The author of the controversial “anonymous” New York Times op-ed from two years ago is a CNN contributor and a Google employee currently on leave until after the presidential election.
News broke that the “anonymous” author was Miles Taylor just minutes before Taylor confirmed it on his Twitter account.
Taylor has also lied, as evidenced by an interview that he had with CNN’s Anderson Cooper where he claimed twice that he was not “anonymous.” Vice News reporter Elizabeth Landers also reported that Taylor lied to her about the matter during an interview back in August.
Watch Miles Taylor lie twice in 22 seconds.

A brief overview of Taylor’s Twitter account shows a pattern of dubious claims that are not well supported by reality.
For example, Taylor writes: “BIDEN is a better Republican than TRUMP on national security: He’s FOR our intelligence & military servicembers…AGAINST ‘falling in love’ with Russia and North Korea…and FOR teaming up with fellow democracies against the bad guys.”

Taylor’s comments are not backed up by evidence, ranging from Obama Secretary of Defense Robert Gates saying that Joe Biden has been wrong on nearly every major national security issue over the last four decades to Russian President Vladimir Putin saying that the Trump administration has been tough on Russia.
Another example comes from last week, when Taylor responded to Trump saying that Biden wanted to destroy American’s Second Amendment rights.
“I am a gun owner. A Republican,” Taylor claimed. “And a former Trump official. @JoeBiden is NOT going to take away your guns & 2nd Amendment rights. Get real, people, and ignore this carnival barker.”

Again, Taylor’s tweet is not well supported by reality as Biden states on his website that he wants to ban “assault weapons,” a poorly defined term used by the media and Democrats to push gun control. The term ultimately means semi-automatic firearms.
The Daily Wire reported:
Biden has pushed far-left positions on gun control. He has called for banning semi-automatic firearms and “clips that have multiple bullets in them,” which could effectively ban the overwhelming majority of handguns, all semi-automatic shotguns and rifles, and many hunting rifles which use magazines. Biden has often made remarks that indicate that he does not understand firearms, including claims that “rational” gun “policy” includes things like banning “50 clips in a weapon” – a statement that does not make any sense. Biden has dismissed heroic acts by citizens who stopped mass shootings by claiming that they should not have had the specific gun that they used to stop the shooting. Biden also attacked Texas Governor Greg Abbott last year for signing a bill into law that allowed churchgoers to carry firearms with them to church.
Earlier this year, Biden brought out far-left anti-gun extremist Robert Francis O’Rourke during a rally in Texas and declared that the failed Senate and presidential candidate was going to lead his efforts in implementing gun control.
“I wanna make something clear, I’m going to guarantee you this is not the last you’ve seen of [O’Rourke],” Biden said. “You’re going to take care of the gun problem with me. You’re going to be the one who leads this effort.”
“I’m counting on you. I’m counting on you,” Biden continued. “We need you badly, the state needs you, the country needs you. You’re the best.”
The Trump campaign highlighted some of the extreme comments that O’Rourke has made in regards to the Second Amendment, which includes gun confiscation.

The Daily Wire highlighted O’Rourke’s fringe anti-Second Amendment views in a profile piece last year:
O’Rourke has frequently supported gun control policies that would infringe upon Americans’ Second Amendment rights. He supports expanded background checks and limitations or bans on certain weapons and magazines that are currently in wide distribution. O’Rourke supports a ban on the undefinable sub-class of firearms referred to as so-called “assault weapons” — a line of thought that, if taken to its logical conclusion, could lead to the banning of all semi-automatic firearms in America. Furthermore, O’Rourke has gone farther than any of his 2020 Democratic presidential nomination rivals in emphatically calling for a mandatory “buyback” program — i.e., government-mandated gun confiscation — for all civilian-owned “assault weapons.”
