Wyoming Republican Senator John Barrasso targeted Democrat ‘defund the police’ policies and rising crime in a senate speech on Thursday specifically criticizing President Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). 
“This year 12 American cities have already broken records for murder. And the year isn&#8217;t even over. Every one of those cities is run by Democrats,” the senator <a href="https://www.barrasso.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news-releases?ContentRecord_id=43CBEBA2-63E7-434F-95DB-5E9D40E80847">said</a>. “Last summer, Democrat cities adopted a rallying cry, and that cry was ‘defund the police.’”
He then went after rhetoric from Biden, Pelosi, and Vice President Kamala Harris. 
“Joe Biden said America was systematically racist. He said police funding should be redirected,” Barrasso noted. “Nancy Pelosi talked about shuffling money around. Kamala Harris, our vice president, said America should reimagine public safety.”
The senator also called out New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and the Los Angeles City Council for implementing progressive police policies, including cutting funding for police. 
He said that Biden had “effectively endorsed the defund the police movement” and said that many in his administration were complicit in the movement. 
Noting Biden’s support for vaccine mandates, Barrasso said that Biden, “would rather see unvaccinated police sit at home than let them continue doing the job they&#8217;ve done all through the pandemic” at a time when he argued more police were needed. 
Going after the “rogue prosecutor movement” he noted that their policies had led to “chaos and carnage.” 
“This is the movement led by George Soros and other powerful liberals. They have invested millions of dollars in electing radical prosecutors,” Barrasso said, adding,“The result has been chaos and carnage from coast to coast.”
Barrasso asserted that San Francisco had become a “homicide haven on the west coast.”
“Even the Democrat mayor spoke recently about the rein of criminals who are destroying our city. San Francisco is one of the wealthiest cities in the world,” he said. “It is the hometown of the Speaker of the House and is now a homicide haven on the west coast. In just a few years, liberal policies had turned what had been a beautiful city into a war zone.”
On Tuesday, San Francisco Democrat Mayor London Breed called for more “aggressive policing.” 
“It’s time that the reign of criminals who are destroying our city, it is time for it to come to an end,”she said. “And it comes to an end when we take the steps to be more aggressive with law enforcement, more aggressive with the changes in our policies, and less tolerant of all the bulls**t that has destroyed our city, we are going to turn this around.”
An ABC <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/twelve-major-cities-with-new-homicide-records-in-2021-all-led-by-democrats">report</a> last week noted that 12 major cities, each with a Democrat mayor, all had broken homicide records. The cities included: Portland, Oregon; St. Paul, Minnesota; Indianapolis, Indiana; Toledo, Ohio; Rochester, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Austin, Texas; Tucson, Arizona; and Albuquerque, New Mexico. 
&#8220;It&#8217;s terrible to every morning get up and have to go look at the numbers and then look at the news and see the stories. It&#8217;s just crazy. It&#8217;s just crazy and this needs to stop,&#8221; <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/US/12-major-us-cities-top-annual-homicide-records/story?id=81466453">said</a> Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney.
Recent events have led many to be critical of lenient bail policies. The suspect in the Waukesha parade attack <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/waukesha-parade-attack-spotlights-the-danger-of-left-wing-prosecutors">was</a> released days prior to his rampage at a local Christmas parade, on an “inappropriately low bail,&#8221; according to the Milwaukee’s DA’s office.
