Disney theme parks have made a subtle new change to the name of traditional cast members in the woke entertainment giant’s never-ending quest to cater to left-wing extremists.
The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom Park in Florida and the Disneyland Resort in California will reopen on August 25 after being shuttered during the pandemic. Park employees in the boutique used to be referred to as “Fairy Godmothers in Training” but will now be called “Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices.”
Per the park website, this makeover experience caters to young guests ages 3 – 12, helping them transform either princesses or knights.
“With the wave of a magic wand—plus a few hands-on tricks of the trade—our Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices will pamper and primp your child until they look storybook stunning,” the page reads. “Children can choose a hairstyle then add makeup, nail polish and accessories—even a Disney costume.”
The Disney-themed blog Streaming the Magic described the name change by saying, “This way, cast members that might not identify as female can still be part of the process to dress up & style the children without having to refer to themselves as a female Disney character.”
Twitter users strongly reacted to the change, while others insisted it wasn’t a big deal.
“No big deal to change it to Fairy Godmothers Apprentices. Everyone can calm down,” one person shared with an eye roll emoji.
“Fairy God Birthing Persons,” someone else quipped.
“So you eliminated Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls….even though ladies and gentleman boys and girls can identify as the opposite…..so who are you eliminating the phrase for? Ponies?” someone else said, referring to another change Disney parks made recently.
“Is it really a problem to say welcome everyone versus welcome ladies and gentlemen? It’s amazing how some people just go out of their way to find an issue with something,” another Twitter user argued.
Disney has been under scrutiny lately after leaked footage from an internal meeting leaked, revealing one executive producer’s self-described “not-at-all secret gay agenda,” The Daily Wire previously reported.
Disney diversity and inclusion manager Vivian Ware bragged about how the company eliminated mentions of “ladies,” “gentlemen,” “boys,” and “girls” in its theme parks to create “that magical moment” for children and adults who do not identify with traditional gender roles.
“We’ve trained, we provided training for all of our cast members in relationship to that. So now they know it’s ‘Hello, everyone,’ or ‘Hello, friends,’” Ware explained.
“We don’t want to just assume because someone might be, in our interpretation, may be presenting as female, that they may not want to be called ‘princess,’” she continued. “So let’s think differently about how do we really engage with our guests in a meaningful and inclusive way that makes it magical and memorable for everyone.”
