GOP Senator Mocks AOC. It Goes Whistling Over Her Head.

On Sunday, Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) mocked the creators of the Green New Deal, among them Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), by likening her and her cohorts ideas to the dreams of fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. Ocasio-Cortez missed the joke, however, in the process displaying once again that she’s not the most sophisticated thinker in the continental United States.

Cornyn tweeted, “‘We were the first to assert that the more complicated the forms assumed by civilization, the more restricted the freedom of the individual must become.’ Benito Mussolini.”

While Cornyn was obviously mocking her and her fellow true-believers who want the government to clamp down on individual rights by blowing up the size of the federal government, Ocasio-Cortez demonstrated her razor-sharp intelligence by responding on Twitter, “In case you missed it, while the GOP is calling paying a living wage ‘socialism,’ a Republican Senator full-on quoted National Fascist Party leader and Hitler ally Benito Mussolini like it’s a Hallmark card.”

Twitter resounded with examples of people scratching their heads at Ocasio-Cortez’s obtuseness. A few examples:

In case Ocasio-Cortez needs some illumination as to what fascism is, considering Cornyn was likening the plans of extremist Democrats to fascism, here’s Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro from his speech at the University of California, Berkeley, in September 2017, as to fascism:

What actually is fascism? It’s a term that gets thrown around a lot by people who have never read a book. Fascism is the phenomenon whereby people believe that they have the capacity to ram their beliefs down your throat at the point of a gun or say the point of a baton or by throwing Molotov cocktails. That’s what fascism truly is. Fascism is more of a tactic than it is an ideology. It’s sort of vague in terms of ideology; there are people on the Left who are fascist, people like Stalin, and then you’ve had people who are on the European Right, like Hitler, who was fascist, who was actually closer to the traditional American Left than he would be to the traditional American Right.

So if the basic premise of fascism is that a group of people want to ram their beliefs down your throat, then quotes such as “So people are like, ‘Oh it’s unrealistic. Oh it’s vague. Oh it doesn’t address this little minute thing.’ And I’m like, ‘You try. You do it. Cuz you’re not. Cuz you’re not. So, until you do it, I’m the boss.’ How bout that?” might qualify.

As far as Cornyn’s remark about “the more the forms assumed by civilization, the more restricted the freedom of the individual must become,” certainly the demands of the Green New Deal, which postulated that every building in the United States should be upgraded or replaced and that air travel should stop being necessary, seem to indicate a rather oppressive government stifling the rights of the individual.

But what makes Ocasio-Cortez’s response most amusing in its thick-headedness is the fact that Cornyn had followed his initial tweet with two more that clearly elucidated what he was saying, and those were both issued before she responded:
