Dame Helen Mirren quickly shut down rumors that a last-minute fashion choice was a coded message designed to shade actor Johnny Depp and support his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Mirren, while walking the red carpet ahead of the premiere of Depp’s new film “Jeanne du Barry,” was spotted carrying a folding fan emblazoned with the hashtag #WORTHIT — and some fans thought the fan was a message of support for Heard.

“Helen Mirren hit the #Cannes red carpet for the premiere of #JeanneDuBarry with a message of support for Amber Heard and a subtle f***-you to the film’s star, Johnny Depp – and she used fashion to do it. Bow down to your forever queen of shade,” @tomandlorenzo tweeted.

The logic behind the assumption was the fact that Heard spent years as a brand ambassador for cosmetics giant L’Oreal, and the fan Mirren carried included the brand’s iconic tagline “worth it.”

But when Mirren caught wind of the rumor, she quickly released a statement debunking it.

“No secret message was intended. I am a L’Oréal ambassador, they are a sponsor of the festival, and quite truthfully, I picked up a fan because I was hot,” Mirren explained, adding, “‘Because You’re Worth It’ is the official L’Oréal Paris slogan.”

Mirren, 77, also turned heads when she hit the Cannes red carpet with her hair styled in a striking bluish-purple updo that matched her gown.

The film she attended, “Jeanne du Barry,” was Depp’s first film since he walked away a winner from the defamation trial against Heard — and the actor could be seen tearing up when the film’s premiere ended with a seven-minute standing ovation.

Following the premiere, members of the press asked Depp about what it felt like to make a “comeback” after the trial – and he quickly set the record straight.

“I keep wondering about the word ‘comeback,’ because I didn’t go anywhere. I live about 45 minutes away … I’ve been sitting around. ‘Comeback’ is almost like I’m going to come out and do a tap dance — dance my best and hope you approve,” he said.
