Actor Chris Evans, who plays the self-controlled Captain America, wasn’t quite so controlled after he found out KKK leader David Duke was enthused about President Trump’s choice for Attorney General, Jeff Sessions:
Evans was reacting to this tweet of Duke’s:
Yet Evans had no compunction about remaining silent when Duke quasi-endorsed hard-left Congressman Keith Ellison, who has made overtly anti-Semitic statements, for DNC chair:
Evans’ silence regarding Ellison prompted Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro to fire back at Captain America:
Shapiro and Evans confronted each other once before. In 2013, Shapiro appeared on CNN with Piers Morgan, dismissing claims that NBA player Jason Collins deserved hero status for announcing that he was gay. Shapiro commented:
Heroism is defined by willingness to sacrifice, and willingness to take a real personal risk in favor of a noble, larger goal. This may be a noble, larger goal but I’m not sure it’s a great personal risk . . . Why do you hate Americans so much, that you think this is such a homophobic country, that when Jason Collins comes out it is the biggest deal in the history of humanity? President Obama has to personally call him to congratulate him …. I think that America is a fundamentally good place …. Being who you are in 2013 America is what America is about. It is not heroic to be who you are publicly. I’m glad for Jason Collins if it makes him feel like he’s going to have a happier life now. But, it does not make him a hero to be who you are because America is not a homophobic country.”
Shapiro fired back:
Shapiro, who has tweeted roughly 77,000 times and has 438,000 followers, has only designated one tweet that he likes: Evans’.
