President Joe Biden demanded on Tuesday that the illegal aliens already in the United States, including the millions who have entered during his administration, be given a pathway to citizenship so they can become Americans.

The remarks from Biden come as there have been record high numbers of illegal aliens entering the U.S. under Biden, including 1,734,686 illegal alien encounters in 2021, 2,378,944 illegal alien encounters in 2022, and 2,475,669 illegal alien encounters in 2023.

“Now, it doesn’t address everything I’d like — that I wanted,” Biden said. “For example, we still need a path for — of documentation for those who are already here. And we’re not walking away from true immigration reform, including permanent protections and a pathway to citizenship for young DREAMers who came here when they were children and who have been good citizens and contribute so much to our country.”

Biden made the remarks during a White House press conference where he also claimed that if Republicans do not pass his border bill, former President Donald Trump will be “the only reason the border is not secure.”

Biden, who repeatedly stated throughout his first three years in office that the border was secure and that there was no crisis, has now changed his views on the issue as polling ahead of the November election shows that the overwhelming majority of the country, approximately 70%, disapproves of the way that he has handled the border and 61% blame him for the border crisis.

House Republicans passed a border security bill some 270 days ago, the Secure the Border Act, which has been sitting on Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s desk ever since.

Seeking to deflect blame for the crisis, Biden said on Tuesday that Trump controls the Republicans in Congress and that if they do not pass the border bill, Trump will own the border crisis, even though Biden could declare a national emergency and shut down the border on his own.
