Finally, It’s Done: Trump Wins 304 Electoral Votes in Electoral College Vote

On Monday, the electoral college finally put all the brouhaha over the chance to deny Donald Trump the presidency to rest, as the vote confirmed Trump will become the 45th president of the United States. What should have been a foregone conclusion, and in reality, was, had been questioned by Democrats and leftists desperate to undo the will of the American voters. Although Hillary Clinton won roughly three million more votes than Trump, that difference could simply be explained by the popular vote in California.

Ironically, the vote was taken on the 18th anniversary of the day that the House of Representatives approved two articles of impeachment against President Bill Clinton, charging him with lying under oath to a federal grand jury and obstructing justice.

For those who believe in the significance of dates, December 19th was also the date that Thomas Paine published American Crisis in 1776 and the Continental Army entered winter camp at Valley Forge in 1777.

Vice-president-elect Mike Pence offered his congratulations:

He added:

Trump released this statement:

The official votes cast by the Electoral College exceeded the 270 required to secure the presidency by a very large margin, far greater than ever anticipated by the media. This election represents a movement that millions of hard working men and women all across the country stood behind and made possible. With this historic step we can look forward to the bright future ahead. I will work hard to unite our country and be the President of all Americans. Together, we will make America great again.

As The Hill noted, the “faithless” electors that Democrats hoped would abandon Trump turned out to be more eager to abandon Hillary Clinton them Trump:

The Texas defectors mark the only two “faithless electors” who broke from the controversial Republican. One voted for Ohio Gov. John Kasich while the other voted for former Texas Rep. Ron Paul … A Minnesota delegate cast a vote for Sen. Bernie Sanders, only to be removed and replaced with an alternate. In Maine, an elector who had announced his intentions to vote for Sanders, only to change his vote and back Clinton in a second round of voting. And in Washington, three Democrats voted for former Secretary of State Colin Powell and one Democrat voted for Faith Spotted Eagle, a tribal activist opposed to the Dakota Access Pipeline.
