Since last Thursday, Fox News has boycotted Twitter, presumably in response to Twitter’s tacit permission for users to publicize Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s home address. Last Wednesday night, alleged activists from Antifa terrorized Carlson’s wife at Carlson’s home with verbal threats while also damaging Carlson’s front door.
As Mediaite reported, Fox News “regularly posts hundreds of tweets a day, and has racked up more than 400,000 tweets on its page. The Twitter account for Fox Business has been equally dormant, posting just one tweet in the past 24 hours.” Mediate quoted one source who stated that Fox News shut down its account on Twitter to protest the activists who mobbed Carlson’s home last Wednesday night.
The source continued, “[This] is a conscious decision in light of what was done to Tucker,” adding that Twitter was indifferent to requests to remove content that targeted Carlson.
The Blaze reported, “ … on social media, someone used the ‘doxxing’ tactic to reveal personal information about the host and advocate for more harassment. When this was reported to Twitter, they refused to take action, despite the fact that ‘doxxing’ is a violation of their user terms of service.”
Business Insider added that it had obtained an internal email from Fox News asking the company’s employees not to tweet out their stories or any other Fox News stories from their business or personal Twitter accounts. The email, from Fox News managing editor Greg Wilson, instructed employees to “please refrain from tweeting out our content from either section accounts or your own accounts until further notice.” An anonymous source within Fox News informed Business Insider the email was sent to every member of the digital team, comprised of roughly 140 people.
Scott Gustin of Tribune Media reported that Facebook was quite responsive when asked to remove posts that included Carlson’s home address, while Twitter support reportedly told Fox to “open a ticket” and did not remove the posts.
As The Daily Wire reported, last Wednesday night, a leftist mob showed up at Carlson’s Washington, D.C. home while he was on-air taping his show, “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” The leftist group “Smash Racism DC” posted a video showing the angry mob outside Carlson’s home chanting that they would “fight” him and demanding he leave town. One video was captioned, “Activists ring doorbell, hold protest at the Washington D.C. area home of [Tucker Carlson], racist, sexist, bigoted FOX News personality. So far no one has opened the door. Tucker Carlson, we will fight! We know where you sleep at night!”
Another caption read, “Racist scumbag, leave town! Every night you spread fear into our homes—fear of the other, fear of us, and fear of them. Each night you tell us we are not safe. Tonight you’re reminded that we have a voice. Tonight, we remind you that you are not safe either.”
Fox News condemned the actions of the activists at Carlson’s home. CEO Suzanne Scott and president Jay Wallace stated, “The incident that took place at Tucker’s home last night was reprehensible. The violent threats and intimidation tactics toward him and his family are completely unacceptable. We as a nation have become far too intolerant of different points of view. Recent events across our country clearly highlight the need for a more civil, respectful, and inclusive national conversation. Those of us in the media and in politics bear a special obligation to all Americans, to find common ground.”
