A Tesla Cybertruck that exploded in front of Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday morning was reportedly an intentional detonation, which comes after federal law enforcement officials confirmed an attack that unfolded in New Orleans earlier in the day was an Islamic terrorist attack.
NBC News correspondent Tom Winter said that the investigation into the Cybertruck explosion “shows it was intentional and the incident is now being looked at as a possible terror attack,” according to multiple senior law enforcement officials.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted on X: “We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself.”
“All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion,” he said.
Musk later added that the incident “appears likely to be an act of terrorism.”
Musk noted that the Cybertruck was rented through Turo, an online company that allows people to rent out their vehicles to other people.
It is the same company from which the truck that was used in the New Orleans terror attack was rented, according to the New York Post.
“Perhaps they are linked in some way,” Musk said.
The driver of the Cybertruck pulled up next to the building and moments later, the truck exploded.
The driver was killed and seven people who were near the vehicle were injured.
