<p>Former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/maryland">Maryland</a> Governor Larry Hogan said over the weekend that it was time for some of the Republican presidential candidates to drop out of the race.</p>
<p>Hogan, a Republican who opposes former President Donald Trump, made the remarks during an interview on CBS News&#8217; &#8220;Face The Nation&#8221; on Sunday with guest host Robert Costa while discussing the shape of the 2024 presidential race.</p>
<p>&#8220;Look, I think there&#8217;s too many people in the field,&#8221; Hogan said. &#8220;You should not be in the race if you&#8217;re — if you don&#8217;t make the debate stage, you likely should consider getting out. If you&#8217;re on the debate stage, and you&#8217;re willing to stand up and challenge the leader that&#8217;s at 50 percent — if you&#8217;re unwilling to challenge Donald Trump, you should get off the stage.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;If you&#8217;re in there running for vice president, or you&#8217;re trying to be a Cabinet secretary, or you&#8217;re trying to become famous, or write a book, or get on television, you should get the heck out of the race,&#8221; he added.</p>
<p>Hogan effectively said that it was time for people like former Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX) to drop out of the race because &#8220;he&#8217;s not going to be president.&#8221;</p>
<p>Hogan said that other Republicans and conservative leaders were likely going to start trying to pressure some of the lower polling candidates to &#8220;put aside their own egos and their own goals to just make sure we do the right thing for the country and the party.&#8221;</p>
<p>Miami Mayor Francis Suarez became the first Republican candidate to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/francis-suarez-becomes-first-republican-to-drop-out-of-primary-race">drop out</a> of the presidential race late last month after he failed to qualify for the first primary debate.</p>
