Authorities said they are investigating yet another instance of blatant public anti-Semitism in Paris after a video taken by a metro passenger went viral showing a group of people chanting hateful slogans directed at Jews.
The video posted to X on Tuesday shows a young woman recording while a group of people shout in French, “F*** the Jews and f*** your mother … long live Palestine!” according to the New York Post. The group of people, which appears to be made up of young adults, also chanted, “We are Nazis and proud!”

Paris Police Chief Laurent Nuñez said Wednesday that the incident was being investigated, writing on X that the chants caught on video were “shocking, unacceptable, unworthy comments.”
“We won’t let anything go. All means of investigation are used to quickly find the perpetrators,” Nuñez added.
French prosecutors are also investigating the anti-Semitic remarks, according to the Post.

France has seen a dramatic spike in anti-Semitism since Hamas’ brutal attack on Israel on October 7. According to Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, there have been 857 reports of anti-Semitic acts in France since Hamas started the war against Israel, which was nearly double the number reported for all of 2022, the Post reported.
Earlier this week, Jewish homes in Paris were targeted by anti-Semites who spray-painted the Star of David on the outside walls of the houses — copying a method used by Nazi Germany in the 1930s to single out Jews. The Union of Jewish Students of France posted photos of the homes that were marked and called for those responsible to be found and punished.
“Some want to terrorize French Jews by using the methods of the 1930s,” the Jewish Student Union posted on X. “They must be quickly found and severely punished.”

There are also reports of groups of people standing outside synagogues in France shouting threats. In the southwestern city of Carcassonne, someone spray-painted the message, “Killing Jews is a duty” on a stadium. Jews in France have expressed their fear of being targeted in the aftermath of Hamas’ attack on Israel.
“People are afraid, in a state of shock, they’ve lost their love for life,” Alexis Timsit, manager of a kosher pizzeria in the country, told POLITICO. “My business is down 50 percent, there’s no bustle in the street, nobody taking a stroll.”
