaib Mama Bear, because she is loving and protective. She shows humanity to colleagues who constantly dehumanize her and those who share our faith. She loves the people she represents regardless of who they are. I am my sister’s keeper and I will walk through fire for her. I admire her leadership and conviction. People can harass or try to censure her, but she will never be forced into submission. None of us will.”

Last week, after Omar promoted terrorist propaganda that falsely claimed Israel bombed a hospital, killing 500 people, Fox News correspondent Hillary Vaughn confronted Omar on Capitol Hill, asking: “Congresswoman, you have called for a ceasefire. Are you okay with Hamas terrorists continuing to exist?”
Omar would not answer.
“How can Israel have a ceasefire with terrorists whose entire mission is to wipe out their existence?” Vaughn asked.
Omar was silent.

Omar had tweeted, “Bombing a hospital is among the gravest of war crimes. The IDF reportedly blowing up one of the few places the injured and wounded can seek medical treatment and shelter during a war is horrific. @POTUS needs to push for an immediate ceasefire to end this slaughter.”
U.S. Intelligence later confirmed that it had “satellite and other infrared data showing a launch of a rocket or missile from Palestinian fighter positions within Gaza” that had hit the parking lot of the hospital.
In mid-October, Omar promoted propaganda that falsely portrayed children as having died from Israeli military operations when they had died a decade ago from fighting in Syria.
