<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/georgia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Georgia</a> state senator has been suspended from the Senate Republican caucus after <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/georgia-state-lawmaker-calls-for-special-session-examining-fulton-county-das-actions-against-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">he called for</a> a special session of the legislature over the prosecution of former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sen. Colton Moore, who represents parts of northwest Georgia, was suspended by his Republican colleagues on Thursday. Moore was accused of misleading his constituents and breaking party rules, while the senator said that he was being targeted for his policy positions. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The Georgia RINOs responded to my call to fight back against the Trump witch hunts by acting like children and throwing me out of the caucus. But I’m not going anywhere,” Moore said in a post to X. “I stand by my Republican principles. I stand by the Republican platform. I will continue to serve as a Republican Senator from the great state of Georgia. Unfortunately, now I will be forced to refer to my colleagues, who ran on being ‘Trump conservatives’ as the RINO caucus.&#8221; </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Moore’s call for a special session to review Willis and her prosecution of Trump and his allies over their actions following the 2020 election in Georgia was not supported by Republican leadership in the state, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kemp-ends-attempt-to-have-special-session-to-oust-fani-willis-there-will-be-no-political-theater" target="_blank" rel="noopener">including</a> Governor Brian Kemp. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The people of Georgia are 100% with me. This is the fight of our lifetime, and I will continue to double down to defend the rule of law and do what is right,” Moore added. “I will continue to EXPOSE Fani Willis and the RINOs covering for her.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Georgia Senate Republicans <a href="https://twitter.com/GASenateGOP/status/1707462274753900932?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that Moore had a “right to his opinion” but had erred in his actions.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“However, during his advocacy for his ill-conceived proposal, Senator Moore has knowingly misled people across Georgia and our nation, causing unnecessary tension and hostility, while putting his Caucus colleagues and their families at risk of personal harm,&#8221; the party said in a statement. &#8220;Furthermore, Senator Moore was informed that he has violated multiple Caucus Rules on multiple occasions and was given every opportunity to simply adhere to the Rules going forward, not to abandon his wrongheaded policy position.&#8221;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Moore will still be able to vote, but will not be allowed to caucus with other Senate Republicans. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Back in August, Willis launched a 41-count indictment against Trump and 18 co-conspirators for allegedly violating the state’s version of the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and soliciting an official to violate their oath of office.</span></p>
