‘I Always Thought That Was Wrong’: Chris Cuomo Admits ABC Banned American Flag Pins After 9/11
News Nation anchor Chris Cuomo admitted during a recent broadcast that his former employer, ABC News, had banned American flag pins in the aftermath of the 9/11 terror attacks in the United States.
Cuomo was responding to complaints from people who he said had told him not to use the word “we” when talking about Americans — and he made it clear that he had no interest in complying with that request.

Chris Cuomo admits that ABC BANNED their reporters from wearing American flag pins after 9/11:
"I wasn't allowed to say this then, but I just don't care now… Back on 9/11, they wouldn't let us – at ABC News – wear a flag pin. I always thought that was wrong. I'm an American." pic.twitter.com/mw1975EePE— Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) October 26, 2023
“It’s interesting, I’ve had people — the first time since 9/11 and the War on Terror — people have been commenting on social media that I shouldn’t say ‘we’ when we talk about America,” Cuomo said. “I wasn’t allowed to say this then, but I just don’t care now. I am an American, and I report as an American. And I think about America’s interests.”

“You know, back on 9/11, they wouldn’t let us — at ABC News — wear a flag pin. I always thought that was wrong,” he continued. “I’m an American, I’m worried about the American hostages, I’m worried about our interests, and that’s one aspect of why I care.”
Cuomo also raised the alarm after watching multiple incidents of openly anti-Semitic, pro-Hamas protesters on college campuses all across the United States in the three weeks since Hamas terrorists attacked Israeli civilians, killing more than 1,300 — many of whom were women and children — and kidnapping hundreds, and injuring thousands more.
“I’ll tell you really the truth, and I don’t like to say this, if these college kids had been mouthing off about ‘we got what we deserved’ the way they’re saying about Israel right now, this would have been a very violent time in this country. And thank God it didn’t happen then and I hope it doesn’t happen,” Cuomo said.
“And if you think the country would have tolerated support for al-Qaeda’s actions, as we’re hearing now, it would have been bedlam. Again, I’ve seen a lot of acts of terror. I’ve seen a lot of brutality, I’ve seen a lot of death. I’ve seen a lot of heads and things chopped off and burned and all the different things that you see in movies. I’ve never seen a group celebrate and enjoy what I saw with my own eyes that I hope you get to see as well.”
