“Wolverine” actor Hugh Jackman said he got in trouble with authorities after bypassing a barrier to get a closer look at the popular Christmas tree displayed at Rockefeller Center.

The 55-year-old actor explained what happened in a video he shared with fans on Instagram. “I highly recommend getting up really early on Christmas morning and taking a walk to see the Rockefeller Christmas tree,” Jackman wrote in the post’s caption. “It’s so beautiful and not crowded at all.”

“I did get in trouble for going beyond the barrier but the security guard was nice and let me go with just a warning,” he added.

Jackman just announced that he’s separating from his wife of 27 years, Deborra-Lee Furness. He called their divorce a “difficult time” shortly after announcing their split in September.

“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” their joint statement said at the time.

“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”

The statement was signed “Deb and Hugh Jackman” and further noted, “This is the sole statement either of us will make.”

The pair has two children: Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18.

Jackman will reprise his role of Wolverine in the “Deadpool 3″ opposite lead actor Ryan Reynolds. The film was in production over the summer before Hollywood actors and writers went on strike. The actor gave a glimpse into his workout regimen preparing for the role.

Jackman shared a video of himself to Instagram in November deadlifting weights during a training session.

“LFG #becomingwolverineagain(again),” Jackman wrote in the video caption. “Deadpool” is the only Marvel movie scheduled for next year as several other projects got pushed back following the strikes and in the wake of several poor performances by superhero films this year.
