Actress Gwyneth Paltrow revealed a surprising use for her Oscars statuette.
In “73 Questions,” a video interview with Vogue posted Monday, the 51-year-old was seen walking through a doorway in her yard that was being propped open with the award. “What a beautiful Academy Award,” interviewer Joe Sabia said as he encountered the surprising situation.
“My doorstop!” Paltrow enthusiastically replied. “It works perfectly,” she added.
Social media fans were either amused or disgusted by the exchange.

“She wants to look cool and pretend that she doesn’t care about it,” another wrote.
“That’s disrespectful,” a third commenter argued.

Paltrow won the Best Actress award for her role in “Shakespeare in Love” (1999). At the time, she beat out fellow nominees Meryl Streep for “One True Thing,” Cate Blanchett for “Elizabeth,” Emily Watson for “Hilary and Jackie,” and Fernanda Montenegro for “Central Station.”
Actress Glenn Close expressed her distaste for that year’s Academy Awards results during a 2020 interview. “I remember the year Gwyneth Paltrow won over that incredible actress who was in ‘Central Station’ and I thought, ‘What?’ It doesn’t make sense,” Close told ABC.
“So I think who wins has a lot of things to do with how things have been, you know, whether it has traction or whatever. Publicity, how much money did they have to put it out in front of everybody’s sight,” the actress said. “I have to be philosophical about it, if I was upset about it.”
Close has been nominated for an Oscar eight times but has never won.
Some of the X replies to the new clip mentioned the “feud” between the two Hollywood A-listers. “Glenn close (sic) could never,” one account posted.
When Andy Cohen asked for Paltrow’s thoughts on what Close said, she claimed to not know about it. “I just heard this from you, Andy! I never heard about this,” she said during an October 2021 episode of “Watch What Happens Live.” The actress said she couldn’t comment on the dis because she didn’t “know enough about it.”
“So I plead the fifth,” Paltrow added.
