U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has been released from the hospital and is expected to return to work in the near future, according to a statement he made on Thursday.

“Thx for ur well wishes & prayers Happy to be home I look fwd to getting back to work,” Grassley wrote on X.

Grassley was hospitalized earlier this week due to an infection, according to his office.

“Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is receiving antibiotic infusions at an area hospital to treat an infection,” his office said on Tuesday. “He is in good spirits and will return to work as soon as possible following doctors’ orders.”

Grassley, 90, was elected to the Senate in 1980 and has been re-elected seven times, including most recently in 2022.

Following the passing last year of then-Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who was just a couple of months older than Grassley, he is now the oldest member of the U.S. Senate.
