Actress Bijou Phillips has filed for divorce from “That 70s Show” star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Danny Masterson</a> — just under two weeks after her husband of 11 years was sentenced to prison for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/rape" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rape</a>.
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pair</a> wed in 2011 and share a 9-year-old daughter together. Phillips had been publicly supportive of Masterson up until now, and even pleaded the judge for leniency in sentencing due to his obligations at home.
The divorce filing cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce. The 43-year-old mom of one is also seeking spousal support.
&#8220;Ms. Phillips has decided to file for divorce from her husband during this unfortunate time. Her priority remains with her daughter,&#8221; Phillips&#8217; attorney Peter A. Lauzon said in a statement, per <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/danny-masterson-wife-bijou-phillips-divorce-rape-conviction-rcna105920" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a>. &#8220;This period has been unimaginably hard on the marriage and the family. &#8230; Ms. Phillips acknowledges that Mr. Masterson is a wonderful father to their daughter. She hopes that everyone will respect her family’s privacy in these difficult times.&#8221;
Masterson was found guilty in May of raping two women between 2001 and 2003. He received the maximum sentence of 30 years to life on September 7. The actor will be eligible for parole after 25 years.
Phillips previously wrote a letter petitioning the judge to give Masterson a lighter sentence. “Our daughter and I are heartbroken that he is not home with us,” the letter said, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/danny-mastersons-wife-pleaded-for-leniency-after-rape-conviction-we-need-him-more-than-you-can-imagine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.

“Danny and I have been together for 19 years. We married in 2011 and our beautiful daughter was born in 2014. She is the bright spot throughout many years of crises and uncertainty,” Phillips continued. “I can say that Danny has literally been a life-saving partner to me.”
“Danny is an amazing father,” the letter went on. “Our daughter and I are heartbroken that he is not home with us. It has been very difficult without him here. Even though he is now in jail, he calls her every day. He helps her with homework every night. He teaches her math with kindness and patience. She is far above grade level in all subjects, reading three grades above her own, and that is thanks to the guidance and attention of her father.”

Actress and singer Mandy Moore complained that the process of rebuilding the parts of Los Angeles destroyed by wildfires in January has been a nightmare of red tape.
The “This Is Us” star expressed her frustration in an Instagram story earlier this week, according to <a href="https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/mandy-moore-slams-la-wildfire-rebuild-protocol-as-heartless/">US Weekly</a>. &#8220;Thanks, LA County for making it as frustrating and impossible to rebuild after the fires as possible,&#8221; Moore shared at the time.
&#8220;Shouldn’t be surprised but it’s mind boggling the red tape and hoops they’re putting us all through,&#8221; she added. &#8220;It’s maddening and heartless … the endless hoops and meaningless protocol LA County is asking of fire victims who want to rebuild and get their lives back. Wasn’t California going to make this as easy as possible?&#8221;
The “A Walk to Remember” star brought up the situation again on Thursday. &#8220;6 permits issued in Altadena. 10,000 structures burned down. The pace is glacial. The nonsensical red tape they have in place that prevents those of that are ready to rebuild is just mind boggling,” Moore seethed.
&#8220;And I say this as someone with privilege: we have insurance, plans, a contractor, etc… everyone deserves an advocate and a system that is streamlined and supports success. People want to get the ball rolling and start to piece their lives back together.&#8221;
&#8220;We JUST finished building one of the structures that burned down [this past] November. We have all the plans and permits ready to go and we were just told we have to resubmit everything and start over,&#8221; Moore continued. &#8220;For no reason. LA County should want success stories right now but instead, they&#8217;re focused on antiquated protocol. This is why people are leaving California in droves. They make it impossible.&#8221;
Moore’s home in Altadena was partially destroyed. She was one of many celebrities to have property damage as the uncontrolled fires devastated the area at the beginning of this year.
&#8220;Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing. For now. It’s not livable but mostly intact,&#8221; the actress <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DEnXs-Gy2jn/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=f6d90c6d-7550-4b8c-8259-a015c9cc7361&amp;img_index=1">shared on Instagram</a> in January alongside a photo carousel of the damage. 
&#8220;We lost Taylor and Griffin’s studio with every instrument and piece of equipment they’ve ever owned,&#8221; Moore said. Her husband Taylor Goldsmith and his brother Griffin are members of the band Dawes. 
&#8220;We lost our garage and back house. Everyone we know lost everything. Every house on our street is gone.&#8221;
She concluded the post, “Feeling weird survivors guilt. We love this community and will do everything we can to help rebuild and support. Thanks for everyone for checking on us and offering us help. Altadena strong.”

Mandy Moore Blasts LA County For ‘Nonsensical Red Tape’ Attempting To Rebuild Post-Wildfire

The world eagerly awaits details about the newly elected Pope Leo XIV, who made history for being the first pontiff to hail from the United States.
Cardinal Robert Prevost, 69, was born in Chicago, and according to one family member, he spent his leisure time doing two things that many Americans will instantly recognize. Pope Leo’s brother, John Provost, said that the newest head of the Catholic Church enjoys playing Wordle and just watched the Academy Award-winning film, “Conclave.”
“First we do Wordle ‘cause this is a regular thing, then we do Words with Friends,” John <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@nbcnews/video/7502211263188225326?_r=1&amp;_t=ZP-8wCYrET9bMl">told</a> NBC News. “It’s something to keep his mind off life in the real world.&#8221;
He continued, referencing the red socks that Catholic cardinals are traditionally required to wear.
 &#8220;And then we talk about what’s going on and I said, ‘Well, do you have your red socks?’ That doesn&#8217;t go over well all the time. And then just that kind of stuff.&#8221;
“And I said, ‘Well are you ready for this?’ I said, ‘Did you watch the movie ‘Conclave’ so you know how to behave?” John said. “And he had just finished watching the movie ‘Conclave.’ So he knew how to behave. So it’s that kind of stuff because I wanted to take his mind off of it. You know, laugh about something because this is now an awesome responsibility.”
“Conclave,” directed by Edward Berger and starring Ralph Fiennes as Cardinal Thomas Lawrence, is a political thriller that explores the process of electing a new pope following the sudden death of the previous pontiff. It’s based on a 2016 thriller novel by the same name. 
In the film, the College of Cardinals convenes within the Vatican, and Lawrence uncovers hidden scandals and power struggles among the leading candidates, including revelations of corruption and personal indiscretions. 
Some practicing Catholics have <a href="https://www.missiodeicatholic.org/p/why-as-catholics-we-should-not-support">called the film</a> “blasphemous,” saying it “misaligns with our values” and “mocks the church.”
The real-life conclave began on Wednesday and concluded on Thursday, with Prevost selected as pope. He appeared before the assembled crowd in St. Peter’s Square on Thursday, addressing them in both Italian and Spanish.
&#8220;We still keep in our ears that weak but always courageous voice of Pope Francis blessing Rome,&#8221; Pope Leo said. &#8220;The Pope who blessed Rome gave his blessing to the world, to the whole world that morning on Easter Sunday.&#8221;

Pope Leo Recently Watched The Movie ‘Conclave,’ His Brother Says

A 48-year-old Mississippi man accused of stalking actress Jennifer Aniston and crashing his PT Cruiser through the front gate of her Los Angeles home showed up to court on Thursday shirtless and wrapped in a blanket, leading the presiding judge to order a mental evaluation.
Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, who did not speak during his court appearance, pleaded not guilty to felony charges of stalking and vandalism through his public defender. Prosecutors allege that Carwyle has harassed Aniston for two years with voicemails, emails, and social media messages, referring to Aniston as his wife in some posts.
“You are not to have any contact with Jennifer Aniston under any conditions,” the judge said, per the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/jennifer-aniston-stalking-case-e17d66ca3fe201400c33049d5bf4c7a8">Associated Press</a>.
Proceedings were suspended due to Carwyle’s mental health status. His next hearing is scheduled for May 22 in mental health court. He will remain in jail until that time.
The gate-crashing incident occurred on Monday. Carwyle was arrested by LAPD around 12:30 p.m. after private security guards detained him outside Aniston&#8217;s home. Prosecutors said the accused caused “substantial damage&#8221; to the property.
Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/jennifer-anistons-alleged-gate-crasher-charged-felony-stalking">reported</a> that he had been living in a Walmart parking lot in Los Angeles for several months. The outlet also noted that Carwyle was an auto mechanic and that his friends have said they’re concerned that he’s having a “mental breakdown.”
&#8220;Stalking is a crime that can quickly escalate from harassment to dangerous, violent actions, threatening the safety of victims and our communities,&#8221; Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said. &#8220;My office is committed to aggressively prosecuting those who stalk and terrorize others, ensuring they are held accountable.&#8221;
Aniston&#8217;s attorney, who was at Thursday’s hearing, declined to comment on the proceedings. 
The actress bought her mid-century style mansion in L.A.&#8217;s Bel Air neighborhood for about $21 million in 2012.
Aniston shot to fame while starring on the hit sitcom “Friends,” which aired from 1994 until 2004. She currently stars in “The Morning Show” on Apple TV+.

“Ray Donovan” star Liev Schreiber said it’s not that big of a deal that his son identifies as a woman, then proceeds to say it’s “important” to talk about it.
“Kai was always who Kai is,” the actor told <a href="https://variety.com/2025/scene/columns/liev-schreiber-trans-daughter-kai-1236390985/">Variety</a> of his 16-year-old son. “But I suppose the most profound moment was her asking us to change her pronouns. To be honest with you, it didn’t feel like that big of a deal to me only because Kai had been so feminine for so long.”
“Kai is such a fighter,” he added later. “It’s important that she goes, ‘Hey, I am trans,’ and, ‘Look at me.’”
The outlet noted that Kai, along with Schreiber and his wife, Taylor, will attend an upcoming charity gala to raise money for homeless LGBT youth.
“This isn’t just about representing the trans community,” Schreiber said. “This is actually a community of people who don’t have great resources, who don’t have access to help, who aren’t being protected and looked after by their families. These are people who are being rejected. These are people who are experiencing the harshest version of humanity that we can offer, and some of them are not surviving it.”
When the Variety interviewer asked if the nine-time Emmy Award nominee had any advice for parents of “trans kids,” Schrieber replied, “I don’t know the answer for your kid. I don’t know what it’s like for you to be a trans dad. I don’t know how you were brought up. I don’t know what religion you encountered or what your spirituality is. And for me to tell you what I think about my kid feels like an overstep.”
He added, “I guess if I would say anything to someone who’s having trouble with their trans teen or their adolescent trans kid, it’s ‘Teenagers are a headache. They’re hard.’ It doesn’t matter whether they’re trans or not because you’ll come out of this. But a trans teen is going to be a teen. They’re such a pain so much of the time, and Kai is as feisty and outspoken as they come.”
When asked how he feels about President Donald Trump rolling back left-wing gender policies via executive orders, the actor said he doesn’t “dwell on it too much.”

Liev Schreiber On His Trans-Identifying Son: ‘It’s Important That She Goes, I Am Trans, Look at Me’

Kennedy Center director Richard Grenell has issued a strongly worded response to reports that around a dozen actors from a “Les Misérables” tour group are planning to boycott an upcoming performance at the facility because President Donald Trump is expected to attend.
“We haven’t heard this rumor,” Grenell told Entertainment Weekly in a <a href="https://ew.com/kennedy-center-boss-calls-out-les-mis-actors-over-trump-performance-11730526">statement</a> on Wednesday. “But the Kennedy Center will no longer fund intolerance.”
“Any performer who isn’t professional enough to perform for patrons of all backgrounds, regardless of political affiliation, won’t be welcomed,” Grenell added. “In fact, we think it would be important to out those vapid and intolerant artists to ensure producers know who they shouldn’t hire — and that the public knows which shows have political litmus tests to sit in the audience.”
“The Kennedy Center wants to be a place where people of all political stripes sit next to each other and never ask who someone voted for but instead enjoy a performance together,” he concluded.
Grenell was responding to a CNN <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/07/politics/kennedy-center-les-mis-cast-boycott-trump">report</a> citing sources claiming that “Les Mis” cast members were allowed to boycott the June 11 performance because of Trump. The outlet didn’t name any names, but said “both major cast members and members of the ensemble are among those sitting out,” per their sources.
The Kennedy Center has been in the news lately following Trump’s election and his subsequent move to fire all former leadership and appoint himself Chairman of the Board, plus installing Grenell as interim director. 
There have been protests, cancellations, and general doom and gloom from leftists, but despite their reactions, the venue has been attracting record crowds. The Kennedy Center just broke its all-time attendance record for a public event it hosted on March 29, welcoming 11,000 attendees, of whom 76% were there for the first time.
This comes after Trump promised to scrub leftist programs from the Center’s lineup. “NO MORE DRAG SHOWS, OR OTHER ANTI-AMERICAN PROPAGANDA — ONLY THE BEST,” the president wrote on Truth Social in February. 
“At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., GREAT AGAIN,” Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-dumps-kennedy-center-board-puts-immediate-end-to-drag-shows-for-kids">wrote</a> in another post. “Just last year, the Kennedy Center featured Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth — THIS WILL STOP.”

Kennedy Center Director Rips ‘Les Mis’ Cast Over Trump Boycott: ‘Vapid And Intolerant’

A new statue of an overweight black woman placed in Times Square in New York City is inspiring a lot of reactions online, especially since it&#8217;s being compared to Michelangelo’s “David.” 
Times Square Arts recently erected the statue by artist Thomas J Price, which is called &#8220;Grounded in the Stars,&#8221; as a temporary display in the tourist-heavy area of Manhattan. There will also be a “Man Series” of billboards displayed in the area.
The Times Square website <a href="https://www.timessquarenyc.org/tsq-arts-projects/grounded-in-the-stars">says</a> of the piece: &#8220;Price’s multi-channel presentation on the screens and sculptural installation on the plaza below forms a two-part takeover in Times Square that foregrounds the intrinsic value of the individual and amplifies traditionally marginalized bodies on a monumental scale.&#8221;
The website notes that the statue depicts “a fictionalized character” who was “constructed from images, observations, and open calls spanning between Los Angeles and London.” 
“The young woman depicted in Grounded in the Stars carries familiar qualities, from her stance and countenance to her everyday clothing,” it says, noting that her “stance is a subtle nod to Michelangelo’s David.”
The site also says, “the woman in Grounded in the Stars cuts a stark contrast to the pedestaled permanent monuments — both white, both men — which bookend Duffy Square, while embodying a quiet gravity and grandeur.”
Social media users have had overwhelmingly negative reactions to the statue.
“They tear down statues of American heroes and replace them with statues of random obese black women. That’s because the Left has no historical heroes. Everyone who was born before approximately 2005 is inherently problematic,” Daily Wire podcast host Matt Walsh <a href="https://x.com/mattwalshblog/status/1920116456454328758?s=43&amp;t=BDz6oekueqrSVJ50bM62xw">wrote</a>.

“In 2021, NYC removed a statue of Thomas Jefferson from City Hall due to ‘racism.’ The city has now erected a huge statue of a rotund woman in Times Square,” conservative commentator Allie Beth Stuckey <a href="https://x.com/conservmillen/status/1920201578516263221">wrote</a>. 
“So, we’re taking down monuments to people who accomplished some of [the] greatest feats in human history, from which we are all still benefitting (sic), and instead honoring random people who have zero notable contributions. Doomed,” she added.
