Actor Matthew Perry, known for his role as Chandler Bing in the hit ’90s sitcom “Friends,” has died, according to TMZ. He was 54 years old.
TMZ reported that Perry was found at his home in California on Saturday by first responders who were called over a possible cardiac arrest.
Officials believe that he drowned in his jacuzzi, the report said. No substances were found at the scene and no foul play was suspected.
The Los Angeles Times confirmed that report with its own law enforcement sources, saying that first responders discovered him unresponsive when they arrived at his home around 4 p.m.
The Times said that authorities did not provide an official cause of death.
Perry appeared in all 234 episodes of “Friends” over its 10 seasons, TMZ noted. He also appeared in numerous other TV shows, including “Growing Pains,” “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “The West Wing,” “Home Free,” “Ally McBeal,” “Scrubs,” and more.
Perry struggled with addiction to prescription painkillers and alcohol throughout his life.

“Obviously, because I was on ‘Friends,’ more people will listen to me. So I’ve got to take advantage of that, and I’ve got to help as many people as I can,” Perry said during an interview last year with ABC News.
Perry said he had his first drink at age 14 while hanging out with friends.
“I remember that day very well in Ottawa, Canada. I had never drank before,” he said. “And we just sort of drank this entire bottle of [wine],” he said. “And I lay in the grass and just was in heaven. I thought to myself, ‘This must be the way that normal people feel all the time,’ and I thought that at 14.”
He estimated that he went through rehab 15 times and detox 65 times.
