Twitter owner <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/elon-musk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Elon Musk</a>, who has been acting CEO of the social media platform since his purchase was completed, announced on Thursday that he had found a new CEO.
Musk made the announcement, appropriately, via Twitter — and while he did not reveal the name of his new CEO, he did reveal that he had hired a woman for the job and that she would be starting in a matter of just weeks.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-elon-musk-stepping-down-as-the-ceo-of-twitter-reveals-what-hell-do-next" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Musk said</a> shortly after taking over at Twitter that perhaps remaining CEO permanently was not the best situation for him, noting at the time that he would have to start searching for someone who could handle the role.
The billionaire entrepreneur polled users on the social media site in December of last year, asking whether they believed he should step down as CEO — and he promised, &#8220;I will abide by the results of this poll.&#8221;
In just 12 hours, 17,502,391 votes poured in, and the majority (57.5%) said that yes, they believed he should step down. Another 42.5% voted no.
&#8220;I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software &amp; servers teams,&#8221; he tweeted once the poll results were in.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced late Saturday night that in addition to the National Guardsmen — who were being deployed to restore order in Los Angeles — he was placing active duty U.S. Marines at nearby Camp Pendleton on high alert.
Hegseth&#8217;s announcement, made via a post on X, came just hours after it was reported that President Donald Trump was invoking the Insurrection Act of 1807 in order to deploy a number of National Guard troops as protesters clashed violently with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents across the Los Angeles area.
&#8220;The violent mob assaults on ICE and Federal Law Enforcement are designed to prevent the removal of Criminal Illegal Aliens from our soil; a dangerous invasion facilitated by criminal cartels (aka Foreign Terrorist Organizations) and a huge NATIONAL SECURITY RISK. Under President Trump, violence &amp; destruction against federal agents &amp; federal facilities will NOT be tolerated. It’s COMMON SENSE,&#8221; Hegseth said.
&#8220;The @DeptofDefense is mobilizing the National Guard IMMEDIATELY to support federal law enforcement in Los Angeles. And, if violence continues, active duty Marines at Camp Pendleton will also be mobilized — they are on high alert,&#8221; he added.

Pete Hegseth Puts Nearby U.S. Marines On High Alert As Los Angeles Burns

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino weighed in after Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids at several locations across the greater Los Angeles area erupted into clashes — some of them violent — between federal agents and protesters.
After the FBI had to be called in on at least one such confrontation on Friday, Bongino made it clear in a post on X that federal agents would not be deterred from doing their jobs — and he promised that anyone who attempted to interfere with them doing their jobs would face consequences.
&#8220;The Right to assemble and protest does not include a license to attack law enforcement officers, or to impede and obstruct our lawful immigration operations,&#8221; Bongino said. &#8220;We are thoroughly reviewing the evidence from yesterday’s incident in Los Angeles and we are working with the US Attorney’s Office to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice. The days of chaos ruling the streets are over. Either obey the law, or go to jail, there’s no third option.&#8221;

Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin clarified the situation, noting that the raids were specifically targeting illegal aliens who already had active deportation orders or had committed other crimes.

Protesters found it and began gathering. ICE will conduct targeted enforcement around LA today, serving criminal judicial warrants and enforcing final orders of removal/deportation orders. CBP and Border Patrol have been brought in to provide security and extra bodies, and a handful of agitators have already been arrested today for allegedly interfering with federal agents. Despite inflammatory statements from local politicians making it sound like ICE is sweeping neighborhoods in SoCal &amp; kicking doors down, they are targeting those who already have a deportation orders or who have criminality that has been signed off on by a federal judge. If others are found with the targets and they are also illegal aliens, they will be arrested too. This is enforcement of bipartisan immigration laws that have been on the books for decades.&#8221;

Protesters clashed with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and FBI agents as multiple raids played out in Los Angeles on Friday, and local authorities appeared to side mainly with the illegal aliens.
The raids were undertaken in several locations — including two Home Depot stores and the headquarters of Ambient Apparel in the fashion district — ranging from downtown Los Angeles to Westlake, Cypress Park, and the area known as Skid Row.
As the raids began, Mayor Karen Bass (D-LA) spoke out, condemning the federal agents for enforcing federal immigration laws and issuing a statement via X: &#8220;This morning, we received reports of federal immigration enforcement actions in multiple locations in Los Angeles. As mayor of a proud city of immigrants, who contribute to our city in so many ways, I am deeply angered by what has taken place.&#8221;
&#8220;These tactics sow terror in our communities and disrupt basic principles of safety in our city,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;My office is in close coordination with immigrant rights community organizations. We will not stand for this.&#8221;

As the raids were carried out, however, protesters making good on Bass&#8217; words reportedly trapped ICE agents inside a local building and surrounded them. The FBI had to be called to resolve the situation.

Protesters also surrounded federal agents and their vehicles as they attempted to leave the area, running in the street alongside and even in front of moving SUVs. The end result was as ugly as it was predictable, and at least one protester was caught on camera as he was struck by one of the vehicles.

Agents also reportedly employed smoke grenades and pepper spray as they attempted to clear the area and disperse the protests.
Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA) also issued a statement similar to that made by Mayor Bass, saying, &#8220;I am closely monitoring the ICE raids that are currently happening across Los Angeles, including at a Korean American-owned store in my district. L.A. has long been a safe haven for immigrants. Trump claims he’s targeting criminals, but he’s really just tearing families apart and destabilizing entire communities.&#8221;

Multiple reports have confirmed that a number of illegal aliens were taken into custody during the raids, but the exact number has not been revealed.
According to <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jun/06/los-angeles-ice-raids-immigration">one report</a> from The Guardian, Angelica Salas, executive director for the Coalition of Humane Immigrant Rights, claimed that at least 45 people had been taken into custody without warrants.
&#8220;Our community is under attack and is being terrorized. These are workers, these are fathers, these are mothers, and this has to stop. Immigration enforcement that is terrorizing our families throughout this country and picking up our people that we love must stop now,&#8221; she said.

Anti-ICE Activist Run Over As Protests Over Raids Get Ugly

FBI Director Kash Patel left popular podcast host Joe Rogan in shock when he revealed that he&#8217;d been swatted just one day prior to his appearance on Rogan&#8217;s show.
Patel let the information slip while he and Rogan recorded &#8220;The Joe Rogan Experience&#8221; episode that dropped on Friday, and the host visibly recoiled at the thought. &#8220;The head of the FBI gets swatted?&#8221; Rogan asked in apparent disbelief, his eyebrows raised.

During the same interview, both Rogan and Patel appeared to be caught off guard by news of the very public spat between President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk — largely over Trump&#8217;s support for the One, Big Beautiful Bill currently before the U.S. Senate.
Patel quickly made it clear that he did not want any part of that conversation, and Rogan suggested that someone might need to take Musk&#8217;s phone away — at least on a temporary basis.
&#8220;What is he doing? Someone should take his phone away,&#8221; Rogan said.
&#8220;I’m just staying out of the Trump-Elon thing. That’s way outside my lane,&#8221; Patel replied.
&#8220;What the f*** are they doing?&#8221; Rogan asked.
Patel was insistent: &#8220;I know my lane and that ain’t it.&#8221;
