Model and actress Brigitte Nielsen insists it’s never too late to have another baby.
The celebrity gave birth to her fifth child in 2018, when she was 55 years old, after undergoing IVF. She said her adult children expressed their disapproval at the time, but she disagreed with them.
“Half the world was saying that when I got pregnant at 55 — including my four older sons,” Nielsen told People in an interview published Monday. “But first of all, there’s no such thing as ‘too old.'”
The model also implied it was sexist to question a woman getting pregnant in her later years. She claimed older dads like Robert De Niro and Al Pacino weren’t facing criticism for parenting children in their 80s.
“We don’t say that to men who have children in their 60s, 70s, even 80s! … Look at Robert De Niro. He’s 79, and he has a 7-month-old,” Nielsen argued.

“When I was a younger mom, I was often juggling being single, being on a plane, on a movie set. Now Frida comes first,” she continued. “You know how kids say grandmothers are the best? I feel like I have that mindset and emotion. I have the patience and that extra bit of love to give now, and I think it’s because I’m a grandmother’s age.”
Nielsen married her current husband Mattia Dessì in 2009 when she was 42 and he was 27. The couple did many rounds of IVF before she became pregnant with their now five-year-old daughter, Frida.
“The doctor warned me to be realistic about my chances,” she told the outlet. “He told me I had a two and a half percent chance of getting pregnant, so when it finally happened, it was just amazing. And then there was fear, because I was such high-risk, being 54.”
“It was the easiest pregnancy I ever had,” Nielsen said. “Maybe because I had done it four times before, and my priorities had shifted. It was a deep, deep desire within me and a choice.”
Besides Frida, Nielsen has four adult sons. She shares Julian with her first ex-husband Kasper Winding. Her son Killian’s father is Nielsen’s ex-boyfriend Mark Gastineau. The model has two sons, Douglas and Raoul Meyer Jr., with her fourth husband, Raoul Meyer.

The celebrity did not have children with her second husband, Sylvester Stallone, nor her third husband, Sebastian Copeland. She’s also been linked romantically to Flavor Flav, Sean Penn, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
