Former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> ripped into President Joe Biden on Monday over his handling of illegal immigration after an illegal immigrant from Venezuela <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/suspect-in-shooting-of-2-nypd-officers-is-an-illegal-immigrant-from-venezuela" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allegedly shot</a> two New York cops. 
Trump said that Biden had enabled a wave of crime from illegal immigrants that was endangering the public. His comments came after police said that 19-year-old Bernardo Raul Castro-Mata shot officers Christopher Abreu, and Richard Yarusso after they attempted to question him about a robbery. 
“Biden Migrant Crime is out of control and is ravaging America! Last night, two brave NYPD officers doing their job were shot by a Monster Illegal Immigrant who came here illegally from Venezuela last year and was living in a tax-payer funded migrant shelter,” Trump posted on <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/112553579754674188">Truth Social.</a> “Crooked Joe Biden has trafficked in the worst people from around the world, many with heinous criminal records, and unleashed them into our communities.” 
The former president then pivoted to saying the border needed to be secured and a border wall built. 
“Soros-funded DA Alvin Bragg should focus on keeping the streets of New York safe, but has instead wasted time and money engaging in a ridiculous political witch-hunt against yours truly,” he said. “We must focus on finishing the wall, securing our border, and keeping our streets safe. MAGA 2024!”
According to investigators, police attempted to stop Castro-Mata on Monday after they saw him driving a moped down the wrong side of the street as they investigated a robbery in Queens at 1:40 a.m.

After police attempted to speak with him, Castro-Mata ran away on foot and fired “multiple times” at the officers, hitting one in his bulletproof vest and the other in the leg, according to New York City Police Commissioner Eddie Caban. The officers responded, shooting Castro-Mata in the ankle. 
The <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/06/03/us-news/two-nypd-cops-shot-in-queens-by-19-year-old/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">officers</a> were taken to a nearby hospital where they were in stable condition. Castro-Mata was also expected to survive after having surgery on his foot.
According to NYPD Detective Joseph Kenny, Castro-Mata illegally crossed into <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/texas-authorities-lock-down-eagle-pass-but-border-crossings-persist-in-surrounding-areas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Eagle Pass</a>, Texas, in July 2023. Kenny added that Castro-Mata’s current address was at a hotel that had been turned into housing for migrants.

Job growth for the month of May again beat expectations as 139,000 jobs were added to the American economy, and the unemployment rate remained steady, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 
The <a href="https://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a>, released Friday, found that the private sector continued to add jobs while government employment declined. The unemployment rate did not change from April, remaining at 4.2%.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt celebrated the news, saying it reflected President Donald Trump’s successful economic policies. 
“President Trump’s America First Economic Agenda has created a BOOMING economy — jobs are up, unemployment is down, wages are increasing, and inflation is dead,” she <a href="https://x.com/PressSec/status/1930980549906063803">said</a> on social media. “More than 139,000 good jobs were added to the private sector in May, all accounted for by American-born workers. Americans should continue to Trust in President Trump, who continues to beat expectations.”
The 139,000 job growth was more than the 125,000 that had been projected by the Dow Jones estimate. Last month, job growth also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/solid-april-jobs-report-shows-govt-employment-drops-as-private-sector-growth-beats-expectations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exceeded expectations</a>, although the increase was revised down by 30,000 jobs in the latest report.

Industries that saw the most growth were health care (62,000), leisure and hospitality (48,000), and social assistance (16,000). Federal government employment declined by 22,000. 
The Bureau of Labor Statistics added that there was little change in mining, oil and gas extraction, construction, manufacturing, wholesale trade, retail trade, transportation and warehousing, and the financial activities industries from the previous month. 
At the same time, average hourly pay increased 15 cents to $36.24 last month. 
“The small business economy is growing and the private economy is growing. This is exactly what Donald Trump wanted to do for reversing everything that Biden had done,” <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/06/trump-effect-higher-pay-for-american-workers/">said </a>Job Creators Network CEO Alfredo Ortiz in response to the report. “It’s so good to see that we’re actually creating private economy jobs again.”
The stock markets rose after the job report was released, with the S&amp;P 500, Nasdaq Composite, and Dow Jones Industrial Average rising by more than one percent.

‘America Is Hot’: Job Growth Again Beats Expectations

The Trump administration ended an airport surveillance program on Thursday that it said had been “weaponized” by the Biden administration. 
The Department of Homeland Security said that it was closing down the Quiet Skies program because it had been used for political purposes and had not stopped any terrorist attacks. The Quiet Skies <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/pia-tsa-spqs018i-april2019_1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">program</a> was an initiative run by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) that flagged fliers deemed by intelligence officials to “pose an elevated security risk” for “enhanced screening” and potential observation by federal Air Marshals. 
“It is clear that the Quiet Skies program was used as a political rolodex of the Biden Administration — weaponized against its political foes and exploited to benefit their well-heeled friends. I am calling for a Congressional investigation to unearth further corruption at the expense of the American people and the undermining of US national security,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said. 
 “TSA&#8217;s critical aviation and security vetting functions will be maintained, and the Trump Administration will return TSA to its true mission of being laser-focused on the safety and security of the traveling public. This includes restoring the integrity, privacy, and equal application of the law for all Americans,” she added.

The program costs $200 million per year and has stopped zero terrorist attacks since its inception in 2010, according to Homeland Security. 
Noem said that enhanced Quiet Skies screening was wrongly placed on Biden administration critic Tulsi Gabbard, who is now the Director of National Intelligence, while she was campaigning for President Donald Trump. She added that preferential treatment was given to the husband of a Democratic senator. 
On Wednesday, Homeland Security claimed that William Shaheen, the husband of New Hampshire Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen, was given a blanket exemption from Quiet Skies after he was flagged for traveling “with a Known or Suspected Terrorist on three occasions.” The exception was granted after Senator Shaheen lobbied the federal government for her husband&#8217;s removal from the Quiet Skies list, according to the department. 
Shaheen has disputed those claims, saying that she was unaware that her husband was ever flagged as a security risk by the Quiet Skies program. 
&#8220;Senator Shaheen contacted the Transportation Security Administration after her husband was subjected to several extensive, invasive and degrading searches at airport checkpoints,&#8221; her office said. &#8220;Senator Shaheen sought to understand the nature and cause of these searches. Any suggestion that the senator&#8217;s husband was supposedly included on a Quiet Skies list is news to her and had never been raised before yesterday, nor was she aware of any action taken following her call to remove him from such a list.&#8221;
Noem called for Congress to open up an investigation into Quiet Skies in addition to her department’s internal probe.

Trump Admin Ends ‘Weaponized’ Airport Security Surveillance Program

An Illinois YMCA is hosting an LGBT-themed camp for second graders alongside an activist organization that hands out so-called “gender-affirming” clothing items like “tucking underwear” and chest binders to anyone regardless of age. 
The Stephens Family YMCA in Champaign <a href="https://sf-ymca-prod.oneeach.dev/sites/sf-ymca/files/2025-02/Summer%20Camp%20Guide%202025.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">will host</a> “Camp Kaleidoscope,&#8221; a program designed for “LGBTQ+ youth or youth who are part of LGBTQ+ families.” The camp is offered at a “privately rented residential space” in partnership with Uniting Pride of Champaign County, an activist organization that distributes clothing items meant to alter the physical appearance of people who identify as transgender. 
Two sessions will be offered: one for children in second through fifth grades in June, and another for kids in sixth through ninth grade in July. According to its summer camp guide, the program is run “in collaboration” with Uniting Pride, an LGBT “resource center” for Eastern Illinois that leases office space from the University YMCA in Champaign.

“Camp provides children with daily summer adventures that promote a healthy spirit, mind and body in a safe space where campers can meet new friends, learn team building, and experience character growth and development. This camp is a full day camp, which will take place at an offsite location for 5 days,” a description of the camp reads. “The goal of our camp is to experience joy in recreation, while creating a safe environment for youth who are part of the LGBTQ+ community to be authentically themselves.”

The camp is held at a “privately rented residential space and includes woods, trails, a pond, indoor meeting space, indoor recreation, and more.” 
The Daily Wire reached out to the Stephens Family YMCA for further clarification on what role Uniting Pride would have in the camp. 
The American Parents Coalition, which has been leading an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/parents-sound-alarm-on-ymca-camps-allowing-men-in-girls-showers-and-cabins" target="_blank" rel="noopener">awareness campaign</a> against the YMCA’s embrace of gender ideology and policies encouraging male access to female spaces, said the partnership should trouble parents. 
&#8220;Summer camps are designed for kids to have fun, make new friends, or learn new skills — not as opportunities for the YMCA to push gender ideology on young kids who are away from their parents,” American Parents Coalition Executive Director Alleigh Marré told The Daily Wire. “The YMCA’s ‘Camp Kaleidoscope’ — which partners with a radical LGBTQ+ organization that offers chest binders and other clothes to gender-confused individuals, including youth – ought to deeply concern parents.&#8221;
On its <a href="https://www.unitingpride.org/whats-uniting-pride.html">website</a>, Uniting Pride makes clear that it believes that young people have the “right to privacy and autonomy over their gender or sexual identity” and the “right to express their gender identity in school and utilize all facilities that match their gender identity.” 
Uniting Pride <a href="https://archive.ph/OE0B5#selection-1759.10-1759.176">offers</a> “free binders and waist cinchers for residents of Illinois who want them but are not able to afford them or who are not able to safely purchase them on their own.” They also state that they have “a small amount of tucking underwear available.”
Binders are used to compress the breasts of females to appear more masculine. Tucking underwear is used to obscure male genitalia, and waist cinchers are used to make body shapes appear more masculine or feminine. Uniting Pride notes that its distribution program has no age restrictions. 
“Anyone of any age is welcome to apply,” the organization says on its website, which has a “quick exit” feature, an option that critics have said enables kids to hide access from parents. 
In a <a href="https://archive.ph/7GxH3#selection-761.38-761.88">form</a> provided to request the binders, Uniting Pride asks if an applicant is “able to afford or safely purchase a binder on your own” and offers to send new binder users information “about how to properly wear and care for your binder.”
The organization notes that it accepts “used gender-affirming items” as long as they are “generally good condition and be free of stains and scents of any kind.”
The organization also holds a <a href="https://www.unitingpride.org/read-up.html">stash</a> of transgender-themed books aimed at young people such as “A Kids Book about Being Transgender,” “A Kids Book about Being Non-Binary,” “A Tale of Two Mommies,” “Being Jazz,” “Drag Teen,” and the sexually explicit “Gender Queer.” 
The Stephens Family YMCA, which claims it has a mission of “putting Christian principles into practice,” says in its handbook that its access to private facilities is determined by gender identity. 
“All members will have access to restroom and locker room facilities that correspond to their self-identified, self-reported gender identity to the extent permitted by applicable law,” the <a href="https://sf-ymca-prod.oneeach.dev/sites/sf-ymca/files/2025-01/Membership%20handbook%202025%20NEW.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">handbook</a> says. 
The YMCA has recently come under fire from conservative groups over its endorsement of its affiliates allowing access to showers, locker rooms, and overnight facilities on the basis of gender identity. The YMCA <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ymca-scrubs-transgender-guidance-after-parent-group-raises-alarm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">scrubbed</a> or hid a plethora of transgender-themed resources from its website last week after the American Parents Coalition launched its campaign.
“Camp Kaleidoscope&#8217;s partnership with these activist organizations is yet another indictment of the YMCA&#8217;s unacceptable prioritization of gender ideology over children’s safety,” Marré told The Daily Wire.

Illinois YMCA Hosts ‘LGBT Youth’ Camp With Group That Distributes ‘Tucking Underwear’

A man wanted over a hit-and-run in Nashville last month is an illegal alien from Venezuela who was released into the country by the Biden administration, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed Thursday.
The Department of Homeland Security said that Tony Gebian Lopez Infante, who is suspected of driving his car into a Florida man celebrating his 21st birthday, illegally entered the country in August 2023. Lopez Infante is on the run after police say that he slammed into Zachary Carach with his vehicle on May 18, sending him to the hospital with serious injuries.
“An illegal alien who should never have been in the U.S. allegedly struck a young man who was celebrating his 21st birthday in a hit-and-run crash and is still at large. The Biden Administration released this illegal alien into our country in 2023,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “This crime was preventable and is the direct result of open border policies that prioritized illegal aliens over the safety of American citizens.”

After his apprehension at the border on August 1, 2023, Lopez Infante was released on August 14, 2023, to await removal proceedings. Over a year later, he was ordered to be deported on September 25, 2024, by an immigration judge, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Carach spent five days in a Nashville hospital before he was transported to a hospital in Florida to continue treatment. His legs and arms were seriously injured, requiring surgery to put screws into his left leg. His mother <a href="https://weartv.com/news/local/mother-of-escambia-county-hit-and-run-victim-speaks-out-as-search-intensifies-for-suspect">told</a> a local Florida news station that he is expected to be in a wheelchair for at least two to three months.

Metro Nashville Police said that Lopez Infante will be <a href="https://www.nashville.gov/departments/police/news/suspect-sought-hit-and-run-crash-seriously-injured-pedestrian" target="_blank" rel="noopener">charged</a> with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, failure to render aid/file an accident report, attempted evidence tampering, and driving without a license/insurance once he is apprehended. He also faces another charge related to an arrest over theft in Williamson County, a wealthy area south of Nashville.
Local Nashville officials, including Democratic Mayor Freddie O’Connell, have bashed the Trump administration’s efforts to remove illegal aliens from the streets. O’Connell pledged to <a href="https://www.nashville.gov/departments/mayor/news/belonging-fund-launches-provide-emergency-support-immigrants-nashville">support</a> the creation of the “Belonging Fund,” intended to provide financial support to illegal aliens after Immigration and Customs Enforcement partnered with the Tennessee Highway Patrol to conduct traffic stops where they apprehended nearly one hundred illegal aliens with criminal convictions or pending charges.
These protests by Music City Democrats have prompted Border Czar Tom Homan to threaten a visit to implement a broader crackdown on illegal aliens.

Man Wanted In Nashville Hit-And-Run Is Illegal Alien Released Into Country By Biden

A Texas program offering in-state tuition to illegal immigrants ended Wednesday after the Trump administration sued the state saying that the initiative violated federal law. 
The suit from the Justice Department challenged Texas law that allowed illegal immigrants to be eligible for in-state tuition while denying the same opportunities for American citizens. The challenge was resolved the same day after a federal judge approved a joint motion from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and the Justice Department to rule the law unconstitutional.
“Today, I entered a joint motion along with the Trump Administration opposing a law that unconstitutionally and unlawfully gave benefits to illegal aliens that were not available to American citizens,” said Attorney General Paxton. “Ending this discriminatory and un-American provision is a major victory for Texas.”
The <a href="https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/images/press/Joint%20Motion%20for%20Entry%20of%20Consent%20Judgment.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">joint motion</a> asked the judge to rule that the tuition provision of Texas law applying to illegal immigrants violated the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause and issue a permanent injunction blocking application of the law.
“In direct and express conflict with federal law, Texas education law specifically allows an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States to qualify for in-state tuition based on residence within the state, while explicitly denying resident-based tuition rates to U.S. citizens that do not qualify as Texas residents,” Paxton and the DOJ wrote in their motion.

Judge Reed O’Connor of the Northern District of Texas <a href="https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/images/press/In%20State%20Tuition%20Final%20Judgment.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed off</a> on the motion just hours after it was filed, granting a permanent injunction against the provision.
“In-state tuition for illegal immigrants in Texas has ended,” Governor Greg Abbott said. “Texas is permanently enjoined from providing in-state tuition for illegal immigrants.”
The provision giving illegal immigrants access to in-state tuition was <a href="https://lrl.texas.gov/legis/billsearch/actions.cfm?legSession=77-0&amp;billtypeDetail=HB&amp;billNumberDetail=1403&amp;billSuffixDetail=">first passed</a> back in 2001 and signed by then-Governor Rick Perry.
In an <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/04/protecting-american-communities-from-criminal-aliens/?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a> signed in March, President Donald Trump instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to “identify and take appropriate action to stop the enforcement of State and local laws, regulations, policies, and practices favoring aliens over any groups of American citizens that are unlawful, preempted by Federal law, or otherwise unenforceable, including State laws that provide in-State higher education tuition to aliens but not to out-of-State American citizens.”

In its <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24pdf/24-154_2b82.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ruling</a>, the court struck down a decision from the Wisconsin Supreme Court that said the Catholic Charities Bureau had to pay taxes on unemployment compensation. The court said that the interpretation of state tax law by Wisconsin&#8217;s Supreme Court violated the First Amendment.
&#8220;The First Amendment mandates government neutrality between religions and subjects any state-sponsored denominational preference to strict scrutiny,&#8221; Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote in the majority decision. &#8220;The Wisconsin Supreme Court’s application of [Wisconsin law] imposed a denominational preference by differentiating between religions based on theological lines.&#8221;
Catholic Charities Bureau is an organization that provides services to poor people, the disabled, the elderly, and children with special needs as a ministry of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Superior. According to its <a href="https://ccbsuperior.org/about-us/">website</a>, it provides around 50 programs to over 10,500 people.
Justice Clarence Thomas wrote a concurring opinion, saying that in addition to violating the First Amendment, the Wisconsin Supreme Court violated the church autonomy doctrine, which means that a religious institution is not defined by any corporate entity it may form.
&#8220;I would reverse for an additional reason — that the Wisconsin Supreme Court violated the church autonomy doctrine,&#8221; Thomas wrote. &#8220;However incorporated, Catholic Charities and its subentities are, from a religious perspective, a mere arm of the Diocese of Superior. The Wisconsin Supreme Court should have deferred to that understanding, and its failure to do so amounted to an unlawful attempt by the State to redefine the Diocese’s internal governance.&#8221;

Thomas noted that the government could not use entities created by religious institutions as a backdoor means to regulate their internal governance.
&#8220;In short, the corporation is made for the church, not the church for the corporation. Both the basic principles of church autonomy and the history of religious corporations establish that religious institutions are more than the corporate entities that they form,&#8221; he wrote. &#8220;It follows that the government may not use such entities as a means of regulating the internal governance of religious institutions.&#8221;
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson also issued a separate concurring opinion.
