Cruz SMACKS Trump With His April Fool’s Joke
For April Fools’ Day, Ted Cruz released a pointed and funny 72-second video in which he asserts Donald Trump actually accepted a debate with him. The video begins with footage of Cruz in Des Moines, Iowa, stating, “I would like to invite Donald right now to engage in a one-on-one debate with me, any time, anywhere.”
The screen then shifts to Trump sitting on his airplane, bragging, “We’ve had eleven debates. According to the polls, I’ve won every single debate.’ The screen then cuts to Trump appearing on the O’Reilly Factor, asserting, “We’re going to go on forever with these debates.”
What follows should give the show away; the infamous video of Rick Astley singing “Never Gonna Give You Up.”
Yup. You’ve been rickrolled. For those unfamiliar with the term, yahoo.com explains, “Rickrolling is a popular bait-and-switch meme in which someone shares a link that ostensibly pertains to the discussion at hand, but actually redirects to Astley’s signature song. “
The lyrics run as follows:
We’re no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment’s what I’m thinking of
You wouldn’t get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I’m feeling
Gotta make you understand
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
