Britney Spears issued a scathing response Thursday to reports of her friends and family planning an intervention for her safety.

Earlier this week, TMZ published a report, which cited unnamed sources, claiming the pop star’s friends and family had planned an intervention due to concerns about her mental health.

“I’m afraid she’s gonna die,” one of the sources reportedly told TMZ.

According to the outlet, multiple people with direct knowledge of the situation called Spears’ behavior volatile. They said she’s been “flying off the handle” and had been taking medications that “hype her up” while avoiding other meds that are supposed to calm her down.

Multiple outlets picked up the story, which inspired the singer to refute the entire story in an Instagram post late Thursday night.

First, the 41-year-old performing artist shared a quote that said, “A state of gratitude will shift you to a higher frequency.” Spears wrote in the caption, “It makes me sick to my stomach that it’s even legal for people to make up stories that I almost died.”

“I mean at some point enough is enough!!! I’m probably going to have to stop posting on Instagram because even though I enjoy doing it, there’s obviously a lot of people who don’t wish me well!!! I’m honestly not surprised at all … Again doing the best I can!!!,” she went on.

Next, she addressed the conservatorship. “Again, the conservatorship has been over for almost a year … No folks, it’s not 2007 … it’s 2023 and I’m making my first homemade lasagna at home!!!” Spears wrote. “I finally got my fireplace to work in my living room!!! As my hubby says it best: don’t believe everything you read!!! All that love right back at ya!!!”

The “Toxic” singer has been under constant scrutiny since the end of her 13-year conservatorship in November 2021. Since that time, Spears has made headlines for her seemingly erratic behavior as well as the provocative videos she’s been posting to social media.

Most recently, Spears shot back at fans who called the police to go check on her after she deleted her Instagram account. “Police were called to my home based on some prank phone calls. I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded,” the singer shared on Twitter January 26. “The police never entered my home and when they came to my gate they quickly realized there was no issue and left immediately.”
